I built a cheap fog cloner, I'll fill in the blanks and add a how to later in the day...

I'll let you know, I just finished it last night. I'm trying to figure out the cycle timing for the machine.

stays relevant.
Looks like he connected the "cool mist humidifier" to the little container... they sell those humidifiers at Walgreens for like 30 bucks, but you'll probably want to pick out a warm humidifier... cool mist just hasn't done it for me so far...

Same reason why I keep a heating mat under my clone tray I guess.

those things are cool but are definitely a pain in the butt in some ways, like the fact that you have to refill the dang tank every 20 hours or so.

I thought about the warm mist. They were cheaper. I may return this one and get another.

Yeah... I would've but the cool mist helps my lady breath a little better when she gets sick... so I kept mine for that reason...

Any tips as far as cycle times? I have also noticed that rooting gel doesn't work so hot.

I'll take pictures of it later, the clones wilted a bit because I have been playing with their cycles. I think the night of the cutting I will not use root gel and leave the fogger on for 24 hours (with a short break for a res refil of H2O).

After that I need to work out a time cycle for on and off while under light. I'm trying to find a good timer that is not going to cost a fortune. I have a timer with a 1 minute resolution but it only has 14 cycles per day. :(

Anyone with experience in this operation got any clues? I'm thinking about putting some clones with existing roots into the machine to see how they react too. As well as a seedling, why not?

I now have seedlings and rooted clones in the tub. They are in rockwool.

The timer is set at 1 hour on, 1 hour off. 24/hrs around the clock. I had thought about fogging all night and running 20 minutes an hour during the day. I wish I had multiple foggers and I would test all kinds of things at once.

I'm hoping that since they have exposed roots they should enjoy the cool mist.

On another note, I shortened the tube from the humidifier as the fog condenses as it travels.

One problem I had to fix was the air/fog ratio caused by the built in fan. I put tape over the fan blocking the flow partially. This slows the fog down quite a bit making it nice and dense when it reaches the box.

Oh yeah, no voided warranty...

I know about those, as well as the mainlandmart ones.Your kinda going backwards here as I like my system more then those pucks.I can keep mine running 20 hours straight, you can't do that with the pucks.

On to the topic at hand...

Time scedules and comparison of rockwool vs pure aeroponic. I may start the cuttings in my clone tub and move them to this system when they are showing roots.

What time schedule would work best with rockwool and no rockwool, also where do I find a repeat cycle timer that will allow 2-3 minutes on 20 off? Mine has minute resolution but only 14 cycles per day.

Anyone with a Daisy Cloner 8 out there got any advice? This is basically the same setup, but bigger and home made.

Why not? Saint Cannabis over at ICMag says he only has to add a few ounces every month. http://icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?p=2051661#post2051661

The daisy cloners use a pump. I must be misunderstanding you, but why use rockwool in an aerocloner? Isn't that the point; all you need to clone in rockwool is rockwool. What are you thinking about this?

Accelerated growth is what I am seeking. I feel that if I am not misting enough then the rockwool could be a buffer. I'm just testing this out.

I have heard recommendations to not run the pucks for more than 8 hours straight or they could fry.

I had went to my local spencer's gifts to pick up a puck to play with but they were all sold out. Check there around Halloween.

I'm still not interested in the puck, it is at the heart of this system and the successful $$ systems use an external fogger, not in the res solution.

Timers??? Anyone?

I'm a bit confused at what's going on..

Is the fogoponic system just delivering water or nutes too? And is it just for sproutlings?

The system I'm using is just for water, you can buy a specialized fogger for nutes but that is opening a whole can of worms I'm not prepared to deal with yet. From pH swings to nute problems. I'm just trying to automate my cloning a bit more and speed it up once they show roots. Clones and seedlings require no nutes for a few weeks so I figured this would be perfect.

I know a lot of people have success with 15 on/15 off (minutes )

What kind of cycles did you wanna try out especially?
I'll pick up a cheap 15 minute resolution timer and see how that works out with 15 on 15 off.

I'm only interested in producing quick healthy root systems that can be transferred to my 3" net cups easily.

If it turns out to be too troublesome to get the system to work, I'll just convert it into bubbleponics.

No loss, I just heard rumors of tap roots in 3 or 4 days and I want to see it for myself.
