think i'll stick to my house hold ones, they come in 26watt 6500k color, great for vegging, especially a slow veg.

slowly been playing with the new led bulbs, trying a 60watt 5000k color one now in my veg room in addition to the 26watter i have in there now.....keepin my fingers crossed
Your gonna need alot more power to pull off a full grow......ALOT more.....

Cool
already did a complete grow with cfls, 8 26watts(100watt 6500k) and 4 14watts (60watt 2700k) and it didn't even move my electric bill (:
How many did u do n what dry weight? I just started 4 white lsd under cfl's.... Once they grow a bit will use 6 x 65w (4@7000k & 2@6500k) & 8 24/[email protected] have a 100w led spotlight for good measure. They been in the dirt for 3 full days.....

Home depot has a huge selection of cfl bulbs. I just bought a 4 pack of the 100 watt equivalent ( 23 actual watt ) cfls for like 20 bucks or something. I used about 10 total when vegging a few plants. Small plants at that. Just by 4 or 5 reflectors and some socket splitters so you can to 2 cfls per reflector and ur good till your ready to flower. Is reccomend either led for flowering if you want to keep electricity costs down. Obviously Hps is ideal for flowering. Or you can do what i did and rum both hps and led for flowering. Which I might add has been working fucking great since I added the led to my tent

I have seen people spend up to 200 bucks on a cfl setup adding lights and so on were in was cheaper just to buy a hps or mh people complain about heat and power but 20 cfl lights will double in heat if a 250w hps and will cost more in power

Only growing 4.....& will add as I go along. I have a major problem with heat & believe an hps or mh will cost a lot more in the long run, as I'd have to have my air-con on constantly. As it is at the moment using 4 x 65w cfl's (1 per pot), my max daytime temp is around 31c without using air-con at all......which I'm happy with........
the attached picture is after 4.5 days....... the cfls are 65 watt (325w equivalent) @7000k........
cost $5USD each...................

Ok Lots of opinions here, which is good. How cool do you get your room when its 45c outside? I can't suck cool air from anywhere....lol....... I have read many reports where guys use cfls & get as much as hps.......suppose there's only one way to find out......
but I'm willing to bet that I get much more than 1oz per......and it's my first real attempt........lots of different factors in play........

On another note: where in Oz is 45c the norm? think you may be exaggerating a tad....Alice Springs.....average maximum 32c?

No. Just, no.

250 watts of CFL will produce about the same as a 250 watt HID, but then what's the point? CFL is one of the worst options for lighting. With all of the options currently available, I don't understand why anybody would choose CFLs. Even Home Depot Ecosmart bulbs(http://www.homedepot.com/p/EcoSmart-100W-Equivalent-Daylight-A19-Dimmable-LED-Light-Bulb-2-Pack-5bSA1600STQ1D03/206668165) with the diffusers removed are a better option. Honestly, I would take some cheap, chinese, blurple led over CFLs.

You are incorrect. You would have been right a couple of years ago. Current LED tech is beating HID. That's not an opinion.

Can't get proper grow lights where I live unfortunately, online suppliers don't deliver! Are led high Bay lights or spotlights any use? 300 watt spotlight @6500k with 33000 lumens? Seems someone's been leading me down the wrong path..

How do you not get anything delivered? You're posting here, so you're obviously not off the grid. You can't even order stuff from Amazon or Ebay? Where do you live?

I find that shipping, at least for my area, is crazy for lots of eBay stuff. I'm have prime which helps sometimes. I would imagine the high bay lights are probably not optimum spectrum wise. The homedepot lights as stated may be a better option than CFL's.,I have in the past used T5's for a complete grow, it was okay but never did many, I just head outdoors when summer arrives ;(.

Pretty much off the grid in SE Asia. Get Internet thru a dish on a 40 foot pole, unless it's raining or there's a power cut....Amazon & eBay deliver some things, but not proper grow lights or nutes......
Attached pic is the back yard....
