Double Dip Recession Coming?

It's better than your solution Bucky whereby you tax the rest of the people harder and the person who once got 70c a shirt now doesn't have to work at all.
that's not my solution at all.

my solution would be something like a wage floor. perhaps we can call it a "minimum wage". along with regulations that keep corporations from readily exploiting workers.

i'm sure someone will be along to tell me why this could not work, despite all the empirical evidence to the contrary.

We are already well into another downturn. By the time they say we are in a recession it is almost over. I do investing and make money on it, I never listen to politicians, they always lie, they are very consistent. I do look at how things are, currently I see:

Wage deflation - people taking wage cuts or getting rehired making much less money.
Moderate price inflation.
All of the things listed below in the quote and much more have taken large real cuts in spending, that is something that has already happened.
Continuing high unemployment, just about depression levels if they are calculated in the same way as they did then, I dont think anyone will argue this.

Everyone I talk to thinks thinks the government is spending too much and has to spend less. If Congress and the White-house do what they say there going to do a recession is very likely. It the things that make good political sense to do are the very things that will make things worse, that is where we are now. Until something changes I see at least two more year of economic sickness. There is hope, they rarely keep there word.

We are in an ongoing long depression/recession with occasional sags that are worse.

Hell yeah lets start by shutting down all the library's ..hell school buses are socialist too..I pay for them buses and can't even ride one. Get rid of them as well and make all the children just walk. They used to have a song called "fuck the police"...Might as well get rid of them too, as well as the fire dept, and city garbage collection..fuck it lets start making a list

VA Hospital
Post Office
Jails
Medicare
SSI
unemployment
Parks (national and city)
Beaches (national and city)
Libraries
Road, Streets, Highways, byways, Freeways

Why should I pay anyone more than they are worth to me? If the amount I pay isn't enough, don't interview.

The idea that the government should be involved in this is what got us where we are.

if you can't pay a worker a livable wage, don't hire them.
Now it's the fault of the employer that someone is willing to work for less?
If the potential employee doesn't like the pay being offered, they can simply not take the job. If the employee is needed enough, the wage will go up.

Maybe OBAMA can mandate a country wide workers union. We can all make a mandated amount, maybe $100 an hour? Plus mandated Obenefits, of course.
