Hi again.

Im thinking of buying a 2,5ft x 2,5ft tent and set it up in the closet. Its gonna be a very stealthy grow, proper ventilation cant be used even if I can have an open cabinet 6 days out of 7.

Ive been recommended and looked into the Hans panel, and its seems bloody good, but what are the record? I notice his records seems to be with 2 panels and sticklings, and Im gonna grow from seed (no auto, seen problem with them under Hans).

I guess the tent is a little oversized for the panel, therefor Im thinking of supplementing in the floweringphase with ~100w cfl 2700k.

Ive also heard "less it more" with leds, leading me into growing 2 or max 3 plants in the tent, using scrog and other technics, would it be possible to get lets say, 60+ dried every 4 months?

Ive seen high numbers by Psuargo, but Im totally fresh in this game, would want to be able to push 100g when getting good.

What do you think of the supplementing idea? Buying 2 panels isnt an option at the moment, maybe later on if/when Im getting a mother/stickling-chamber.

Best regards,
Dtrip

I wasn't expecting a lot I have pulled 6 oz from 3 plants with my shitty ufo/cfl setup I can almost grow faster than I can smoke it not a heavy smoker but my main question is how does this light compare to the blackstar I have seen some good results from the blackstars for what there worth and I don't have the money for an area 51 lol.

Reading all those post there is still no concencus on LED lights. I bought some of those 5W LED E27 bulbs from China trying to assemble a panel, my plants in vegetation did not seemed to grow happy under it until I supplemented lighting with some 30W Clf, but then why bother with LED's?
Seems every month or so they are coming up with "new" "ultimate" "absolutely the best" LED's panel at inflated prices.
Latest fad are cree 2700 w warm light LED's, it reminds to be seen for how long. After all all those 10 band LED's did not really cut it, did they ? LOL.
So I am not going to "invest" in technology which is not proven, stable, and investment sound.

I stick with 150W - 1000W HPS depends on my current growing needs.

LED lights are like religion of "Climat change" or recently religion of Obama care.

If I offended any of "proggressive" liberal friends here, I am not sorry and I do NOT apologize.

You will make my day throwing insults at me.... Just substantiate your claims based on reality with facts, not myths, wishes, and false dreams.

Happy growing everybody.

yes you sound like my parents lol with the piggy bank thing. So your saying this panel is the same as the blackstar is it just an older model? Has any1 ever used this panel with success. Plus it has to be better than the 3 ufos I bought used for $100 total, which I can always use for additional side lighting right? Thanks

found out the difference between it and the blackstar it only has 1 w leds and the blackstar has 2 and 3 watt but this panel has 288 individual leds and the blackstar has only 80 what does this mean in terms of penetration?

Currently I am looking to either augment my current setup with LED or go fully LED. Because of the laws in my state I can only have 4 mature plants. My current approach is to scrog a clone out to about 4 x 4 and place it under a 1000w HPS with a good bulb for flowering. This gets me about 1.5 lbs per light. Can someone recommend a light configuration that could replace my 1000w HPS? I've looked at the black dog, sol 9 ,area 51 and solar storm. I'm also wondering if anyone had thoughts about using LEDs in conjunction with HPSs? I was considering going with something with a red dominant spectrum and mixing it in with my HPSs. Do people feel like the LED + HPS combo could maintain the same yield but increase resin production?

Yesterday I ordered the Sol 9 with the 100 watt chip sets. I will have 6 to 8 DWC buckets under this unit. I have 4 already under leds that are about 2 weeks into flowering and are over 2 feet with multiple tops. Also have added a small burner and digital co2 controller. I'll update after it comes. I plan on using the full 5'x5' area.

Just my two cents, but if I were to supplement with HID I would seriously consider MH with LED's. If you have a magnetic 400 ballast a CMH would be really nice!

To make it my nickel, I would be more likely to stick with the HID. If you decide to go towards LED, be ready for some growing pains. The really successful LED grows I've seen on here definitely took some dialing in and adjusting from HID. It seems the first battle is choosing an adequate light, the second is using it to its maximum potential.

Good luck!

Thanks for the info. I love the input. Why would you prefer MH with LED's - is it that LED is short on blue? I've never looked into CMH so if you know of a good site to read up on it I would appreciate it. My ballasts can definitely run them.

As you know LED manus' spectral analysis will differ. If you're shopping arrays that are efficient for red photosynthesis, simply adding more red may not benefit you as much as you might hope or expect. Adding a wider spectrum would probably be my choice personally.

Not too long ago there were some growers on this site that used CMH VERY successfully and convincingly. I tried the combination with my first LED experiment which failed due to bad LED engineering, a mistake on my part. http://www.riddlem3.com/ is a great forum to check out if you're interesting in CMH. I'm pretty sure you will find a lot of growers loyal to that type of lighting there. Last I knew though, magnetic ballast support only.

Here's a spectral analysis I ripped from another site.

I have a 4-plant, top-drip hydro 4'x4' walk-in closet grow currently set up with a 1000w HPS. Because the closet is upstairs I'm having to run AC to keep the temps down. This means I'm spending a ton in electricity just for 4 plants and beginning to think the HPS is bigtime overkill.

Anyhow I'm looking to convert to LED in hopes of greatly reducing my power bill, and would greatly appreciate some recommendations for lights. I have a $600 max budget, but would prefer to spend closer to $400.

I don't expect to exactly match the results of the HPS, but do plan to flower when the plants are shorter.* At minimum, I need to at least adequately light my 3x3 flood tray. If I could even get 8-12 oz for ~500w, I'd be thrilled.

I've done a scrog and LST before, so not shy about trying to maximize a lesser-penetrating light source.

After reading for hours I'm leaning towards either 2x 240w Blackstars off Amazon or 4 Kessils (Reds?).

The Mars II's also sound good but that lgledsolutions website lists no prices and seems super shetchy. I noticed another site that also seems to have them which actually looks somewhat more legit at topledgrowlight.com. Either of these worth while?

I've attached some photos of my current little PPK grow (week 3 flower) for reference.

Thanks so much in advance!!

I would not recommend Blackstar or Kessil, both are known to have serious drawbacks, including weak flowering, and short lifespans.
Area 51 is about release a new all white LED light that covers a 3x3 area and it's well within your price range.
They use top notch Cree 5W LED's and have a lifetime warranty.
I think one of these panels would make you happy, and two of them, could probably rival your current yield.
