Should be legit man, you can use the 125 CFL for Veg, with the right spectrum then hook up the HID for flower :weed:

Nice dude, its too bad that it isn't a remote ballast....
You could always make it a remote ballast at another time to get some heat outta that tent
Nice purchase though bro, welcome to the world of HID growing

Yeah that's the plan, although given my track record of upgrading my lights halfway through, i'll probably get a MH bulb next grow. If i do that, i'm thinking of building (completely DIY nothing pre-fab) a CFL grow cab to use my 125W CFLs (both veg/flower spec) paying attention to dimensions to maximize the 125W

 i knew YOU'D be happy for me
finally stepping up, i hope i'm right about the HPS penetrating to the lower sites. it's only 25W more than the CFL i had.

AWESOME...!!! :clap::razz:
everything i hear about this lamp is that the temps are actually LOWER than most CFL setups. one person said under CFL they were hitting 100 F and after this they were balanced in the mid 80s
so i have high hopes, i'm going to rig a fan nearby to encourage the air movement upwards.

thanks for the positive feedback everybody.

I made a decision tonight. I'm going to top my GWS clone before putting her in the tent. I won't touch the LS, I dont like the internodal spacing on her, she likes to stretch and not develop at the nodes. GWS has it all, tight nodal spacing and vigorous nodal/auxin development.

The top taken from the GWS will be rooted alongside these two clones while i wait for them to go into the flowering tent. Once rooted she'll hang out in a party cup until she is upcanned to a 1 gallon and kept as a mother!!

Plans to build a veg tent are in the works!! The setup will be identical to the flowering tent, only half the height. Constructed using the same method and materials. With my 150W HPS on the way, the CFL hood i'm using now will move next door to run the veg tent!!   shit is starting to get legit over here!   Hopefully i'll be running a 150W Party Cup Mini-SOG soon!! 6 cups in flower at a time, pending results of this party cup GWS...

Not much to say, everything is looking good!

Gwen's lower shoots are starting to bud BEAUTIFULLY!! It's a dream to watch her grow.

Liza is starting to form her tops, she may be a week or so behind Gwen as far as development goes. Her stems looked a little meager, so I'm using yet ANOTHER training technique. Supercropping! I gave each of her shoots a tiny pinch and bend to one side, about 3 1/2 inches from the top. She isn't slumping like most supercropping you see, but the stem structure was slightly damaged. Hopefully this will do what its supposed to.

My understanding of supercropping (i hate that name btw) is that you damage the stem, so the plant repairs itself at the point of damage. The idea is after repairing itself its created a wider stem than existed prior to the "supercrop" so more water/nutrients are able to travel through this part of the stem. More nutrients/water, more growth development. ALSO! The damage point is said to, once recovered, be stronger than it was before and allow the stem to hold more weight. Which will give it the ability to make use out of the "extra" water/nutrients and make those bigger buds you're after.

We'll see how it goes. I'm not doing this to gwen, she is looking TOO pretty damage. Look forward to (fingers crossed!) a SOG using Gwen's clones!!

PS Pics later probably Gwen is looking good, I'd like to show her off a little bit!!

This is no longer a CFL grow

150W High Pressure Sodium is up and running!
So far a negligible increase in temps 2-3 degrees maybe.
I may add in some DIY CO2 to compensate.
Pics later after my girls take a drink and swell up, want them to be pretty for pictures!

We'll see, I don't predict myself to become a full HID convert. The 125W CFL did an AMAZING job getting my girls through veg and the early stages of bloom. (the pics speak louder than my words) Trichome production was awesome with the CFL. I just wanted to get the most out of this two plant grow (and this tent!). I suspect I may have added at least 1/2 oz to my final dry weight, from all of the lower buds that wouldn't have swelled otherwise.

I'm going to be keeping a close eye the next few days to see where bud/trichome production increases. Hoping to see the little hairs on lower shoots turn into buds!

I love HPS  that thing is just SO damn bright. My soil tester also has a light meter and on its scale my CFL was a 6/10 the HPS is a 9/10 :bigjoint:
So uh... BIG BUDS HERE I COME!! If you're a CFL grower and want to up your yields I HIGHLY recommend this setup, after running for a couple hours NO noticeable increase in temps. On with the pics!

Here is the HPS/tent as it exists now.

Pretty bitchin' right?
