Greenpassion, thanks for stopping by. I'll have a dry weight stat on these girls in about fifteen days or so. First time around with this setup.:blsmoke:

I'd say regardless of what you choose, the six 600w or the four 1000w setup, vent those lights so you can sit the hoods right on top (8") of the plants for the entire grow. I chose the six 600w setup because in theory the light coverage is better, the wattage is lowered by a bit, and you get less heat off of the lights. That said, fully hood, glass, and vent everything. That's the most important improvement I'll be making to this setup over the next three weeks. :bigjoint:

8 " ? thats really close !! i think that with the 1000s that would be really hard if not impossible without burning the plants don't you think ?? and have you heard of B.C Big bud ?? i think thats what im going to try

once you get those lights down closer to the girls they are going to go nutz frog!! getting those sealed is going to really kick the heat right in the but:)

8-10 is good for 600's...

with 1000's 10-12 is great. deffinitely could get away with 8 inches with some 600's in cooltubes w/o burning the plants at all.

im too scared to bleach out the plants going 8"

i keep the 1k cooltube about 10-12" no more than 2' max though

LB, I'd never plop a 1000w so close to the plants! :blsmoke:

12" is as close as that gets for me. I think with a 400cfm fan pushing the six 600w cooltubes should be able to to grab an extra 4" vert. space. One concern is compromising my light spread when so close and having to clump plants in a narrow alley instead of more spaced out. Not sure if this will effect anything when the number of plants will be 1/3 higher anyway and they won't be getting topped at all...

8-10 is good for 600's
.
I'll see if it threatens to burn the girls being so close down on them. The first two weeks in veg will be under the conversion blue spectrum hort. bulbs, so I won't be able to tell what's what until mid-May prolly. :eyesmoke:

I'm right there though on the distances according to wattage/lumen output, DG.

I'm hoping so, Wink. Dropping the lights down a couple weeks ago was the best thing I've done in late flower for these girls.

?? and have you heard of B.C Big bud ?? i think thats what im going to try
Greenpassion, smoked the BCBB before but never grown it. Looks like a producer though on the vine from pics I've seen. My advice to you is not to space the plants out too much in the trays, but focus them under the lights more. So if you're thinking about putting your plants evenly throughout the tray, you mgiht reconsider a more narrow plant footprint.

x=plants
O=light
Up/down= length of tray

So this lengthwise layout:
4'
<--------->

x x x x

x x x x
O
x x x x

x x x x

...becomes something more like this:

3ft
<-------->
x x x x

x x x x
O
x x x x

x x x x

In my opinion, 1000w HPS can cover a 4'x4' space adequately throughout a flower cycle, and a 600w HPs can cover 3/4 of that, or roughly 3'x3' space. :peace:

Hey 'Math, how exactly does one get the high-res pics uploaded? :bigjoint: I have a lot of super-macro large file pics, but they won't upload properly at all...

Damn OF that look down right fantastic. They are some of the best buds i have seen on RIU. Simply gorgeous. if i can rep you again I will. Well done mate.

As for high-res pics I take mine into Photoshop first and change the resolution to 150DPI. I also change the size to about 17cm square.
I then upload the pics using the 'post your pics' function on the main forum page.
I don't upload them to my album because it will automatically resize them.
The post your pics function allows you to upload photos with no limitations on resolution or size.
Once uploaded copy and past the code for that pics in your post but delete the word 'medium' out of the code and it will appear full size. This is why I make them 150 dpi and around 17cm, because if you dont, they will appear fucking huge and the page in your thread will take a day to fully load.
Also, make sure you paste the code to your notepad on your home page so you can find it again.
Here's a link to the thread where I learned how to do it - https://www.rollitup.org/general-marijuana-growing/103068-post-big-pictures-how.html

Damn that JF looks fucking outstanding :clap::weed:

you seem to have a very nice camera... your pictures are beautiful -- i wish mine looked half that nice.

your plants are also very obviously happy and healthy. I drool at the weight you may produce :D

DaG, it's a four year old 5 megapix cam. I just figured out how to adjust the white balance and play with the super-macro this week finally. :bigjoint:

Lions, you're too kind bro. If this kicks down proper, I'm a happy man. If it's all water weight, I'm tweaking the system until the weight falls... :D

LB, sooner than later I'll be whacking...

The old dry room could do two elbows comfortably. This means I need roughly 2/3 more space to properly dry sixish lbs. at a time.

The new room's dimensions are therefore 64"x108" with a 76" ceiling. I'll be using an A-frame design for the dry rack this time around to utilise space more efficiently. Here's an in progress shot of the space:

And here's a sketch of the frame I'll build in there this evening:

Here we are. High-res pics of some beautiful girls. Any day now...:weed:

The JF is finishing wonderfully, packing on weight with 027ppm(ph balance only) in its final week of life.

Just the slightest hint of nute burn on those tips...almost perfect.

A lot of the "lower" buds have filled out and look like kickers.:hump:

For context...

So, about that dry room I alluded to earlier. Finished it this evening, just in time to take three monster SilverHazeXCough#1 (bred exclusively by amphibians) plants and hang them loosely on the back rack. :shock: This is about when I realized the rack is considerably smaller than the humongous load it needs to carry in 3 days. More twine lines will be needed perpindicular to the existing ones as well as from the corners of the room.

What one of those SHxC colas hanging looks like up close.

And this is the room of chaos those three plants just came from, after another three have been flipped over (in the foreground). This room is like an overgrown amazonian jungle that I bravely water every other night, say a silent prayer to St. HolyFuck, and then return to the solace of the SoG room.

Neglect is rampant and readily evident, but you might as well know the dark side as well as the light. . .

This is another ShC coming down in three weeks:

That's it for now. :bigjoint:

Mmmmm.... Macro. I need to see if i can do that :D

don't worry about the slight neglect, Mary Jane is like a good bitch, you give her a little water and food and the smallest bit of attention now and then... and she will love you until the day she dies :lol: bongsmilie

what light are you burning in the "Room Of Chaos" ?
