mason jars are shit

mason jars are not air tight for the most part. i can't get most of mine to keep the vacuum seal, especially the small ones. i keep my jars in a drawer. it's dark in there. the brown glass mason jars are super expensive.
I just use my foodsaver with the mason jar attachment and 99% of them seal indefinitely. I keep the jar out of the light. The jar I am currently using does get some light WHILE I am using it, but by the time that would be a factor, the weed has already deteriorated into smoke.

the first time i came down from CO it was pretty nerve wracking. i had put everything into baggies and then into mason jars. i could smell this TK Tankie the whole ride back...for like 13 hours passing up cops and billboards from weed lawyers. then i started just vac bagging my jars. that worked perfectly. i used to use a vac jar a long time ago and it worked too.

I've been wondering if all my weed curing in mason jars is actually as fresh as the popcorn buds i been putting into milo tins when i ran of glass mason jars.
then i realised that once i took the mason jar out of the cupboard for any length of time the buds were getting light from the windows by day and the lights at night.
so next time im curing a bunch of weed, i might save more milo tins and put the choice buds in there for a while.

dont get me wrong a mason jar full of weed is great, to look at, i just noticed more terps in the milo tins is all

could i be onto something ya think, about ditching glass jars for tins?
i invented something called a "cupboard" patent pending.
it makes the bad light go bye bye.
for $99.99 (u.s.), i'll send you a copy of the plans.

you are only as good as your tools! :)

or tape around them with duct tape
does it leak from the lower part or the upper part or both? so, where does the tape go exactly? the goo on that tape isn't too nice to deal with, so limiting its use might be in order.

What jars are you using that you can smell it? And sandwich bags are worthless if those are the bags you're talking about.

we're about as far from each other as possible. only been to KL, Brunei, Sarawak and Jakarta in that region. I'll have to stop by Thailand sometime, especially with the recent changes to weed laws.
i started going there in the 70s. the u.s. made thailand punish weed users, and i'm afraid that the great weed from the 60s/70s, that no nothings think can't compare to the best crosses today, is gone. i'm just vacationing now. if i could find those great thai sticks from the north and laos again, i'd move north of chiang mai and smile. then again, the smoke season, when everybody is burning rice fields, is a heath disaster for the locals.

That's incorrect.

A mason jar with a proper gasket and lid is 100% airtight.

If that was not the case, the entire canning process for which they were designed would not work.
Exactly. We can jams, salsa, etc. You have change out the lids but Mason/Kerrs are 100% airtight.

In fact, after canning, you can hear them seal while resting on the counter when you hear the "pop" sound.
