..all the ballast look like they're made in the same place so wouldn't surprise me about the bulbs either
Have HPS bulbs been tested before ending in stores...or why look used

If they say tested, they're all tested. They can't print tested on the box an untested bulb is in. That's like putting "contains no sugar" on a soda can that has a ton of sugar in it.
I couldn't find a picture of HPS test lines, but I did find a picture of an LED bulb test line. The HPS line I saw looked very similar to this:
As the treadmill approaches you, notice the line where the bulbs are no longer burning? There's about another 30 feet or so to the end of that where the bulbs cool down and enter the inspection area before they're packaged. The HPS lines I saw where only about 5 bulbs wide and they were further apart, in all likelihood to account for the heat they put off, but other than that it looked virtually similar.

There are different types of testing. Of course you don't know that as you're used to just shooting your mouth off about things you know nothing about.So we now realise that all electrical products are tested. Glad we can put that really really important fact to bed
Some test only the continuity and resistance to see that the device in question (could be anything from a bulb to a calculator) meets specifications. Others live test. Most HPS and MH bulbs and a good many LED bulbs are live tested for more than one reason.
So, yes. It is important. It goes a long way to showing the real difference between a 12 dollar bulb that has a simple multi meter test done on it and a 40 dollar bulb that undergoes a live test and inspection before packaging.
In the end, you do actually get what you pay for.

Thats the loop hole..with selling burned looking bulbs...do they become like that after testing or are some of us buying used crap..

If you were stupid enough to buy it from some shithole shop that has 20 fixtures running with that same bulb in it, then yeah. You probably bought used shit...and you deserve it.
If you ordered it from Amazon or a reputable dealer, you have nothing to worry about.
That's the problem with the world at large: idiots make assumptions based on their own ignorance and what they do to others.
The truth is typically the polar opposite.

Other equipment vise I ain't got anything to complain..I am just trying to find a way to know the facts of bulbs that can they look used even they ain't...maybe somebody can enlighten me so I know that any bulb which color can't be from testing that in fact the color comes from much longer time of usage than that...
Yes somebody stated earlier of getting back bright after 10 hours if new bulb...but the above is still a bit of a mystery....

Ive worked for electrical comlanies at factory point, they dont give qc's for untested product and at least in my country we have strict laws govening that.
Consider it is you that shouts your mouth of and i simply use my brain...

Amazon is simply a gathering point for many to sell their wares now. Amazon sub contracts with outside sellers who have the for sale items to sell, You order, Amazon gets a % and the little guy you know nothing about, with the product in question. Packs and ships to you with Amazon packing material they supply him with.
In fact I have gotten items not in amazon packing and from outside vendors but, ordered on Amazon.
The idea is to get you your item asap....
Some schmuck from a commercial grow op. Could be repacking used bulbs and slipping them in any order..... You just don't know....
I'll stick to my wholesale dealers....

I just get the hair on the back of my neck stand up when I read flat out claims of the most expensive thing being best....
I will not use the big name $ bulbs. The cost effectiveness in my ops don't cover it...
Pictures eh? Sometimes I don't like this but, having posted these before - there have been minor adjustments as time has passed - here you go. (No whole veg room pics - ever)
#1 Bloom room - 12x24. Lights spaced out on 6" centers for overlap lighting power. The extra 400w is a Merc vapor used late in bloom for the UVB rays. This pic was taken during the testing of that, in the new facility. They all have this now... No, I am not standing against the wall behind me....You get the idea though right?
This is a shot of the working part of that 20% more hood - The Jupiter line of 6 and 8" hoods. The guy screwed himself in marketing them. I bought 1 to test it and it did everything the guy said it would. I built the new facility and when ready to hang lighting. I went back for more. He was out of business. Gave him a direct call and he had just enough for me to fill the building. I had to pay his suggested retail for them and he kept enough for him. He didn't want to part with them and it took a cpl of weeks of talking to bring him around to make the sale.
Air flow is good too.
Additional information: I just got a case of six new branded bulbs from a wholesaler to drum up business for the new bulb...
I'll let you all know how they go and give a name for them in a cpl of runs. They get changed this coming week.
Can't beat free with a EYE Hort! LOL

Right, sure.......In the news just the day before yesterday. There was woman artist who sells wares on Amazon. She complained to them that a Chinese person is making cheap knock offs and selling them through a US based sales agent. Giving her and her real products a bad name.
She has complained for over 2 years and NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE! The fake knock offs are still being sold through Amazon AND the account is still going. This news report also contained others having the SAME exact problem..
Amazon is nothing but a profit driven machine! They could give a fuck about you and your complaint... This was the basic gist of the story! How Amazon is screwing legit dealers and ignoring the fake or corrupt one's....
Ebay can be worse!
Caveat Emptor - There is a law called this - "Let The Buyer Beware" law.... It has to do with YOU figuring out if the product is legit. Just how do you do that from a written description? This is the gray area of online sales. You bought it - "Tough shit"

I can confirm everything the Doc says in this post.......the reason. ...because I've been through all the bullshit that is Amazon and ebay .....all they care about is themself ........our version of legit is obviously different from theirs.........if buying online find ONE GOOD store and get to no them....remember they WANT you to come back......
