fucking great thread man! had a good giggle at some of the post's. But on the serious side. Im a new grower and started with 24 plant's in my grow room, you can view it on here as i have been keeping a diary. Anyway im concerned a little now as i have 8 armageddon, 8 white russian and 8 PPP. ( apparently very smelly ) Im running a 5" carbon filter, this passes up through the ceiling of the grow room to the attic, which in turn is connected to a 5" duct which follows up to the external waste pipe and connect's to it, which then exits the property roof and finally throughout the external pipe on the out side of the roof. My question is do you think that i will need a bigger filter and nutrolisers connected to this some where....? Im very keen on getting this right before they go in to flower next week...

Carbon air scrubbers "Help" but they do not cover up the smell 100%.

If you got BIG bucks you may be able to mask off the smell.. But you better have the cheese.

Just read a thread about a young kid getting busted with ak47..

I feel sorry for the dude, but he made the bad choice of growing out a smelly strain.

Maybe he didnt know better?

Thats why I posted this thread to kinda warn others.

I presume he did not read it, or he shrugged his shoulders and thought nothing of it..

Now he's gotta deal with the consequences.

I wish him all the luck in the world.

I hate hearing "bad news"

Sigh.. I cant imagine what he's going through..

A nightmare for sure.

Be safe people..Be safe!

Febreeze makes this tiny little carbon filter that...combined with a solid or gel air freshener...works well for a small grow. You can buy the febreeze thing at walmart - I buy the "fresh linen" version of that citrus magic air freshener and it works pretty well. I like the fresh linen scent better because it smells like someone just got done cleaning - where as the orange scent is like super strong orange oil -

Dude can i ask you what kind of crappy information your trying to give out here... your saying carbon filters dont work... actually carbon filters do work if your intake is passive and your exaust is active and the exaust exists thought the carbon filter..

Then the fan to cool the light is completly seperate from the rest of the atmosphere control and blows cool air through and out... without even the need for a carbon filter as the reflector is glass sealed.. a good Carbon filter with proper negitive pressure will eliminate any smell, regardless of what strain it is or how many you have.. this is terrible information im sorry

"The smell cannot be controlled. No matter what kind of Carbon Filter, or ozone generator you may have"
I bet you havent even used a carbon filter. They work very well. If you have a sealed room. If you have an intake that turns off when your outtake is out smelly odors will find there way out of the room. I run my filter with a fan 24/7 with a speed control. I have a passive air intake. I have a 20ilb co2 tank and i turn my out-take on and off for 6 hours. That of course is in the middle of the night. 12am to 6am. Since my room is sealed and i dont have an intake, the smell wont leak out and my outake with slowly push air threw the filter due to pressure.
I bought ona and put it in trays hiden arround my house and smeard on the inside of my outtake vent. You cant smell anything no matter what cycle.
I run Purple kush and that is a stinky strain. You cant smell it untill your in the room. Then its like whoa!
You should invest in a charcoal/carbon filter no matter what. Ona works for small shows

Dude,

I have been to MANY growrooms in my life.

I personally, have NEVER been to a total smell free grow environment.

You think its so easy to remove the pungent odor of White Widow, or Ak47 or whatever else?

Ever smelled a seriously pungent cannabis odor?

Maybe you haven't..

You need to listen to experience bro, this is not a freakin' football game.

And yes, maybe you can control the odors if you have the big bucks.

Wouldn't it be better to advise them to grow a low odor strain for starters?

I think so.

ALOT of the newbies do not have that kind of money for all that fancy equipment your talking about.

Please do not bash this thread.

Iam only trying to help.

This is not crappy information, This is information that may keep someone out of Prison.

Ever been there bro? Im sure you haven't.

I did my time...

I dont need to be treated like this.

Your post is rude and completely uncalled for.

Oh wait, I forgot, we're on the internet, and anyone can be, whatever they wanna be.

Ever heard of respect? :-|

Unbelievable.

p.s. The Eagles SUCK!! They haven't won the Super Bowl in 40 years!!! http://www.theeaglessuck.com/moblog/

And thats your team eh? .. figures. :finger:

Great info, got me thinkin about the best exhaust set up for my closet. I have some papaya and grandaddy making nice, as well as some Afghan Ryder. Luckily for me, the closet I chose has the hatch for the attic, so a little saw work here, a carbon filter there, and the brunt of it should be handled. For the rest I'm thinking ozone spray or something, also I heard about some substance you rub around the door frames of the grow room, a friend of mine uses it, worked well. We used to be able to smell the dank from the driveway- now it's hard to detect even when in the house(well, the unburnt stuff anyway). Any suggestions for a good odor nuetralizer, to supplement the exhaust fans?

Just looked up my snowcap i am attempting to grow and it say's "She puts out lots of stinky sticky resin early on in bloom and retains the smell and resin content well into the cure"....now i am worried. I thought the carbon filter i made would cut it for now maybe adding some ona gel later. I have never smelt a indoor flowering plant. and i have 5 others that may not be snowcap i am unsure.....am i fucked???? I am in a garage in a aparment complex......its actually a row of garages.....i may have to take it down to one plant....

I will agree with you on the sealed room.

Since Ive added co2 to my grow room(last week), and sealed off the area completely, The smell is hardly noticeable, but its still there.

I might add, Im running ozone and a big canfan vented through the attic.

Thanks for your input :)

Peace, CG :)

Ditch the intake and get a passive intake with a back draft blocker. so no co2 will leak out.
Make sure you run your filter 24/7 tho. I see alot of rooms with two of them in there. One for when the main outtake shuts off. And one for when the main one shuts off to control the smell in the room. Alot of people have two smaller ones. One that runs 24/7 with co2 stops and one on a thermistat/timer for co2.
Your gonna want to let the heat build up for 5 minutes then pump your co2. Temps are best at 27 for fastest co2 constumption.

Dont worry you did good. People should know better. Its there fault if they dont control odor. They should be thanking you for the reminded.
You can get a carbon filter for 200 bucks. Im sure you already have an inline?
This is why you start small and work your way up. Under 10 plants doesnt really stink and can be controlled by ona gel.. or even ferbreeze. You take one of those plants and invest in some odor control.
Now if your running two lights and dont have a filter. Your an idiot. Its your fault that you didnt invest in a filter.
