I wouldnt say government but governing body for sure. Back then there wasnt any seperation between church and state and the church had more say in the going ons then the gov. Could you imagine if people got the death penalty for blasphemy today? Its not that bad today but the church still governs things. Did you know that Walmart and Target started saying happy holidays instead of merry christmas? That is until the church threatened a boycott. Back to merry christmas lol!!!! Even though the USA is always ran by christians we are pretty free to do what we want religion wise. Thank you founding fathers.

Ridiculous stories. You cant say they are parables cause the bible states them as fact. Changing the interpetation of the bible and its stories only weakens its hold on people. Ok im done with this thread. I might get struck by lightning...

How can you assume using a stick to find water doesnt work? And its not just 1, its 2 pieces. Why dont you to my grandpas ranch and him how many water wells are still fully functional after nearly 50 yrs of working... Oh, and he found them using just sticks!

I worked in the oilfield(natural gas) for 4 years. Finding water isnt that hard IF there is water to be found. Drilling for gas' major challenge is NOT hitting large pockets of water while drilling because there is water at certain levels underground that flow as a river in a general area. The problem is if there is no water there probably isnt any gas either.. For instance.... The ranch i worked on was 1100 acres with over 350 wells drilled on it.. Guess what... They all produced lots of water. If your grandpa could not hit water with sticks on my ranch id be more impressed and he could make alot of money telling companies where not to drill. So id ask you why his ranch is on the land its on? Probably because there is access to water or he (or whoever started the ranch) wouldnt have setup shop there. If your grandpa chose where he was going to start a ranch by walking around for miles and miles with stickS and decided to start it where it is now id believe in sticks. I could go out with a close hanger or maybe a taco and find water if there is water. Sorry but most things are explained by science.

the bible was written how long ago? I think the its objective was to get a general idea/meaning across.. I doubt it was written for the Modern Brain & Man to criticize. its like you guys arguing over a kids science book.. may be silly somewhat.. but its Trying to get a point across to a Different MINDSET. your all thinking too hard.

Going to have to disagree.. The bible was written to give christianity a backbone. It had nothing to do with mindset. Reading stuff from buddha would be for mindset. Reading the bible is very direct in its purpose. There is a god, devil, jesus, and if you dont believe you burn in hell. Your are right though.. It wasnt meant for todays sciencentific brains to pick apart because back then people were sheep. Thats kinda the issue here. Why do so many people still follow it today to the T? The bible says dont be gay.. A man and a man cant procreate so there will no babies to carry on the word of god. Not good for the church.
