Cannot dim a Magnetic ballast. Magnetic ballasts get very hot. 2 reasons to go electronic. You cant just diss electronic ballasts because one failed on you. Maybe we could start a hate thread on Magnetic ballasts, Oh the heat from my magnetic ballast fucked up my grow, it burnt my house down, the noise got me busted etc.

Chill.Scroggsy.

The one I have you can?,,,I think I can run a MH-400 watt and 1000 wat only,,,and you can run 1000 watt HPS only.,,,It might be a pulsar?,,Anyone heard of that??

Nope but just saying, you can't really diss a product that offers something different. Maybe the people that complain of having digital ballasts fail is because their grow has too much heat which made it blow, or just unlucky. Maybe a bad batch of ballasts.

TBH I would rather have a ballast fail than have a fire hazard or security issues because of a hot noisy magnetic ballast. Just to flip the coin to the other side. Scroggsy.

Everything has it's place, everything has it's purpose.

Naw man,,,It is not a heat isssue and even if it was,,,It should not have happened and fucked me for a week,,,Plus last grow I waited close to two weeks for a replcement . The only thing that saved me was a back up mag 400,,,I'll let you know how it goes.

well it seem you have discovered what I did a long time ago!! they do suck and the hole overdrive/ less heat = less electric usesage is BS
Ive got a buddy that thought yah these are cool and wouldnt listen to me at all, bought like 6 1000s and not even 6 months went by and
hes gone through 3 of them! and after a year all of them have been replaced, and his warranty is up so its goig to cost to fix them now.

also they put off a bad RFI SIGNAL THAT FUCKS UP DIGITAL TV SIGNAL AND RADIO/CELL RECEPTION creepy
I wonder how they can pass FCC regulations with the rf issue.

Well they can fail and that sucks, but look on the flip side. Anything can fail. Your pump can fail, your timer can fail. Anything electronic can fail. I spent £1000 on an amplifier for my home cinema and that thing has blown up twice since ive had it, but when its working it does a damn good job and I couldn't be happpier with it.Scroggsy.

Just have a spare in case something happens.

I do believe thats true.Scroggsy. It's to do with the number of times per second that it strikes the bulb or something.

True. My electronic ballast gives zero interference with anything. Cell phone (signal AND pics), Camera pics, Wireless headphone where the base station is next to the ballast, Satellite TV, cordless phones, Etc, gives zero interference whatsoever. (Lumatek) and I've been running it for like 10 months zero problems...maybe you guys let power surges and high heat melt your ballast and then blame manufacturer? I mean honestly, all ballasts are pretty much constructed the same (same with all other technology, just different brands on the same components). Now there are a few I've heard are epic, like running under water for 5 days in a flooded grow room (digital obviously) but you pay out the fucking nose for those.

Plus all of them are like 95% quieter AT LEAST than magnetics. (mine is 100% silent)

All this being true, they will NOT save you any electricity, but they WILL put out slightly more light. This is because they are MORE EFFICIENT meaning they can use a higher percentage of the 600W+ that it pulls from the wall. Since your electric company charges you on the amount of electricity you pull FROM THE WALL your bill won't go down (You're dumb if you thought it would) (any ballast in the same Watt class will pull the same amount of power from the wall, regardless of being magnetic or digital)

these are my thoughts confirmed by a digi user. thank you much.

No problem, I have no hate for people that use magnetic, I never have and never will. I just don't understand why people need to falsify things to get people to be on their side of the argument. Magnetic ballasts are cheaper and apparently immortal according to the diehards in this thread. But for my needs, a digital is the way to go.

(Plus you can just throw a MH bulb in with an electronic ballast, and fire it up) This way, if you are not perpetual, you can get away with only 1 ballast, making up the price difference. (I don't use it for this as I have separate rooms, but it can be done nonetheless)
