YOu have to forgive me right now. I am heavily medicated. OK so your asking me if the 400w HPS system from HTG supply is any good? My answer to that question has to be a yes. My 600w system is from HTG supply. THey have really good grow equipment and really good prices.

Ok your next question is whats a good prepaid card to use? My answer to that is you can go to wallgreens and get the prepaid visa card , its only about a 3 dollar charge to activate it then after its activated you can use it. Almost immediately.

Have fun growing dude. Thats what it really all boils down to. If you have a passion for this kinda thing you will constantly strive to be better at it. My first grow was a failure horribly. My laides all died except 1. She was a sickly excuse for a plant and even through all that stress i caused her she still managed to produce 1/2 a gram of smoke. Just keep up the faith. Don't get depressed cause you didn't get amazing results. Just look at the problems you had and learn from your mistakes. Perfect your technique down to an art where it becomes second nature like mucsle reflex. That's what i call zen gardening. But im sorry I tend to ramble when im medicated. So im going to stop there.

Peace and postiive energy to you.

Well snaps! Just went to wall greens got me a pre paid card drove home! & Just got off the phone with HTG Suppy and put my order in for my 400 wat HPS!!!!! Total $152.94 I just shit about a brick! =] but for some reason its a good shit! They said about 4 days shipping here to So-Cal. Time to grow work of arts! I've got some dank clones and I'm sure they can't wait to get put under this light! Zen gardening is what i call "a great piece of mind".

I had to read what I wrote again cause I coouldnt remember. But amen to that. You sir, will be most pleased with HTG they sell excellent products and have really good customer service. The new clones you got sure will thank you later once they are under that new HPS light. Congrats and lookin forward to viewing some beautiful ladies in the future.

Peace and positive energy to you.

With the hps how long you thinking I should veg?
2 weeks or 3 at most. You want ur plants to get nice and bushy before you put them into flower. With more branches and internodes the more bud sites you will have and that results in higher yields. Just make sure you take off the leaves and branches from the lower parts of the plants. This is known as lolipoping. Just dont go overboard with lolipopping. I have seen some people that do it way too much and then the plants stress out and sometimes die.

Peace and positive energy to you.

Awesome, For lollipoping are you using a razor? 3 more days and i get my HPS! woot! Once this hps comes in, I've been thinking of dropping the rubber maids after first harvest and building my self a nice grow space.

you can use a razor blade thats been cleaned or a pair of shears thats been cleaned. Both of them work well. I use a pair of shears. Nice dude, having a bad ass grow space is half of the whole grow process. The other half is maintaince. You should document the new grow area. I would be intrested in what you come up with!

Got myself some shears!, I write down everything i do in the grow area, room maintenance documentation, to even the time i rotate the plants. I'll be drawing a composite sketch of my new build im be doing later on this month. I'll post pics later, Right now I got to go maintain my babies and see how they are doing. I'll post new pics of them today also!

My minds set on Higher things ;), But for a starter I should be good to go. I've got plenty learning to do so I'm well on my way. I'm about to take some pictures now and post them so stay tuned!
Orange Bud? Sativa or Indica? Or a cross? I've got some bag seed Blue cheese going too from the 26 of May and they still haven't sprouted! But one... but it's barley popping up... hmmm we will see... I germinated them tell they had a long enough tail...? any reasons....?

One Love man, and thanks again.

Orange bud is a hybrid. 50% Sativa, 50% Indica. It has a very pronounced citrus aroma and flavor. Very strong, fairly clear high. I smoked it once before. It was one of those strains that after you take that first hit you say, i wanna see the plant this smoke came from, and then grow it for myself.

Your babies from the 26th are not above the soil yet? Do not worry they will show up soon. I put 4 seeds in on the 25th that had a taproot into the rockwool. 4 days later I had one sprout, 7 days later I had 2 sprouts. What you are experiencing with your seedlings is normal germination. I wouldn't sweat it. If in 2 weeks you dont have sprouts above soil then i would start to worry what went wrong.

Peace and positive energy to you.

Sounds delightful =] and yummy!, Well it really doesn't matter if they do or not it was all bag seed anyways from a bulk qp i got for cheap. I got just over 70 seeds of blue cheese out door. I'm going to germinate some more tonight. Also! I just got 2 new 10 gallon rubber maids and 2 new 30 gallon rubber maids so i can atleast have a little SOG going. =] the 10 Gallon will serve for my clones and seedlings while my 30 gallon will serve as my mother kingdom =] sound good? I was thinking once I get my 400 hps in a few days, veg the og and black domina for a month more cut clones then make those clone into mothers while i flower my veged out beast!

