How much PPFD for clones that I am trying to root.

I am really trying to limit the amount of equipment I have so I sold all my t5s that I used to root my clones in the past.

Wondering if anyone has any suggestions for how much light to give rooting clones.
I know too little light will slow down rooting and too much light will as well.

Looking for that sweet spot. Currently I am at 100 - 200 ppfd

100-200 is about right i use 150

depends on a lot of factors- size of clone, temp and humidity, media vs aero/dwv etc etc

i can jam on the dwc cloners, they root fast but suck nutes in the process. rockwool cubes are off to the side with less light and plain water only until i see roots

Could I keep clones in a grow space shorter than 13inch?
Since a low ppfd is needed could a cob driven really low work? Or should I look at Samsunsg strip?
(clones in jiify)

any of those work fine. take cuts from lower branches of healthy moms without too much nitrogen loading and you can do fine under all kinds of light. you dont need much. potatoes sprout roots in the dark, think about that.

I use a single 50w full spectrum with dwc cloning in a 2x2 area. I don't know what the ppfd is but the clones have roots six inches long seven to ten days average and no light shock in transplant.

hey vegas what do you use for water/nutes in your dwc cloner. ive had mixed results with mine. if they dont root within 7-10 days they get slimed out a lot of times. its like all or nothing for me in dwc so i still take rockwool safety clones which are slower but closer to 100% success

Thx as always.
What color temperature do you suggest? I vegged successfully with 3500k.do you think 5-6k would be better?

6500K LED is not the same as 6500K T5. theres a lot more growth-inhibiting blue in the LED

3000-5000K is a good range

If you use clear rez you won't have that slime issue anymore. I make my own from HTH Pool Shock.

so whats that? sodium hypochlorite?

i experimented with 5ml and 10 ml H202 but it seemed to inhibit rooting

I use RO water and clonex. Clean weekly. I use aero spinners for air no bubblers for me. I also use cold packs to keep it cool from the pump running 24/7. Put cold pack below tank at pump location keeps water cool no slime. I get them from Dick's Sporting goods. work great, just freeze and replace every 12 hours not hard to do. I changed to full spectrum light and increased my results by a good 50%. healthier and dark lush green cuts while rooting.

what sort of water temps?

is the the aerospinner you speak of?

http://eastwesthydro.com/hydroponics/cloning-propagation/aerogarden/aerogarden-360-degree-clone-spinner-708190

so youre aerocloning not dwc?

Those are the closest. I have the old 360 clone spinners and those as well. Yes i have custom built aero system. Water temps seem to hover around lower 70's. I don't take readings. I keep the levels fairly low. That is why I use those cooler ice packs, under the bucket where the water pump is located https://www.webstaurantstore.com/62-oz-freeze-pack-ice-pack/4504943.html?utm_source=Google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=GoogleShopping&gclid=CLfaxcyIndQCFQWewAod1FEISg
change em out once a day or so, as needed, twice at most.

one last question, when you say clonex i assume you mean the liguid. mixing at the strength they suggest (5-10ml/L) gives some impossibly high (IMO) EC for cuts. i use more like 10 mL/gal which gives me about 700EC (on top of 200EC tap)

I use the gel and let them sit for about 10 minutes and then into aero cloner they go. I found the full spectrum works better for the plants than other lights I have used in the past.

i do that as well, have a dedicated empty cloner with newspaper in that collects the purple goo that drips off. In the meantime I just keep them misted while theyre hangin out and i prep the rez, but yeah, same 10-20 minutes for me

so clonex gel+ RO only, no nutes at all for you? which spectra seems to work the best for you? simulated sunlight?
