no. its not required by any means according to the state or doh. only some docs require that you have previous records to show them. if the doc is a doc, he can sign for you.

Yea my doctor needed my last three recorded medical visits to give me my prescription. Gotta have something or else they aren't going to be covered when the state asks questions. There are lots of people in this state that need a good caregiver. Goto compassion clubs and offer to help and maybe someone will choose you. But don't try to cheat the system.

please stop giving false info on these boards. if your not certain about what your saying then dont post it. esp regarding the mmm, its so new that people keep spouting out false info and it gets confusing. if you would just read the law (http://www.legislature.mi.gov/(S(biv4ha55eyo01k55uzl5rz45))/mileg.aspx?page=getObject&objectName=mcl-Initiated-Law-1-of-2008http://www.legislature.mi.gov/(S(biv4ha55eyo01k55uzl5rz45))/mileg.aspx?page=getObject&objectName=mcl-Initiated-Law-1-of-2008) you would know that a doctor is protected and may not be questioned, he is not required to ask for your records, he is simply stating his opinion that mj will benefit the patient.

(f) A physician shall not be subject to arrest, prosecution, or penalty in any manner, or denied any right or privilege, including but not limited to civil penalty or disciplinary action by the Michigan board of medicine, the Michigan board of osteopathic medicine and surgery, or any other business or occupational or professional licensing board or bureau, solely for providing written certifications, in the course of a bona fide physician-patient relationship and after the physician has completed a full assessment of the qualifying patient's medical history, or for otherwise stating that, in the physician's professional opinion, a patient is likely to receive therapeutic or palliative benefit from the medical use of marihuana to treat or alleviate the patient's serious or debilitating medical condition or symptoms associated with the serious or debilitating medical condition, provided that nothing shall prevent a professional licensing board from sanctioning a physician for failing to properly evaluate a patient's medical condition or otherwise violating the standard of care for evaluating medical conditions.

Nuff said, sorry dude I'm not trying to spread any false info. I just want to be clear that I am a law abiding citizen and I hope that the people asking questions are going about it the right way. Don't want anyone getting in trouble. Thanks for the post rzza.

like i said i went to my doctor and on the first visit he signed the "RECOMMENDATION" , he also told me he couldn't believe i was walking around and to change my line of work
the law requires a patient doctor relationship which occurs as soon as you start reporting symptoms and he starts theorizing illnesses
the law is really not hard to understand and is pretty short and straight forward- i would recommend reading it at your earliest convenience

May I ask how exactly you stay in the limits? I think I am a bit confused on this part you see my father has recently got mmj card as a patient and I am his caretaker, we are confused on how to keep the legal limit of 2.5 dried ounces if we have our 12 plants it seems we will often have more than 2.5 ounces of dried bud - is this extra bud supposed to be destroyed of? LoL - seems not to make much sense - it really seems to us you are almost required to break some of the laws in order to stay within the new mmj laws - it is all kind of silly.

I like to take the extra and sell it to other patients... just make sure they are cardholders. You can also make butter or hash and concentrate it down to a smaller weight? Plus I don't think they weigh cookies, brownies, ect... lol

Nice good tips man I really appreciate that but I mean to be technical about it - your technically in possesion of more then 2.5 ounces at some given time if you have 12 plants so that is my point mainly..that it seems almost imposible to be within the law 100% of the time no matter what you do really

Well it does state usable product. What if you stagger harvest and smoke enough to stay under 2.5 oz :D

yes stagger harvest ftw

its called perpetual harvest, search for it and get an idea how to do it.

and yes i think they will weigh your edibles but they have to know it in there.

(j) "Usable marihuana" means the dried leaves and flowers of the marihuana plant, and any mixture or preparation thereof, but does not include the seeds, stalks, and roots of the plant.

they said that at the medgrow college. that it is not usable mmj because it is still drying and curing. i guess it is probably a judgement call but they said this is a loophole.
