How much PPFD for clones that I am trying to root.

i do that as well, have a dedicated empty cloner with newspaper in that collects the purple goo that drips off. In the meantime I just keep them misted while theyre hangin out and i prep the rez, but yeah, same 10-20 minutes for me

so clonex gel+ RO only, no nutes at all for you? which spectra seems to work the best for you? simulated sunlight?
Yep just ro water and keep it cool. I use a full spectrum cob pink

Those are the closest. I have the old 360 clone spinners and those as well. Yes i have custom built aero system. Water temps seem to hover around lower 70's. I don't take readings. I keep the levels fairly low. That is why I use those cooler ice packs, under the bucket where the water pump is located https://www.webstaurantstore.com/62-oz-freeze-pack-ice-pack/4504943.html?utm_source=Google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=GoogleShopping&gclid=CLfaxcyIndQCFQWewAod1FEISg
change em out once a day or so, as needed, twice at most.

@VegasWinner do you have a link to your aerocloner build?!?

Put a thermometer in a glass of water on the floor....that will tell you the temp of any rez sitting on that floor...Old homebrew method that proves true...

Sorry no pics. Use a submersible pump adapt it to pvc with some clear hose inside the pvc. drill and tap a hole in a pvc end cap. take a piece of pvc and attach it to pump, screw spinner into end cap, place end cap on end of pvc set below bucket height, put on lid, with holes for net pots, and pump power cord. Plug in cord to timer and pump comes on/off on schedule providing oxygenated nutrients to exposed roots.

you already see the 360 spinner. I use a drill and tap to make the holes in the pvc. I also use a T and two spinners for larger buckets.

I'd like to update this thread and answer my own question based on my testing in the past few years

clones will root in 10ppfd just the same as 50ppfd and 75ppfd

So the range for cuttings that are in a cloner no roots trying to be rooted

25ppfd - 75ppfd

Is this using the purple gel?

I have had different experiences. If I leaves my cuutting in the gel for more than a few minutes I seem to get burn on my cuttings?

If I dip it and plant it, it roots fine...

I use two 5w LED bulbs over a 15" x 25" table. Roots in 10 days. I've been using tap water with Azos, PHed to 5.8.

I'll take readings tomorrow. On paper about 140 but bulbs in an open area, I'd guess about half that.

ive since switched to dip n gro. way more cost effective and you can mix up a small amount as you need it without contaminating the bottle. a $30 bottle or whatever is like a lifetime supply

ive always wondered about the people who say they 'consistently' root in 5-7 days

even taking the most ideal healthy clones ive only seen maybe one or two strains that would show roots that soon. i have close to 100% success rate but 10-14 days is the norm with some strains taking up to 21 days. ive since moved back to 1" rockwool cubes as im ending up in the blocks anyway... and its a lot quicker than sterilizing the cloner and collars. i can take the extra few days for rockwool to hit close to 100% with no chance of the deadly slime

seems like everyhting comes back to the basics eventually

i looked at a dome i had stashed at the bottom of a tent. gave it the least attention of any other clones going right now

definitely lower light level than i usually root under

were throwing roots after same 10-14 days, and were *at least* as healthy

in my experience lower light keeps them greener and they dont eat themselves alive

ill measure light in that area with ppfd meter tonight. ill bet it was 10-40 ppfd

I've switched back and forth between water and cubes. I'm currently running a DIY cloner, 1 gallon bucket with a single air stone surrounded by 5 inserts. I use a couple at a time, run bennies in the water, so far so good. What I like about it is the air stone and tubing are replaced each use and the rest is easy to sanitize, just bucket and lid.