Wow I am impressed, you really did your homework. Sounds like you got the right idea. Good luck. Pics!
In other news I found out that one of my White Widow seeds that I germed on the 25th is dead :( . She had a tap root but when i was transplanting her from the paper towel to the rockwool her taproot severed. I guess I didn't notice at the time and she ended up rotting and had mold all over her. I was sad sad sad. This time to replace the dead seed I put another White Widow but straight into the rockwool. I am seeing if this is a better method for germination compared to the paper towel method. I just have very clumsy hands i guess. My res had a leak in it so I had to run to the store and pick up a replacement. I went ahead and picked up some more CFLs and repositioned the lights so they are more efficient. The other seedling that hasn't broken the surface looks like as if its going to die.

I am thankful for the Blackberry sprout and the White Widow sprout. 50 % survival and those are doing really great. The orange bud seeds got placed into rockwool today so we shall see what happens in the next week.

I'm Impressed with myself! Been doing lots of homework!, Sorry for the late delay on updates peeps, Been making that money! So.. I just checked my email my 400 hps is almost here! Siked! The Clones are doing well under my current CFL Set-Up. Pics soon I promise!, I'm using all 2700K's, for both my Black domina & Og Kush. Does it really matter what bulbs I use to veg? I mean these 2700k seem to be doing the job just fine =]. Also! Nailz I wanna build a hydro system. how can i get started?

Ok concerning your CFL question:

CFL (Compact Fluorescent Lamps)

Grow clones, seedlings, and vegging plants with CFLs. Keep CFLs close to flowering plants so they develop big, tight buds.

Wattages available: 26 - 200 - inch lengths from 6 - 20 inches.

Brilliance: CFLs produce very bright light with relatively low wattage. The best values are the 55 - 65 watt bulbs. These bulbs are bright and inexpensive. Smaller wattages are less bright and very low wattage. Larger wattages are bright but more expensive.

Spectrum - The color spectrum is delivered at 2700K (warm white) to 5000K (cool white) in a selection of bulbs. Warm white CFLs (2700K) have more red in the spectrum and can be used alone but are best used in conjunction with cool white lamps to avoid internodal stretching during flowering.

I am excited that you asked me for advice on building a Hydro system. This type of growing is all I grow in so I feel like i know some good information about growing in this medium.

Ok to start off there are different type of hydro set ups. But the most popular methods are Flood and Drain (Ebb and flow), DWC (Deep Water Culture), Top feed hydro, NFT (Nutrient film technique), and finally Aeroponics. By far the easiest of all these hydroponic methods is the DWC method.

In DWC, seedlings and clones are held in net pots full of expanded clay (hydroton) pellets, rockwool, or other growing medium. These pots are nestled in holes in a lid that covers the reservoir. Roots dangle into the nutrient solution and a air stone connected to a air pump oxgenates the reservoir. Roots easily absorb nutrients and water from the solution in the oxygenated enviroment. This method is low maintenance and simple by design, they require no timer (except for lights) because the pumps are on 24/7.

This is the method I recommend because it is the method im currently using and the one I've had the most success with. I tried a hybrid method of top fed and dwc but noticed no difference in growth of the plants. So instead of complicating the grow with tubing and a submersible water pump i decided to take the top feed method out of the grow.

Ok DWC is really really simple and a joy to set up. You will need only a power drill to make the holes for the plants in the reservoir's lid. Here is a list of the materials i used to get the DWC up and running:

1 Rubbermaid tub (roughneck line of tubs are the best ive found) The 10 gallon size works best. Make sure the color of the tub is opaque. The solid blue ones work great.
4-6 net pots 3inch pots work well but also smaller net pots work great too depending on how many plants you plan on growing. Just make sure the hole you are making in the lid is compareable to the size of the net pots you have.
4-6 rockwool cubes again dependent on how many plants you plan to grow.
1 aquarium pump, you can get a cheap aquarium pump from Wal-mart or any pet store.
1 roll of aquarium grade tubing. This can be the clear type or opaque. Opaque is better cause then light cant penetrate it so alge build up in the tubing won't be an issue.
1 or 2 air stones. These can be the cheap air stones or the more expensive bubble curtains, I like the bubble curtains due to the fact the bubbles spread out more. Just make sure they will fit in the bottom of the tub.
Any amount of hydroton rocks that is needed to fill in the space around the rockwool cubes in the net pots.(These are critical cause it allows the plants to grab hold of and grow down to reservoir).

