Introducing CobKits.com - specializing in DIY and Citizen COBs

can always bulk order from cooliance and tap and drill yourself.
Ya but with an order of close to 300 heatsinks I'd be running the tap and die for weeks.
I can get them from Alibaba but I'd have to order them now for them to arrive in June.
I still don't even know what chip I'm going to settle on. Right now I'm going to test the new Vero's I got for flower. But I'm interested in the CXM chips if they're as good as Jamie from CobKits says.

What driver would you guys recommend to drive 5 Citizen Cobs model CLU048-1212C4 90 CRI? I recently just got them and have been having a hard time finding which driver would be most efficient, I would like to wire them in series and have only one driver with not many excess V left on the driver.

Thanks I appreciate it!

depends how hard you want to drive them
Well considering they fluctuate around 8%, they FV is 35.7, but I'd like to get 40-50 watts off of them so 200-250 total of watt draw from the wall. I'm doing passive air fins so no need for fans.

I can only find HG 240 Meanwell at 1.2A which has enough Voltage but i don't know if there will be enough current to drive all 5. It's been awhile since I've taken physics

Oh and I don't really know what voltage would be most efficient for them, I'm guessing 40 volts per, perhaps 50. I'd like to try to get as close to max efficiency as possible with my budget

theyre pretty consistent from chip to chip

I vs V looks something like

I V
0.1 31.54
0.2 32.14
0.3 32.63
0.4 33.05
0.5 33.43
0.6 33.8
0.7 34.13
0.8 34.47
0.9 34.75
1 35.04
1.2 35.62
1.4 36.15
1.6 36.65
1.8 37.13
2 37.56
2.2 37.98
2.4 38.37
2.6 38.77
2.8 39.16
3 39.52
3.2 39.87
3.4 40.22

so
1.05A = ~35.2 x 5 = 176V -> hlg185-c1050 is 190V
1.4A = 36.15*5 = 181V -> hlg240-c1400 is 179V and would prob work
1.75A = ~37V x 5 = 185V ->hlg320-c1750 is 183V and would prob work
2.1A= ~37.8V x 5 = 189V ->hlg480-c2100 is 229V

i need to test the upper voltage limits of some of these cc drivers, thats not the first time thats come up (this week)

voltage doesnt determine efficiency. voltage is related to whatever current you apply to them. in no cases will a 1212 ever run below 30 or above 40V

lower currents are always more efficient (at the cost of more chips). rule of thumb: for a given wattage if you double the number of chips to give half the current to each chip, your efficiency goes up 10% relatively (ie from 50% to 55%, not absolutely, like 50% to 60%)

Really? I suppose an 1818 chip would have ran at 70-80 then?

I already bought the 5 CLU048-1212C4-353H6K2 at basically 10$ a piece with free shipping, somewhere on that description I saw max V at 117.5W lol, I couldn't resist, I didn't even need them but I've been watching some Growau5 vids and he basically made me want to try it myself.

I've been checking your store(I'm surprised your not on other sites, these are my first couple posts) and will probably buy the ideal holders, adapters, driver and reflectors here soon.

I'm kind of on a budget but I'd like to finish it soon.

With the ,

hlg240-c1400 I'd be running at 253.4 watts

hlg320-c1750 I'd be running at 323.75 watts

hlg480-c2100 I'd be running at a whopping 396.9

You said lower current would be better, and the hlg240 barely has enough juice to cover the chips, so would the hlg320-c1750 be best choice?

400 watts of led would be overload in a 1m x 1m

70-80 what? not sure i understand

thats Watts not Volts. if you ordered them from ebay i hope they arrive (mine didnt, seller is MIA)

always open to recommendations. some like ICmag ant THCfarmer are just prohibitively expensive

that doesnt matter, if it lights up it lights up

so would the hlg320-c1750 be best choice?
thats on the higher side of where most people run 1212s but it would work

400 watts of led would be overload in a 1m x 1m

yes its on the upper end but not ridiculous

An 1818v would run at 70-80v I would imagine.
I did purchase them off of Ebay which if anything, PayPal will refund me if the seller goes awol. I'll message you the seller Saved some money, so maybe it will be worth it. Which would you recommend?
