**flushing with mollasses** +rep

if you are about to chop your plant, molasses isn't going to do much. your buds have most likely already reached their potential. i use molasses with great success throughout my grow to give the plant boosts throughout their growth phases, ie. beginning of veg, and the beginning of flower when the buds are starting to really form up. just flush with regular ph-ed water. you'll be fine. use molasses next grow.

i have 2 to 2 1/2 weeks left, ive been told by many that molasses in the final 2-3weeks can make a big difference to bud size!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thats why i was asking, thankyou n peace.

if you want to use mollases then use it for the 2 to 2 1/2 weeks then just give a week flush.it will add a week to your grow but its worth a good strait flush.ive heard it will make your bud taste weird.

i don't post much anymore, but i had to speak on this:

the quoted statement is absolutely false. (besides the fact that your final flush should be water only.) do not listen to this! perfect example of perpetuated misinformation. i'm sure bubba means well, but this is wrong. there will be no sugar left in your bud from using molasses. there will be no residual effect and there will be no harsh taste. harsh tastes come from improper drying and curing, or failing to flush residual nutes, primarily nitrogen, from your bud. molasses is not used as a bud sweetener or flavor enhancer. it is biologically impossible for it to be used for that purpose. molasses is only used because it is a cheap source of carbohydrates. sugar molecules are too large to be taken in by the plant's roots.

quick biology lesson: plants use sunlight and water to convert carbon dioxide from the atmosphere into simple sugars. this is a process called photosynthesis. if a plant could absorb sucrose through it's roots, wouldn't that make photosynthesis pointless? :peace:
This is great advice, stopcallingmedude! Adding sugar during the last 6 weeks of flowering can add to the weight of the buds by up to 20%. SO decide what you want do. If you are going to just flush it with straight water, then go ahead.

However, if you're looking to add some weight to your buds for the final 2 weeks, then add at least 1 tbsp of molasses per gallon to the mix. Like stopcallingmedude suggested, the molasses won't add to the harsh taste. That you'd have to blame on the leftover nutrients that weren't flushed properly or for long enough. Be sure if you can to give long enough to cure to bring out that smooth taste. Personally, I have been using FloraNectar on my current grow which has natural raw cane sugar, molasses, malt syrup in it. When flushing, I'll continue to use this along with distilled water until chopping. Good Luck!

Just to add to this, the molasses/sugar actually breaks down the leftover nutes and other micro organisms in the soil and feeds it to your plant. So by using molasses throughout the whole flowering stage essential by doing a molasses and Ph'd water mix one day then after one day use nutes then after one day just Ph'd water then Water and molasses mix again and repeat. It's kinda like a mini flush every week and by doing this your feeding your plant more than ever therefore increaseing the mass of budds and the aroma and also the overall product. Also making sure your not over nuteing and keeping a balanced Ph. I used granny's molasses throughout the whole flowering stage. Worked great got an oz 1/2 off a 15" tall by 10" wide lady. Crazy bagseed genetics i guess........ or the molasses and some good lovin. Dunno still in my first grows. But i will experiment. Peace brother.

yah.. mollases is pretty much lke corn syrup .. some peps use it as a sweetner for tea or pancakes.. i personally like my tea with sugar, lol.. but, yah, it won't hurt eder the taste or smoothness of the smoke if you were to flush with the mollasses till the end of harvest.. i too use the same one that someone posted a pix of.. i am not from the uk, but i am sure you can find it at your local grocery store, it should b on the same aisle as the pancake syrup or the aisle with sugar and what not.. u want the stuff that is a syrup.. it looks almost like honey, only a lil darker in coloring, and pretty thick.. i use one to two tablespoons per gallon of water all the way thru flowering with no probs.. i have also read that it can increase bud size but like anything from 10 to 20 percent... and as to use it or not with only two weeks left to go, i would say go for it.. just b sure to do a proper flush at the end and you should be golden..
good luch mate.. and all looks great, they r sum sweet looking plants u've got there..

ok so i went to the local grocers and i found some "Brer Rabbit" all natural unsulphured molasses. it has 290 mg of potassium, 15g of total carbohydrates. 10% calcium, 15% iron, and 20% magnesium. this should work pretty good yes?