That's all the material needed. Total you are probably going to spend around 50 dollars. If you already have your lights and nutes for a hydro grow then you are set.

You can get a good set of hydro nutes for around 35 - 40 dollars. General Hydroponics 3 flora set works great.

Assembly is easy and takes only about 2 - 3 hours.

1. Take the net pots and trace an outline as to where you want to make the holes in the lid. This is key so you dont screw up your lid for the tub.

2. Make the holes with a power drill and test by putting the net pot in the hole you just made. If you did it correctly the net pot should sit snug in the hole.

3. Make another smaller hole off to the side on the lid for the air tubing.

4. Place the air stone in the tub and connect the air pump.

5. Fill with water and nutrient solution. Remember to follow directions of the nutes.

6. Turn pump on and add plants. YOu are done. Congrats!

Now that set up is complete you are going to want to change out the rez every week. This is key because water evaporates and plants drink the water. Dump and Replenish the rez every week and remember to add back pH balanced water 5.8 - 6.0 is best and add in the right amount of nutes. You will notice that the faster the plants grow the more they drink so its ok to add pH balance water to rez without having to drain and replenish. There you go its that easy. Air pump stays on 24/7 and lights are on a timer 18/6 for veg and 12/12 for flower. For draining purposes you have several different options. Some people like to add a drain valve at the bottom of rez. I however have found that annoying for two reasons. One tipping the rez to get the water out is not cool at least for me and the other reason the valve sometimes leaks. I opted for a top drain method where its basically like syphoning out gas. I have no experience in syphoning gas but someone that saw me do it said it was like that. The other thing you could do is find yourself a small hand pump or aquarium tank drainer. Drill pumps work great too and only cost 8 dollars at Lowes or Home Depot. You know the rest because its the same thing you do for a soil grow i.e. ventilation, lights, odor control.

If you have any questions let me know I can clarify on any points I just made

Peace and positive energy to you.

Questions:
1. Are you using lucas formula? And is Advance Nutirants worth the extra dollar?....
What formula are you using?

Questions:
1. Are you using lucas formula? And is Advance Nutrients worth the extra dollar?....
What formula are you using?
2. Whats the difference between a soil indoor grow and a DWC Grow? Quality & Quantity?
1. I did some research into the Lucas formula. Although it looked very good, I have my own specific dialed in regime of nutes that works really well for my set up. I have never used Advanced Nutrients, but some growers swear by their line of products.
2. Ahh the age old questions which is better soil vs hydro. :) I'll break it down like this and you can decide for yourself which you like better

Advantages of Hydroponic Gardens
1. Clean
2. High Yields
3. Maximize nutrient levels
4. Precise nutrient control
5. Faster Growth
6. No soil to change

Disadvantages of Hydroponic Gardens
1. Can be expensive (not if you do DWC)
2. Can be complicated (again not with DWC)
3. Can be difficult to set up and control (not DWC)
4. Needs pH and EC or PPM electronic meters. (not really but could mean the difference in a heavy harvest and not)

Advantages of Soil Gardens
1. Sweet organic taste (hydro gets this too but some people say Cannabis grown in soil tastes better than hydro) totally an opinion.
2. Forgiving to growers (I had the opposite happen to me when i started growing) soil was harder for me to grow with)
3. Simple and easy. (this is true)

Disadvantages of Soil Gardens
1. Must move soil in and out
2. Slower growth
3. Can be messy (hydro can be messy too)

These are just some of the points off the top of my head. I have a limited grow area and hydro just excels in small spaces. Soil for me is messy and I cant dump soil just anywhere. All I'm getting at is Hydro is a better growing medium for me currently. Hope this helped.

Peace and positive energy to you.

I looked into many variables for me to transfer over, Theirs alot of pros and cons. But knowing me, I've always wanted to learn Hydro. And DWC does seem to be mad easy!:hump: It will def be a next project of mine once this soil grow is done. I wanna at least complete a few grows before i dip my stick in anything else ya digg? I wanna learn the plants & be one with nature "hahaha", And sleeping in the same room with the suckers is a dream come true. The aroma the plants give off is a wonderful smell to fall asleep to :-P. I was also thinking of picking up some auto flowering seeds and doing an entire Rubbermaid op of auto flowers for one big harvest?... =]
