Just another DIY COB build

That sucks! In the past when ever one of my new strains hermied, they'd all get the chop. All of them. Mother and babies. Way too many good genetics out there to waste months of my precious time for junk. It does sound like you have quite a selection.
Flowering hermies go in the hash pile.
good thing i have a pollen tumbler in the mail that will be here wednesday :) im gonna play around and build a rosin press as soon as its in. ive got a couple pounds of prime trim to run.

i am wait listed on a pack of oceangrown seeds at the moment. impatiently waiting for my email saying when they drop and i know i will have to snag them asap. hoping to get a pack of ninja fruit. it will be nice to have some purple in the garden again but my main goal is to breed with it in the near future. ive never done any breeding before and just wanna play around in a small tent to see what i can make.

im running 400 more watts and covering 50% more area and my temps are exactly the same as when i had a 1k and 600 aircooled in there. im gonna boost the rooms air exhaust which will in turn pull more air in through the window and cool the garden even more. temps are good right now but it could always be better. i had to flush everything with half strength nutes because i was getting burn on them and i dont really feed all that heavy, it has just been building up since they dont get a lot of runoff.

i went a little too long in between waterings and they got top heavy and toppled lol. it was a logistics nightmare trying to get in there and prop them up and hang trellis netting! dont be like me and wait to add support. do it early and save yourself the headache. im gonna build wood frames with netting that i can raise and lower from the ceiling on future grows. im already waiting for this run to get done so i can get the new genetics popping and see what ive got. im very worried that the hermies will pollinate the new genetics but i couldnt let them get any bigger or i would have been screwed so i had to put them in there. i took cuts but they are looking pretty crappy so im gonna go and take more just in case.

picked up this sweet kief tumbler for $300. i have only sent two small test runs through it and i already have a nice fat pile. i was gonna wait to see how my trim was yielding before i invested into the lowtemp plates and press but damn this thing is yielding well so i think im gonna order my setup in the next week when im all processed. it still has nug left in it so i will remove the nug and blast them when im done tumbling everything. god i have no free time lol.

first off i would like to say that the COBs are definitely running warmer in the room now, but ive got more wattage in the room as well. i need to pick up some extra ductwork to install an extra vent fan in the room and then i think all will be back to normal. i was getting pretty bad burns on my plants because im not able to have much runoff when i water and they were getting salt buildup. i flushed once and now im just watering as much as i can without over filling the saucers. im just gonna start flushing once a week with 1/2 strength nutes. other than that everything looks good. they are all filling in quite nice and the frost is starting to build up. havent seen too many more bananas on the exotic gear. i clipped off what i could. im worried that they might pollinate the new round but i couldnt wait any longer. its all good. my mycotek dog cage plants are looking good and ready to have cuts taken and flowered.

first shot is the blackfire and future moms. second is the SOG run from those and the third pic is mostly new shit getting their first run(harambe, quattro kush and citral flo).

i have a thread in the grow logs that no one sees so im gonna update over here as well. table is looking great. SOGlings and mothers got the chop at 63 days. i just rebuilt my veg array and spread out the diodes and its way better. should get some final numbers in the next week or two. the soglings were under 600w of citi 1212 and the moms were under 800w of cxm22.

hey DH, Finished up nicely & thx for sharing.
Was this a side by side test grow?
how many plants in each tray?

not a side by side test grow per se but but i didnt notice much benefit of running 800w of cxm22's over versus 600w of citi 1212's but then again its hard to compare big sloppy mother plants that were falling over left and right to the wonderful SOGlings that were simple and easy. i honestly think the SOG will out yield the moms but i could be way off. its always so hard to tell untils its done and side by side and all trimmed up.

there was about 60 SOGlings in a ~3.5-3.5 area. NO VEG TIME. straight into 12/12. most did really well. im still pheno hunting so i dont expect great numbers just yet. too many variables at the moment and im still poppin beans like its cool. got a few winners picked out and they will continue on in glorious fashion. i think out of all the beans i have popped i have 2 keepers for sure at the moment and a couple more that are in flower but too early to tell anything yet. ive got one that has phenomenal structure and growth that i have my eye on in particular. i hope it finishes strong!

OMG :o Did u say u hav 60 plants in 1m2 grow space under 800W Cobs:confused:

Do u think it will yield 2 pounds:leaf: dry bud:confused:

Are you watering them flood & Drain:confused:
It was under 600w. I'm not expecting great numbers as this was a seed run with untested clones. The one in the picture is dense as hell. Super happy with the lighting performance. Once I am running tested genetics I fully expect to break the gpw mark and then some. I will get numbers up in a week or two. Only been hanging for like 4 days now. Planning on a 2 week hang dry with the humidifier on 62% and then a nice dry trim by hand. Lots of rosin pressing, closed loop and shenanigans to come

almost done with the prototype. should be ready tomorrow night. just gotta get grommets and wire it up. still planning on where to mount the drivers so it wont offset the rig when i hang it. i could run them remotely but i like the idea of having everything in the air cooled chamber. this is gonna be a heavy sumbitch. i will have to anchor straight into the studs but there is only two points to hang from so it will be nice and easy.

these will be tuned anywhere from 600-700 watts. shooting for 666 ;) we will have to test it out on the kill-a-watt meter. that will put me around 75w per cxm22.

drilling the holes was a MAJOR pain in the ass!!! the hole saw in a hand drill wanted to walk all over the place so my holes are slightly off center. may see if the metal shop can do them up for me next time. took me about 5 min per hole with LOTS of WD40.

future builds will utilize much smaller heatsinks since they are gonna be air cooled so heavily. should save about 5 pounds hopefully. not much but helpful when hanging lol.

the plexiglass jig worked flawlessly. ALL of my holes lined up proper for once!!!! holy shit was i happy lol. still gotta trace on where the drivers will mount. easy shit and them im done :)

as these get finished i will slowly switch them in for the non air cooled rigs and then move those light engines over to the air cooled rigs. lots of work to do!

i trimmed and weighed one of my keeper phenos of the blackfire. it is the first pic below. it yielded 11.6 grams with no veg time. im not real worried on my gpw or anything because i am still on the pheno hunt. next round will be a bit more true to life in respects to proving what the lights can do. as soon as im done popping beans and select my keepers i will be able to move on full steam ahead!
i am happy with the quality of the finished product even considering the seeds from the hermaphrodites. looks and smells dank as hell

great use of that massive light hood.should def help your heat issue now that you can pull some serious air.you should dim that sucker to 665w just to be safe haha :fire:

i tried some last night but it still needs some dry/cure time for sure. it was still too moist when broken up. it still has a nice earthy taste almost reminiscent of trainwreck with a hint of sour. it will be superb in a few more weeks.
:leaf::leaf: DOPE :leaf::leaf:
Did u pick that strain because of high potency or faster flowering times:confused:
