Greenhouse/cage grow?

hic, that is good shit. I am in greenhouse territory. I was considering it just to use the meds for oil, edibles, hash, butter,
...but mainly rso.
I do not see any reason not to do one next spring. Belle wants a greenhouse to do flowers and regular plants anyway. I didn't know people used greenhouses for other plants. weird. j/k

I believe the quality of product coming out of the GH has to do with hrs of sunlight/growing season in your specific area, grower experience and how well the GH is dialed in... with the power of the sun you have the chance to grow the best bud ever, stuff that can not compare to indoor results. the sun delivers :fire: special esoteric properties beyond mega-wattage.

Hic- I'm gonna go have a look at the polycarbonate at menards, thanks man! :leaf:

First off let me say that it is legal. Do not let opinions sway your dream. I had a greenhouse last year and I am still here. The cops showed up for a totally diffrent topic. When they got here you can bet your ass they saw that greenhouse. It was locked it was enclosed and they knew damn well I was legal. They counted and kept on moving on with their lives.

Thatt being said let me tell you something that you must hear. Now that greenhouse is a sore to the community many of your higher ups feel. So that being said there is a saying that goes like this...if a tree falls in the woods and no one is there to hear it fall, did it fall?. If you are going to do this do it right! You see polycarbonite is not completly see threw yet lets the sun in. Try flying a helicopter 20 feet above polycarbonite with ridges. They will see nothing but a green blur.

If you do this do it right spend the cash on the materials that get it done. It is 30 a piece for polycarbonite at menards. I suggest the 4x8 panels for sides and the longer thinner ridgy panels for roof. Make it enclosed and make sure it locks! Tell no one that need not know.

As for outdoor growing well shit we can speak all day of opinions but we can get it done in a couple hours with facts... Fact one the more sun it gets the less leafy it will become - hence the main problem with outdoor buds is many never got the light thus resulting in what gladstoned and others speak of " a quality issue" many little things result in good quality outdoor. Plus you do not have to mess with these tinker toys we call HPS lights. You have real power with the sun on your side and the sun is said to have naturall healing ability to plants which the lights do not and cannot produce.

Lets talk and I think you should do it but like the others say location like real estate is a issue. I would not suggest growing in detroit city limits or any thing against the laws of common sense. Outdoor turns me on unlike the indoor so lets chat.

Nice to see you boys are at least considering growing outdoors! I know quality is a concern to many when it comes to outdoor and I will be the first to say that the buds I find grown outdoors in MI is usually not as good as the buds grown indoors in MI. I want to try to assure you that that is the genetics and or the growers fault. Too many people are allowed to represant a group as a whole.

Look at the boys in Cali read some of there posts and threads. Now beauty is in the eye of the beholder and that is that. Remember what God has built is much more perfect then what we can in our rooms. I assure you with good lighting, airy soil, molases at the end, a good flush, a slow dry and a nice cure you will be happy with your buds....not to mention all the money you can save your patients and yourself.

The main investment is building it good. I have about 2000$ in polycarbonite. I pay about 250$ a month on electricity for indoors, I pay 100$ everytime a campain of spidermites re-emerge, I had to pay 325$ a piece for 4 600 watt lights not to mention veg lights. Have to pay $80 when a bulb blows. I am just pointing some stuff out that many already know.

Not to mention a greehouse full of bud is like having your whole house full of bud..sure aint no grow room.lol I will put my GH grow up pretty soon and this one is bigger then the last 16x24 canopy of buds is what I will get this year..God willing

I'm right in the center of LAN, Jackson, Brighton and A2. I'll admit it's not the complete boonies here, but by this time of year when the trees fill-in, you can barely see my house from the road anymore. Maybe I can't go too big (yet) but it'd be a shame to not go for it and attempt to piece together something small. I'm just under 5 acres and have only 2 immediate neighbors, one adjacent north and one south, none east or west.

Hic I'd be interested in what you have learned about your GH design now that you've run it some already and how do you keep it cool? Perhaps slight tree coverage, at least cutting dwn on a few hrs of direct light isn't a bad thing!

Glad thanks for the superstore link... haven't been to that site in a few yrs! Immediately I noticed the automated shutters and exhaust fans. Also I kinda like the darker 'grey' polycarbonate, even tho it only transmits 30% light, it could be used on one or two sides of the GH to keep it even more stealth. maybe it's just nearly equivalent to using plywood. This entire thing is going to be a process, I have virtually no budget... we'll see where this goes, at least I can choose a site and design it this year if nothing more, that's still progress.

About the ventalation cause the heat and humidity is your biggest issue to overcome in the greenhouse. Last thing you want is a bag full of bud rot come the end of season. Last year I had probley a 4x4 section cut out of the poly and used that as intake. I kept it so I was still able to cover back up when not too hot. Strong fencing was used as kinda like a screen when the poly was off although I would not reccomend that to everybody cause there is always a person behind the profession and who knows what kinda person "police" is gonna come visit you.

This year I am using a diffrent approach. At the northern end of GH I have about a 4 inch gap running the width of GH on roof. I will use something in that gap to make it secure. I also have in the south end of building 2x16 empty ban around top of wall I will place heavy gauge fencing.

I will take a pic next time I go home. Greenhouse is built. Just no plants in the ground in it yet. Plants but not in ground.lol

I tried a air conditioner last year but found that it could not defeat the suns heat created in the GH..... ventalation can come pretty easy. A few vent fans and fans are all that will be needed to keep temps at high but exceptable levels.

Abe - Trees and Shade would be recommended if possible to detour heat build up. The cool thing about having something is making it yours! The sky is the limit. Well in this case MI law is but ya know.

According to your thread It all depends on your location and how leo's want to interpret the law. If it is in a cage with a roof and a locked door and "secure" it is legal

There was a legal cardholder that had his allowed number of plants enclosed in a fenced, locked garden. The cops showed up when he wasn't home, and tore down everything. I know he was found innocent, but he still lost all his meds.

I believe in this case the neighbor and he didn't get along and the guy called the cops on him though. Bastards could have at least waited for him to come home and show him his card.
This is why you keep posted copies of your card, paper work and drs rec, right on the wall in your grow room/greenhouse/cage whatever!

There can be no Outside signs that you are growing, that mean no one can see it, or smell it. so as long as you can't see or smell whats inside from ground or sky, you are good to go

Do you need a polycarbonate roof or could you put a dog run with a chain link top within an ordinary greenhouse/hoophouse? That way it would be harder to tell what's inside and would look like any other greenhouse.

for the real cheap-

a garage in a box is 12x 20, and goes for about 225. buy greenhouse style plastic fastener and screw it to the tent barn frame, cover it in plastic(clear 2 layers). use the opaque green cover for a winter time grow room or hothouse. i bet for for five hundred you'd be rockin.
