Help with CFL light

No. Just, no.

250 watts of CFL will produce about the same as a 250 watt HID, but then what's the point? CFL is one of the worst options for lighting. With all of the options currently available, I don't understand why anybody would choose CFLs. Even Home Depot Ecosmart bulbs(http://www.homedepot.com/p/EcoSmart-100W-Equivalent-Daylight-A19-Dimmable-LED-Light-Bulb-2-Pack-5bSA1600STQ1D03/206668165) with the diffusers removed are a better option. Honestly, I would take some cheap, chinese, blurple led over CFLs.
Access denied to the link......just one of the many problems I have......pmsl

Pretty much off the grid in SE Asia. Get Internet thru a dish on a 40 foot pole, unless it's raining or there's a power cut....Amazon & eBay deliver some things, but not proper grow lights or nutes......
That sucks. Contact these guys and see if they can somehow ship this diy kit to you. This Vero kit will crush whatever you're attempting with CFLs.

Also, Cutter is an Australian based company. They might be able to work out shipping with you. Even the single Vero 18 kit would help out a lot.
Edit: Whoops. Never mind. The single kit is really warm(1750K). Their Vero 18 4 cob kit has a 3500K option, which is a good all around spectrum.

F'n dumbasses on this forum. And you know who you are.

Doesn't need a ballast just a mogul socket and it'll work fine upright or on it's side.

Just buy a mogul socket and wire it in in place of a regular socket. All the same except for the size.

Better to remain silent and be thought an idiot than proving you are by flapping your gums about things you obviously know nothing about. View attachment 3985400
Hoping you picked up on my sarcasm???
A lot of guys are using small LED light bulbs to grow with now but they bust the diffuser off the bulb so the LED chips can shine directly on the plants. Should be able to find all sorts of references to it in the LED forum.
this! I have a 10 bulb rig i built for a veg light. It works great! Fuller spectrum and crushes cfl in output watt for watt.
yeah that's what i did with this one, i poke my head in there a couple of times for some good info. Still do to figure out setups. Like the idea that u can mix and or seperate areas while keeping the same wattage of bulb but with the color light difference, just surprised they don't go up to 6500k color
Not needed. Cfls spectral distribution chart has huge peaks and valleys leaving alot to be desired. The difference in the °k rating is making up for lack of other colors by over compensating with 1.

6 @ 5000°k 4 @ 2700°k. Buy the bulbs at home depot, 4 pack is 5$.

so those leds are 100 w equivalent? i was under the impression (with what i've read) that they need to be closer to the canopy? i'm having a bash at this....cheers!

No, 100 actual watts. 8 of them are 8.2-8.5 watts, the other 2 are like 11 or 12?? Always use actual watts. Equivalent dosnt help anybody but the people trying to sell the bulbs. Younger plants can easily get burnt by these bulbs when you remove the diffuser. My setup is currently about 15" above the canopy. I have a couple bigger girls that are that are more like 8-10. When mine got burnt, it was a slow cooker situation. Lowered my light to about 8" but they were all pretty small, like 6" and it took 2 weeks to see the effects. I think you will be very happy with this setup.

Surprisingly enough the little guy I have is enjoying the led bulb add on with the CFL bulbs. Makes me wanna push for a box of them and figure out the combination I need for flowering.

I would go with an 80/20 or 60/40 ratio. The bulbs i use are 2700 or 5000°k, im going 6 bulbs 5k, 4 2700k. Flip it to bloom. Either color have a much fuller spectrum than typical of hps or cfl. My buddies veg cab has a 4 bulb 2' t5 fixture running spectralux 6500°k bulbs and he just picked up a 4' led strip light on clearance for 20$. I forget the wattage and lumens of it but its not much. The plants are actually leaning over to the led side.

yeah i have a feeling your right on spot with that cause if i look at my cfl combination it was similiar to a 60/40 split when i did it. Seem also led bulbs are more directional in a since? correct me if i'm wrong.

More directional in that the light is more focused in one spot instead of all directions? Yes. Taking the diffuser off is the biggest factor. With it on it behhaves more like a cfl but still provides better spectrum and par. Popping off or cutting and modifying the diffuser is like putting it in hyper overdrive! A more intense, focused, unfiltered beam. If you difnt catch it before, these will burn your plants! I can run my setup 15" off the canopy with no stretching. Ill doodle up a little diagram of spacing and spread for ya, hopefully it helps!
