Jollygreengiant's Quest for Dank

I recently cracked a few seeds and have them growing in party cups under a 48" 2 bulb T8
They are in MircleGro Seed Starter soil
Also I'm trying to crack 20 seeds in a cup of water
I will grow as many as I can until they are a few inches tall and force flower to get rid of the males and scrawny females, keeping maybe 4 or 6 pretty ladies.
I will be attempting to clone which I've never tried before so wish me luck:-P

Soil will be a mix of MG Organic Choice or some local organic soil mixed with perlite, vermiculite, worm castings if I can find them, and a little bat guano.
Nutrients will be all organic. For veg I will use fish emulsion(5-1-1) and bat guano(9-3-2)

For flowering, I will be using a 600w HPS with 10-3g growbags occupied by clones.
Nutrients will be bat guano(0-7-0) and molasses and will get Flower Power(1-8-7)

This is the room that I will be using for flowering when the time comes, the mothers will then be relocated to a closet.
Room is roughly 3.5' deep x 7' wide x 8' high

About 6 or 8 seeds have already begun to crack and expose the taproot
I will be putting them into moist jiffy pellets later tonight
I put the seeds jar into my incubator to keep them warm and cozy

Out of the 20 seeds in the jar of water, 16 cracked open within 24 hours
Those 16 went into jiffy pellets and into a dome and are now resting on top of the fridge
These are about 2 weeks behind the other plants in the cups
I'm hoping that they sprout quickly so that they wont be too far behind the others

I checked on them this morning and 2 had broken soil:mrgreen:
Hoping that the others follow their lead
They went into party cups with mg seed starter soil

I need to get my soil mix ready so that I can transplant a few out of the party cups and into 3g buckets.

some more pics

this little guy was one of the first to pop up but hasnt managed to do much and looks a little sickly..might just put it out of its misery soon

one of the newborns..so cute:weed:

my 600w and growbags should be hitting the doorstep before the weekend.
I think I'm going to try and split the room for a small veg area for a mother or 2 and clones and use a 3.5x3.5 ft area to flower 9 plants.

I'm excited to grow more than 2 at a time, I have no idea what to expect yeild wise but if all goes well I think I'll be happy with the results.

you plan on doing a ns garden , i always germ in soil , using clone and seedling nutes for 98% germ rate.yea i was new at cloning this las round and got a 100% roots on them, the secret is keep those temps of the soil around 80F , once yuove cut with a sterile razor blade immediately put it into you cloning nute and dipped in rootech and watered witha cloning nute,i use olivias for seeds and clones, its great.put into dome , roots in 8 days , i use jiffy plugs because thier ina netted plug and holds moisture well, i'm sure you already knew this jus thought i'd pass it along, later,JGG

JGG...As I read your first post I notice many things that stimulate my interest in your grow except for the miracle grow. Why would you get all those other items to be successful and not get a medium more suited for mj ?

i grew some blue moonshine many times before and got great yields, till once i had gotten some andthe bags had gotten hot and diluted all the nitrogen in the bag, unknowingly i put my Blueberry plants in it , 2weex later they went mutant on me,lol, then i figured it out .other wise its a good ph balance 6 soil.as good as any. i use ocean forest and 25% perilite ,its cost but pays in dividens, lol.laterJGG,

I got some Olivia's on the way too. That sounds like what I plan on doing when the time comes.

I've used miracle grow for both of my previous grows..it works, I know its not ideal but I have limited resources and funds so I work with whats around.
I still have to get soil, more perlite, and worm castings for when I transplant.
I have to get the cash first, but I'm hoping I'll find some better options at this other place. But if not, Im not afraid to resort to the miracle grow...I'm open to all suggestions

I hope you guys stick around for the long haul:-P

Lights up
The hi-low hangers that came with it seem a little flimsy for my taste so I got a chain..just as easy to adjust the height

I got some pics
1st shows the room (as much as I can get in one pic)
2nd is the flowering area, i stuffed some socks into the vent down there..this is probably where I will be pulling air from to cool the light and exhaust it into the other room but thats going to cut into my space a bit but its a hole so I might as well use it
3rd is the veg area
4th is my partner in crime, dont be fooled..shes a gangster:fire:

I'll get dirt next weekend and try to block off the two areas.:hump:
Let me know what you think

I think that the only real problem with MG is that alot of its soils have time release nutes in them, and alot of people don't like that. You just have to be careful not to burn the plants, and if you try to flush them, it can actually increase the problem. But your using the organic MG soil right JG? I don't know if it has time release, but I'm sure its better then the chemical stuff. You also use a fairly light nute schedule it seems JG, at least last grow. So even if the soil has more nutes in it, I'm sure thats part of why you had no problems with it. I can't even tell you the kind of soil I got. It was outside an ace hardware, says "all organic" all over it, and was on sale for $1.95 for a regular size bag (30-40lb I think). I'm sure it will work fine, I'm gonna add about 25% perlite to it, some water crystals, maybe some verm, and I was thinking about some bone meal, and lime. I think it will give me a pretty well rounded base.

All in all it sounds like your off to a great start JG, glad to see ya growin again.

I think the plants are in shock from the cold weather..they seem to have stopped growing.
Also the rest of the seeds in jiffy plugs are refusing to grow and break ground
I've placed a small heater in the room to bring the temp up, but it kills any humidity in the room..I'm not sure how big of a problem that is

I need some help figuring out how to properly cool the light.
Its got 2 4inch holes in the hood to suck fresh air in and exhaust the hotness.
You guys think this little 4inch 80cfm fan will cool it any?http://www.htgsupply.com/viewproduct.asp?productID=46434
Or should I get something like the 6inch 250cfm and one of these http://www.htgsupply.com/viewproduct.asp?productID=53753

Once I get some dirt and figure out the ventilation, I plant on transplanting into the growbags and firing up the 600 to help speed them up
I want to hear some advise and suggestions

Well things are lookin real good man! Thats sweet you got your 600, I think I made that last post without reading the second page, lol. Are you worried about smell? You have a couple options on venting the hood, does it have glass for it? I would prolly put the carbon filter at the end of the ducting on one side, and and try to exhaust the other side else where to prevent the heat from just recirculating back to the garden. I don't really think an 80 cfm will move very much air. I was looking at the 400cfm range, but I'm also working with a 1000.

yeah its got the glass, I was hoping that 80cfm would be able to pull the heat from the light and blow it out through the closet doors.
I'm not really trying to ventilate the room at this point, just the light.
Smell, ehh..I should be ok for now but I wouldnt mind having a carbon filter...might have to make one if funds aren't sufficient.

Once I buy dirt and vent the light..I don't plan on throwing anymore money into this grow, I gotta make it to bonnaroo this summer:hump:

You could make a carbon filter if you need it, and add it in the future. You can cover the extra hole on the hood, and just vent it out of the closet man. I still might think like 125-150cfm to be honest, but I don't have ALOT of experience with venting.
