DIY Closet DWC Grow - First grow ever

Roseman... I agree. It just isn't fair. Life truly is long... but not long enough.

Tommy... I haven't been ignoring the post... it has actually hurled me into a giant ball of conflict. I have only grown from clones my first two grows... getting my clones from one dispensary. While I'm not complaining at the choise they have (usually 6-8 good strains)... I do feel limited in the strains I can grow.

The idea of strarting from seed in beautiful to me... it's the whole process. I've been cheating (not that I mind). Also... I'd love to try my hand at different strains... hand picked by myself for my personal tastes.

I guess I'm trying to say I'm jealous and hope that I'm brave enough to order myself some seeds soon enough.

HOWEVER... The whole reason I started this growing thing is this. I bought an 8th of "Rainbow Trinity Purple" from a store around here... not sure how they managed... but only one nugget was packed full of seeds. I got about 16 good ones from maybe a gram nug. Total was 25 or so, but some were tiny white things. I collected them and the wife said... "why don't you start growing" and away the researching went. I ended up using clones... BUT I still got the seeds.

Oh yeah... the best part... the "trinity rainbow purple" that the seeds came from was for sure one of my favorite smokes in the past few years. Maybe top 5... and being in SoCal I have probably tried like 50-80 different strains in that time.

So yeah... like roseman said... too little time.

Thanks for sharing and getting me all pumped up about seeds.

That Hawaiian snow looks out of this world. I want to try that feeling they describe. You have GOTS to let us know how that is. Unless I beat you to it (you gave me the idea).... I"m not past jacking ideas at all. Took my light from Tronica, scrog set up from DryNRoasty, DWC from someone on a different site, and now Hawaiian Snow from Tom. I hope you wouldn't mind.

:peace:

Hey guys.... I can't hear a damn thing in the video. Can you?

I walked out to my kitchen today and what did I see right out the window rummaging through our trash...

a BEAR...

maybe a couple feet from me (through a window). It was pretty wild. Not knowing much about them I would say it was a teenage black bear. It wasn't Huge, but it was stinking big. Maybe 250 lbs?

Lovin life in the mountains.

Hey everyone,

I got a question about my diy cooltube thing. It was how I held the glass to the reflector... well, I used high strength wire (from home deopt) and I just twisted it around like a twist tie to secure everything.

Ghetto but effective.

Edit: The wire goes through not just the reflector, but there is also a strong tie that it goes through... you can see the shadow the strong tie makes in the second and third picture. These strong ties are what give the whole enclosure it's structural integrity (couldn't think of a simple term to use).

Thanks allot man, thats the way i was thinking just didnt want the glass to fall halfway threw the grow. One thing that sucks for me is that the vase i am using tapers down on one end to 4'' and the other is a fat 6''. Is your hurricane glass loose (floating) under the reflector?, or is it a tight fit? I know the 6 inch i can get snug and some what tight but the 4inch side will have to hang down and float. Thanks agian man for the help, did a great job getting me the pics i needed to see, i owe you so much rep man!!

My glass does just hang... when you tape it up to the ducting it holds it in place more.

If I were you I think I would put the small end first, then have it blow out the big end... my reasoning is this:

If you had the big end first the air would rush into the vase and be crunched down into a smaller hole causing extra positive pressure on the glass.

That is if you have the fan first.

If you have the fan second I would reverse.

Basically I would have the fat end towards the fan.

Good luck.

I was getting ready to build my cooltube with out thinking about the most important part....... and that is getting the bulb out and in with out no problems, that's why i have the 6 inch vase. Almost started building it and i wouldn't have even been able to get the light bulb in after i was done omg i would have been so pissed........

......long story short i have the 6'' end open to suck air threw the glass, (i was going to hook it up to another intake, but now its just going to take intake from inside the growroom) over the tip of the bulb, down the bulb to the 4'' side to ducing to a 4''fan then blown out threw the carbon filter then outside

the fan i am using is just a small 4'' fan i got from walmart and it will be in the ducing after the light, i hope it works good enough to suck out all the heat from the light

Wow dude, I've just spent the last 4 or 5 days reading through this whole thread, whenever i could get the time. I must say it's really inspirational. Very well done, and grats on your first grow.

I've got 4 northern lights seedlings sprouting in my closet right now for my first grow. I am way more spatially challenged though, so am going to stick with soil(ocean forest), while topping and LSTing them to fill up the vertically challenged space that I have.

Anyway, I have got to say that I am so glad i discovered these forums. In ten + years of surfing the information superhighway and belonging to so many online communities varying in topics from gaming to local fishing to online poker, this is hands down the best community I have ever stumbled upon. Enough about me, look forward to following your next journals.
