is flushing a noob tactic?

ive heard both sides of this argument and it makes sense to me that if you give a plant everything it needs and nothing more, that there would be no need for a flush. that means dialing it in, though... which isnt noob at all.

basically im saying that, in my opinion, if you have a hard-on for a flush, then there might be a need to take a look at your nutrient regiment.

...or am i way off base?

IMO, the only need for a flush is an over application of nutes, which in itself is mostly a noob mistake.

Other than that, I see no need and I just don't do it.

There are many though that will flush if they fart near the plants, or any other silly reason.

i say flush, if your using soil. flushing improves the overall taste & burn quality of the finished buds. I hate smoking weed that taste like nutrient & burns like a piece of charcoal. ewww

i agree with this 100%... i don't understand flushing, nor do i do it, and my buds don't taste lilke chems, far from it.. i think that a proper cure is wayyy more important then a flush.. and why people would starve their plants for the last two weeks or so of life is well beyond me..

if my leaves are yellowing hard at the end than i know shes eating them up....i dont flush..but i just water with "water" for the last 2 waterings..i never have any taste or burning issues.

I use to flush for a week only. This go around I'm just gonna cut back a on nutes for a week then drown them for about 3 days ( kicks start the curing)

why fix something that isnt broken? if the plant has no problems then it shouldnt need a flush, except before harvest.

so if ur gonna flush do it for last 3 days?

Unfortunately listening to 75% of the people on this forum will result in dead plants

my shit was healthy as a mother fucker, flushed it for 2 weeks like so many people say, they starved.

why would you flush for 2 weeks anyway, thats just stupid, it only takes 1 or 2 waterings to flush. flushing is just running clean water though until all the nutrients are out, so once you flush it once, there is nothing left to flush, so flushing for 2 weeks is pointless unless its right before harvest.

i agree

look at it like this............if you had to only survive on water for 2 weeks, would you be able to perform normally? or say run laps? hell nah, cuz you didnt get any protien and vitamins to grow and repair....weed is no diff IMO and should be fed till harvest even if it is small doses. Ive had the same prob you had with starving when i started growing..ever since then i feed em till the chop except like i said the last watering or two.

i partially agree, but it is a little different because the plant makes its own food from the suns energy, so even if it only gets pure water, it still has food that it produces on its own which we can call protein. Fertilizer would be the vitamins and minerals needed for the plant to use the food efficiently and properly. I know this isnt scientific, im just tryin to simplify it to get a point through.

some places have alot of chlorine in the water which when applied to soil creats salt and alot of it so if u dont have the drops to get all the chlorine out of the water, chances are u are gonna have salt built up and need to flush it all out on a regular biweekly period

depending on how long you vegged flushing to get rid of any salts is a good idea now some of these noobs probably by the cheapest nutes possible and expect miracles :)) but in reality reading instructions and goin by what it says ( Good starting point ) now some experienced growers will have a Ec meter and get indepth on there feedin chart giving there plants maximum nutes
so in veg exceeding 1200 ppm and Flower 1500 +
All nutreints are salt based from what i under stand thus in a long veg period then goin into flower causeing major problems yellowing burning just read all the plant problem threads an do the math i am in 2 weeks flowering leafs are yellow , brown tips, curling, etc
You may run less N in your nutes but quadripple P and K bloom 0 - 53 - 33 a A-B like 1 - 4 - 8 etc
so is it good practice to flush prior to goin into flower its all up to you but i would rather then be chasing your plant to health and stressin the plant when you need it as healthy as possible for yield purpose

Now flushing harvest is also a good idea many growers use chemical nutes this getting rid of any chemicals in your medium this giving your dank weed you so worked hard for a better taste its all up to your selfs peeps if u flush or not good luck :)

ok so if youre in soil, the soil is going to have and hold residual nutrients even after one or two water feeding, right?

it will always hold it perlite holds nutrients an releases it soon as water hits it perlite is a sponge and there fore once you feed your plants the sponge type perlite will absorb the nutes then it drys up but once water touches perlite it will release the nutrients it had and so on

i don't understand your logic here.. on one hand, you say water has a lot of chlorine in it, which it does, but you say to get rid of the chlorine, you should use more water that holds more chlorine.. just seems kinda counter productive to me..
