Horizontal vs Vertical lights

So I use a hybrid home made version of GH aero/hydro set up...

GENERAL HYDROPONICS

I only put 3 plants per tube, but I didn't buy the set up, I made it out of a 40 gallon res and some plastic fence post material. I just glued the end caps on and used soem hole saws to make my own webpot holes and access spots... drain holes so whatever...

the Horizontal lighting is what I started with since it is what I had.... building the vert set up in another room..

and a little more of the vertical...

IF i see differences.. I guess we will see.

Feel free to post tips if you have experience with either style.

These hydro set ups are the best by far as I can tell - Aeroponice at the webpot site, shallow water hydro, then some NFT at the drain pipe, the DWC once they reach the res.. Never had a drain clog yet, but would like to know if anyone has.

Anyone else experiment with these?

I think the Horizontal Displaces the light over the area much better than the vertical. The horizontal plants seem to have a much brighter appearance IMO man. Awesome experiment. Oh and im lovin your air cooled lighting system.

It looks that way to me too, but the plants on the vertical light are staying nice and bushy and seem to have more bud sites. They also have 2 1000 watt HPS and a 1000 watt MH.

The horizontal grow is keeping up though under just one 1000 watt HPS.

Time will tell.

I accidentally deleted the old photos off of photobucket :-(

The vertical stuff is almost 8 weeks, took a few of them down - gonna let others go longer.. I can't really tell the difference between the vertical vs horizontal. Just seems the vertical lights cover more space. I think a combo of both is the best idea.

Anyway check out these nugs - super frosty. Super dense, not much yield but I think it's the plants genetic style.

So I have been inspired to go at it again..

I am going to grow Herrajuana (sp?) from a mother.

Going to use the aero set up again, 3 tubes with 2 plants per tube - I want the roots to have some real space this time. I am not going to veg as I am throwing my clones right into 12/12 - I think they will grow big enough w/o a veg.. They will be under 1 1000 watt HPS and 1 400 watt HPS - room is super ventilated and has A/C just incase the temp goes up too high it will kick on.

So I made a ghetto manifold out of funny pipe - I made it tall like that on purpose because the pump is a little too strong so I wanted to slow it down just a little by having it shoot straight up 3 feet - worked like a charm, my laser lines are working perfectly.

So here it is so far, about 5 days.

I see you use the basic design I build and posted how to build feew months ago. Not sure why you only do 3 plants though. I cut my orginal down from 32 plants to 28.Love these setups 10 days veg and 5 weeks flower then harvest.Did you use misters or just a hose line with holes drilled inside? Heres some of my stuff in these Made..These are the newest grow 2 weeks into flower 10 days of veg using 2 600 watt lights on a light mover on a tandaem bar I built to carry both on 1 motor..And this link was my last grow that finished made a journel out of it.Yielded 120 plus oz wet in 6 weeks not bad... https://www.rollitup.org/grow-journals/9363-ok-first-aero-grow-journel.html

I have the sprayer tubes with the holes drilled in them "laser lines" -

My medical card only allows me to have 6 plants budding at a time.. also before when I did put more plants the roots started clogging up the drain tubes so now I only do a few per tube.

You haven't had any trouble with the drains clogging or just the tubes filling up with too much roots?

Someday I may go rouge and grow illegally and fill the fucker up - I only have 5 tubes - 30 sites worth, a 40 gallon res should house those easily enough.

Just keeping it simple and legal is all - I would like to see some pics of your roots and how deep you keep the water in the tubes...
