I have never grown with 1000W HID, I had 2x400watters, I am still learning and also doing 12/12 from seeds which usually don't yield as much. I am shooting for 1.5 - 2 oz per plant (my best plant was close to 3oz 12/12 from seeds, once had a 4oz plant in a scrog, out of 3 plants. I am new at this :D

The best thing with LEDs is that I don't have to worry about burning my hairs on the fkin bulbs anymore like I use to (the room is pretty small!!) well ok maybe it's not the best thing about LEDs but its a great improvement! Also for me the main thing was fire hazard, I own my house and I had some old ballast with my 400watters but even just the bulbs themselves, it feels much better to leave the house unattended for a few days with the LEDs.

I got 8 plants and just over 800Watts of LEDs in that room, But my best run was about 10 oz with the 2 400watts and a couple LEDs, but I wasnt using all the space really efficiently.

To answer your question based on my experience so far, I would say, with the right setup, 1000W of LEDs should do at least as good as the 1000W HIDs. But I am still experimenting/learning... and will always!! But so far the growth is excellent, and the Chemdogs started to flower. So get a nice chair, get comfortable, and you will see how I do with 800watts by September.

I dont think that I will experience similar growth with the 3 small babies right now (they kind of look Runty!!), nor the K-Trains, but take a look at how well those Chemdogs are doing under the FERO, next time I will be using a lot less hot soil in those 10gallons container to avoid weird growth ... but they are overall healthy.

16days later, today (yes 12 / 12 from seeds!!)

Is it me or this is amazing growth for soil? I had to tie them down last night because I want to keep the light at about 24'', if the plants were all the same size in the room I think I would put the light up 36'' above canopy.

Ok!! only a few days have gone by since my last update, (EDIT: I guess it was yesterday morning!!) but I'll be gone for the next little while and I won't be updating my journal for about 2 weeks. I tied the plants down (the 2 chemdogs) a few days ago and they were already perking up pretty good so I raised the light a bit. I want to make sure I dont come home to a bunch of bleached plants, I think it's at a safe distance now. Everything looks really good, the babies should be taking off too so it will be a good update when I get back.

Happy Growing everyone :bigjoint:

The light by the FERO is a 125Watts UVB reptile lamp... the rest is 100% LEDs! (goes on 1 hour 3 times a day)

Hey End b4 u go, why 1x3 on the UVB instead of 4x1? I've heard 4x1 works good because it mimics the mid-day light when UVB exposure is highest. At least that's what I've read and was wondering if you wouldn't mind sharing what you know.

Same question here, would like to here the explanation, thanks in advance!

no explanation... trying to save some electricity until the room is full of buds then I will up it to about 5 hours a day... I don't know that it makes much of a difference to be honest I didnt have it in the room my previous run (I had it running 6hours a day the run before that) and I got as much frost on my buds. But I have the light now so I figured I would use it! I think more research needs to be done on the benefits of UVB in indoor gardens.

I just got home and OMG!!! my HIDs were no match with my FERO's and others, I will upload pics soon, the plants have grown up to the lights, they are all massive 12/12ers!! I was always worry about bleaching with the FERO and now I have a few plants that have literally grown up to the lights with no signs of bleaching! WOOHOO

WAAA !! I told you so!
Untitled111111.jpgUntitled11111.jpgUntitled1111.jpgUntitled11.jpg

I just bent that one because it was nearly touching the light
Untitled1111111.jpg

and also that one, just because I dont want to push my luck, only a tiny bleach spot the rest very nice and healthy
Untitled111.jpg

The newcomers, not 12/12 yet just because I wasnt around and it was easier to keep control over the environment running the light 24hours a day, tomorrow I will transplant the bigger in 7gallons containers, then switch to 12/12

Cheers!!

How many times a day did you think of them? Remember the days when we used that mental energy anticipating our next lay?

hehe the first week I was thinking of them everyday all day!! mostly because I was worry I guess but then my woman sent me pictures after that first week of being gone and at that point I knew I was gonna come home to a nice garden... but man was I blown away when I opened the door, way more impressive than the pictures, and I couldnt really see much on them. I thought the K-trains were runts and they went from 10'' to about 24+'' in 2 weeks!!! all 12/12 from seeds so I am really stoke with their size, it should be a fine harvest.

I gotta say, I am so glad I made the switch from HIDs to LEDs. My garden looks so good! so healthy, low maintenance, the dream!

I got busy this morning setting everything up in the 3x3 tent, I think I am using the space and light very efficiently. I am only using about 420Watts of light in the tent so I am looking forward to see the gram per watt ratio, I would be very happy to get 1/2 lbs out of this configuration (not much veg time, its going 12/12 today and will always be 12/12 from now). Anyway, as I said earlier in the journal (I think) I fucked up when germinating and I have no idea of which one is which, but they are mostly Sativas, except for the 3 Chemos in the 15gallons and the BerryBomb in the bottom right corner.

OK!!! I got some big buds!! it's hard to tell from the pics because I didnt want to bother changing the lens on my woman's camera, but the Chemdog that is ahead of everything else has many tops with nice sized nugs and the main is pretty big too!! still got about 30 days to go I am thinking... The rest is filling in really nicely. Things would look better if I wouldnt have been so busy, but my girlfriend did pretty good!! The room is going to yield way more with LEDs ...

Everything in the tent is looking good as well, they should really explode with growth over the next couple of weeks and show their sex... only the 3 Chemos in the corner are REG the rest is all females.

I can definitely vouch for Brent and Fero. I have purchased their product and have had the pleasure of communicating with Brent. I dont work for Fero nor do I have any affiliation with Brent. Just got to give him props. Class organization.

no I didnt use a killawatt, it's sold as a 540W actual draw.

Regarding this post on a different thread

At the moment I replied:

But I still wanted to know more so I emailed Brent at Fero.

FERO's reply:
We actually used to work with that company but we had so many problem with them. They gave us such a big head ache. We have switched to a new supplier. But yes by all means people can go there to get lights. Plus buddy did not include the price for shipping and duty into the mix..... Plus Someone would have to know what spectrums they would want. I also think that manufacture uses one less LED in each cluster then the FeroMax units. I would have to double check. I think they use one led in each cluster as an indicator light.

We at Fero LED try and give the best customer service possible. I give everyone my personal cell number

and anyone can call me 24/7. I have even offered 90 day money back guarantees to most people (you included) which this company would never do.[/COLOR]

Thanks!! my only concern with LEDs was that I wasnt 100% sure that I would get big buds, well I hadnt seen it with my eyes yet. And now I see it and it's fkin great!! I can admit that my first 2 LEDs grow were no success, the quality was there though...This new setup uses about 200watts less than the previous HIDs/LEDs setup and the yield is going to be way better (my thumb is getting greener too but still!!)

My goal is to grow 3oz plants on a regular basis (12/12 from seed of course!)... it will be hard to tell how much I get per batch because as soon as one plant finishes, another goes in so this time around is really the only time that the plants are all at the same stage of growth more or less. I would be stoke to hit 16 Oz out of the 7 plants currently in there, all of which should be ready by the end of August.

16 Oz would be a 3200$ saving for me, I ran out of my own shit again, about a month short of supply this time!! hehe that shouldnt be happening anymore!!
