DWC Root Slime Cure aka How to Breed Beneficial Microbes

It's only been two days and, already, I have roots exploding. I was a bit worried, because soon after I added the initial dose of tea, all my roots had this brown gook all over them. Today, the roots are looking better and new roots are growing out everywhere. This stuff works!!!! I can't thank you enough, I was ready to give up, for now, and try again in the fall.

Yes indeed the tea does work! I had root rot! Brown and smushy root third week into flower. I thought it was over for me! I rip out all the root clean out res. I pour the one cup of fresh tea on the top. top feeding with tea. two days later i see new root grow. every three day i add in res and top feed and now i got monster root in one week. I brew my tea with a powerful air pump with 6 airstone. foam like crazy. GOOD LUCK

Hello Heisenberg I have been using Biothrive grow for my DWC system I do not use pump in any form of oxygen in it, it is just a sitting tank. Over the week I noticed this solution really smelling bad as if it was jus rotting away in there and it seems like it is. The solution is thick and has a thin layer of like scum on the top of the res. I have been readying your thread and was wondering if adding benefical microorganisms using the compost tea would help break down Biothrive grow so my plants could absorb nutrients instead of them sitting in a rotting bowl of soup. Much help is needed as I am learning all new ways, just finished my first year at college with a major in horticulture and I took a hydroponics class and have been interested ever since. Thanks again for any help provided!

Yes.You Will Be Able To Tell If Ya Spray Too Much. The Leaves Will Bleach And Have Rust Spots And Look Real Fuguly :joint:
I guess I would need to raise my lights also before spraying anything. I had a really bad experience with magic green and liquid light. I lost all the white hair on the bud on 3rd of flowering. I'm not sure if it's magic green or LL that burnted it.

You are attempting DWC with organic nutes. This is not recommended. It can be done, but only for experienced growers. I don't understand why you didn't aerate the water? I'm surprised your class didn't tell you about the importance of dissolved oxygen. Without it, you are creating an anaerobic environment where root eating bacteria and fungus grow quickly. You are going to have to ditch all of it and start over. Get an air pump and some cheap General Hydroponic Micro and Bloom and you will grow amazing plants.

Yes, raise your lights, or turn them off until dry. I leave my lights off for an hour after spraying, with only CFL's to keep the plants active. Add no more than 5ml per gallon of snow storm, and LL has never burned my hairs. I use 18ml LL per 300ml of water on established plants, half strength on newly rooted plants.

On strains with fat buds, I add snow storm to the res as well, starting around week 4 of flower at 1ml per gallon, building up to 3ml per gallon by week 7. (nothing during week 8) This is because bulky buds tend to have a little less resin production.

This is very true. Too much snowstorm will bleach your leaves and brown your hairs. The bleaching will appear in a spray pattern. Never add more than 5ml per gallon for spraying. I of course only use 300ml of the gallon, and the rest I use to top off the res.

Hi Guys, I managed to source more or less what I need for making the tea here in EU; rootgrow for the myco and PM essence for the bacillus + obviously the EWC. Guys, can I do without the airstone? basically just stirring frequently the solution? Many thanks and happy healthy growing

Glad you found the materials you need. The only substitute for an air-pump is a waterfall. Any sort of pump which can bring the water out of the bucket and let it splash back in. Stirring will do next to nothing because the microbes are placing a large demand on oxygen.
