Peace to everyone in Oklahoma. May God be with you all.

Tax them more for living in a danger zone.
Taxing them equally makes the innocent pay for their stupid endeavors.
It's like paying my taxes to a fat, stupid immigrant who is over weight and has health issues, cant even speak English but gets free cash every month and continues to eat.
These areas are know for problems.
Why keep rebuilding them?
name a place and i'll tell you what natural disaster can befall them.

with a tornado of this magnitude, you could build your house out of jesus and it would still be gone. the house could be made of whatever you want but once the 200 mph winds rip off your doors and windows the pressure will literally rip the roof off, and that's BEFORE the actual tornado hits the building.
not true, the old mans house is made of shockcrete. It's concrete that gets sprayed on styrofoam forms. 4 inches concrete 10 inches of styrofoam 4inches of concrete. So twelve inch thick walls total. The second floor of his place has a concrete floor so downstairs is literally enclosed in concrete. God forbid we ever get hit directly the roof might go but the house will still be intact.

The earth moves under your feet - Get The Fuck Out!
The wind blows faster than 100MPH each year - Get The Fuck Out!
If you live below sea level - Get The Fuck Out!
Your house has ghosts - Get The Fuck Out!
Move to safe ground.
Not really a practical solution there nugs. Funny but not practical. The solution is better more stringent building codes. Or maybe they should move their house trailers in next to you?

Don't worry, Oklahoma members of congress who REPEATEDLY BLOCKED disaster aid to other parts of the country are already BEGGING the fed govt for money, fucking socialists.

snip...The solution is better more stringent building codes.
in a perfect world. the reality is that you're talking about an additional 50k in building costs for something that is extremely rare. most of the houses in oklahoma are built to withstand up to an f3 tornado, which is far more likely. there are also issues with the clay dirt that present problems for concrete basements(they cave in, sink, etc), not to mention the expense involved with digging it up. because of this issue there has been a push recently for people to build reinforced storm rooms rather than basements, but again, it's an expense issue and not realistic for most people to spend that kind of bread for something that is statistically unlikely to happen. there's a major difference between an f3 and f5.

it seems to me that they would be better off with more reinforced shelters available for community use to at least lessen the death, but i don't think it's realistic to increase the sale/building prices of homes 25-75% unless people are getting a MAJOR discount on home insurance for doing so.

something else to consider is that certain parts of tornado alley are also at a moderate-high risk for earthquakes. the two have almost polar opposite building requirements, so they generally build for what's most likely. i can tell you that building for a tornado will leave your house a pile of rubble if an earthquake hits, in which case we'd be having a similar discussion.

tl;dr: it's a shitty situation.

Yeah, cause that's real funny.
yes actually it was hilarious.

the tornado rocked and rolled for 40 minutes, never straying past the fence that separated the trailer park from the neighborhoods surrounding it, and damaging nothing but mobile homes

how could this be anything but funny?

Saw that on the news tonight, it was a grim scene with at least 50 dead. (so they tell us)

California law sucks much less to be imposed on the rest of the country.
It's like paying for shit that doesn't happen but all the tax payers have to give to others living in stupid places.
The earth moves under your feet - Get The Fuck Out! Californians pay the taxes and the insurance costs for earthquakes, Our Building Codes are geared to the problems we have, including wild fires, landslides, etc.. the rest of the country does not pay for our earthquake issues.
The wind blows faster than 100MPH each year - Get The Fuck Out! sensible people build to withstand the wind, or at least install shelters. they decided to go cheap, and it cost them. again.
If you live below sea level - Get The Fuck Out! or maintain your levies and dykes like they do in the netherlands.
Your house has ghosts - Get The Fuck Out! or call paranormal exterminators at your own expense.
Move to safe ground.

Dangerous places should be taxed much higher, like humans with their dangerous addictions and health.
or we could all move to "safe ground' in arizona, nevada utah and new mexico, abandoning the rest of the country as we all huddle together for fear of the grim wrath of Odin, or the implacable fury of Shiva, or the relentless indifference of Poseidon

expecting people to plan accordingly is NOT unreasonable, when my great uncle's house flooded out for the second time, he hired a crane, and all the kinfolk got together and we raised his house 20 feet on a new concrete basement/garage/boat dock/aquadrome

curiously, raising his house onto 20 foot foundation walls brought his house level to the road, eliminating the need for a twisting steep driveway, and gave him an awesome garage in the summer, and a sweet boat dock in winter, and completely eliminated the threat of flooding.

Or just build your houses out of bricks, you cheap fuckers.

We don't even have natural disasters here and ALL of our houses are made from bricks and concrete.

Know what wouldve happened if that tornado hit my house?

It'd knock the roof tiles off...

In short; read about the three little pigs and stop building your houses from matchsticks.

they can't figure out to rotate their potato crops with red clover, wheat, and veggies, but they will have no problem with 166 mph winds.

Earlier I overheard a snippet of news while chowing down at a local eatery.
Apparently many casualties were double-counted. The current death toll has been revised down to 24.
It's still a tragedy, but that's 27 noses better than the original estimate I'd heard. cn

Ordinarily, when I hear an initial casualty estimate from a sudden disaster, I mentally double it. This time I get to halve it. To me, that's welcome news and not very appropriate fro my usual flippancy. Jmo. cn

wonder if coburn and inhofe are gonna make sure to hold up the disaster relief bill.
I believe Coburn opposed it. The man sticks to his guns, but I do believe he lives in DC and not in Oklahoma for the majority of the year. Either way, I don't want to give those welfare queens any money as they are already stealing my tax dollars. Not my problem they got hit with a disaster.

Oh, I think I get it. Since I live in a 2 story house, I should lol at this tornado.

Lol at the rubble of hundreds of inferior one story houses, lo fuckin l.

I hope you get the runny shits for a month. ;)
