DIY Samsung LM561C build

Move on trolling on another's thread is not very respectful but that is one way to sell like gg crew just run over others you look bad not me
Hi Vegas, after reading up on this thread I am in the process of making a huge order with Roget, just wanted to confirm if he is legit before i make a bank transfer....as this is not being done thru alibaba so there is no protection in case he decides not to ship, I know you have spoken highly of him...i just wanted some ease of mind before i transfer as the order will take 2 weeks to process and during that time a lot of suspicions might surface since he takes ages to respond.
being a new member i dont think i could msg you directly so i am posting here
cheers!

Roget is legit. Paypal is the way to go if you have an account. I have bought from Roget three or four times. His work is good and his ethics are great. two weeks is normal timw frame. you will be impressed and satisfied. good luck with your build.

Just my experience, take it or leave it, but I’m having my doubts about Roget. Placed an order for 2 25-meter reels of Samsung strips in early August. Still waiting almost two months later. $300 going, going gone I’m afraid.

Friendly guy and all, but with a new excuse every week I feel I’m being played. Now, its some two-week long national holiday. Before, it was “better quality coming available”, “new manufacturing process”, “supplier waiting on correct bin” etc etc.

Roget plays what seems is the classic Alibaba scamster 2-step: 1. Very aggressive reply to inquiries on Alibaba, with great price and flexibility to get you “what you want”, then 2. moves all communication off Alibaba (and away from the site’s vendor monitoring and transaction guarantees) to email. Insists on full payment upfront. Then the excuses for delays start.

I’ve been a lurker here for a while, learned alot from this site’s members, much respect. I know its my first post so like I said, take or leave it. Just thought I should share my experience so far. Still hoping my order comes someday.

I had a similar situation with some meanwell ldds from someone on ali. They basically might take your money in a hope of fulfilling your order for stock they don't have yet, then you have to wait till they can source them with enough margin for a profit. I got the LDDs but it took 6 month. It is a common thing, in some product markets more than others, basically a lot claim to be directly linked with a factory, some are the real factories, some are middle men who can and do get stock and some are middle men who wait for an order, take the money and run around trying to source that order afterwards.

Now I can't speak for Roget and although I have had that issue with the LDDs, that was just one transaction in many and the rest were smooth. Some were with genuine factories and some were with middle men. Some were for a few hundred quid and some were for a few thousand £

As far as the Alibaba transaction guarantees they aren't worth shit anyway. If someone wants to rip you off they will do it regardless. The only thing you can really go on is how many years the guy/company has trading, if its less than 2 its a higher risk.
Plus its very normal for payment transactions to take place outside ali, it saves you and them money which allows a cheaper price and a greater chance you will buy with them.

You will probably get your order eventually. But I can see your frustration as I have been there myself.

We're you having custom work done or something? I made a purchase with Roget at the end of August and had my stuff in 5 days. He never once asked me to switch to email and used PayPal and Alibaba for the whole transaction. He had the strips in stock so it was an easy transaction. He has also informed me of the holiday they are having which slows down everything for a few weeks. But going on almost 2 months seems odd. At least you used PayPal and will get either your product or money back. If it was bank wire or western union then you are screwed.

Also seems a bit odd your first and only post is about this huge problem with Alibaba and your order and being scammed. Do you have an invoice you could post to authenticate this is all true?

Holiday is real. I hope your order makes it. Mine took weeks three or four. Hand work takes longer. Not making excuses but he has come thru for me four times took time but always delivered.
If you like I will inquire on your behalf after holiday is over.
PM me if you want

Can someone tell me if these would be any use in a build with these boards i found 5 or 6 of them laying around
I have a few myself. You need LDDs to plug into the and then to the boards.
I have lots of LDDs at 700mA and I think they are good between 2-52v
Not sure on the specs for that power supply but should be good

Alright so one of those drivers with a ldd would power one grow board. Cool im one step closer now. Had a whiole box of them things juat sitting around

That why i posted on here i figured eventually vegas would pop in and help a brother out. Especially because ill be ordering his boards when i get the other supplies lol
5v 55a. what to do with that type of power. hmmm. I could power a bunch of 5v devices for my arduino projects, but beyond that I am not sure. MW LDD drivers lose 3v in the driver usage alone they start at 32v, I believe and go to 52v max.You get 30-50v max output for A LDD, but it needs more than 5v. I use a 200w 48v MW constant voltage driver for 3w leds and LDD drivers. I also use a 4up rapidled board as it has a jumper for switch control over pwm control, i.e. you do not need a controller to use the 4up board to control, leds, just on/off capability.

So there probably useless then huh
No... they are useful - You can bridge two together to make a 10V 55A supply. You'll need to verify with a meter that the 5V return is not connected to ground or the chassis, if its not then you can bridge them by connecting the 5V+ of one to the 5V return of the other. You'll take your output from the unconnected output terminals.

You could then use a pair of them to power a bunch of LLD drivers.

Ill give that a shot this weekend
@Mztoker

You need step-up moduls or so called boost conversters.
Meanwell LDD's are step-down or so called buck converters and delivers CC at the cost of 2-3vf.
A step up modules can increase a constant voltage. But remember, this higher the conversion pressure the lower the effiency and you need probably additional cooling with 5v in and 24v out.
I would boost only from 5v to ~12v to get ~80-85% and use 1 boost converter for 1m of 12v flex strip.
BTW,
the MW power supply should have a small poti next to the wire connections, maybe you can get 6v out of it?!
This is the first siutable one I found(1,18$) but I'm sure you can get them cheaper if you take more.

So your saying i coukd get one of those step up modules and not have to bridge it to another power supply and that would.give me enough juice.to run what exactly. Im sorta newer.to this diy.light atuff.
