I just used a power meter to verify wattage used.
And what if I I applied the thermal paste badly? For example. It should draw the same wattage but the output would be different. Or not?

theyre pretty predictable if you design to the specs on the datasheet
I am worried for human error, like thermal paste and... I can't think at any other possibility..

perfect, i am going to buy an MW driver here in Arg. ,model : hlg-240-h-c700a( i cant get any driver of more mA) , was thinking of 6x luminus cxm22 3500k 90cri, or 6x citizen 048-1818 90cri , plus the 6x Ideal holders and the 6x thermal pads, all with active cooling.
Do you think this could be a good choice?

youre over the voltage of the ideal holders but not by too much

ofcourse, I did not take that into account , i can get 2 hlg-120h-c700 , constant current of this model is 107v-215v and run 3 citizen's in each, the other model that i can get wich is hlg185h-c700a got constant current 146v-286v , and run 4 citizen each, but those extra 36 V, could be a problem?

in practice i wouldnt sweat it too much 250-300V isnt as big of a deal as 300-450V

can you get constant voltage drivers like -48A/54B? these are much better in my opinion for running cobs at low current

i just found another reseller of MW here in Argentina with a ver large catalog of MW, included constant current and constant voltage drivers, sended them an email so tomorrow i hope i will get an answer.

@CobKits, i ordered some 1212 from you last night, im looking to build single cob lights, high bay style. do you plan on stocking hbg series meanewell drivers? Iam having a hard time finding them. thanks

Hi @CobKits , I'm going to buy 4×1818 and hlg-320h-48a wired in series will it work? I want add 2 more chip later .or can you advise something better in this budget ? Approx 250$

You will need to wire them parrell with that driver. Take a look at the luminus cxm22 chips a little cheaper than the 1818's and seem to be a little better. good luck

do you now how much exactly current on thisdriver ? Spec saids it's 6,7a but on cobkits it saids 7,6 I'm kinda noob in electrical stuff . Also maybe some links for par spec for this cxm22

6.7A = "rated" power per datasheet. NEC requires that led drivers nameplate current be ~90% of max. max per test report is 7.6A. meanwells are usually way overbuilt and i have yet to see any adverse consequences running them at full tilt.

as far as specs on cxm22, every test i do it runs right with much more expensive cobs up to 70W. i think its the best most cost effective option in the range we use our chips

I have the same driver, turned all the way up it pulls 390 watts or so at the wall. Not sure of the amps it pulls.

From what I see, that driver does 238v. 238 volts divided by 7 drivers = 34 volts per driver, which is exactly what Citi lists as the typical voltage of those chips. So from what I can tell, yes -- that driver will work. Total wattage will be right at 250.

"typical voltage" isnt as useful as actual voltage. you need to look up the voltage at the current and temp you want to run it at. according to citi calculator depending on the case temp its 33-34V between 35 and 70C case temp
