Here's my recommendations:
GeekLight has a bar spread and spacing that is better than anyone else for even ppfd. Just wish it was 8 bars.

Checking all of these links out now. I see some familiar faces there too which is great! Thank you. Seriously, I really appreciate these links and will read through them now.

Thumbs up if I could...

It's called Liking my post. ;)
I guess I don’t have those privileges being a new’ish poster. :bigjoint:

Also, really looking hard at that Geek Beast Pro LED, great suggestion. You weren’t kidding about PPFD and spread. Digging that spectrum as well. Will hit up the sales rep and go from there Airwalker16. Thank you.

You're welcome, man.

Anyone here use this light? I know it gets some hate on these forums, and, the info is apparently out there but I can't seem to find it. I'm still very new to the cannabis community so it's hard for me to understand all the history.

When I was researching lights I was honestly more interested in gavita, chilled, and hlg, but all were having inventory issues because of covid (I'm assuming). I ended up going with Optic because they were in the same price range as chilled and gavita and the specs are nuts.

Could I have gotten a cheaper light or built one myself? Absolutely. But, price wasn't really part of the equation for me. This thing is a fucking beast and I'm sure it will perform well for me, but, I'm still curious about the history with this company and the community. Some seem to think it's not even the same Optic and others say they're a trashy company. I've done some digging and can't seem to find much evidence good or bad. I will say that I was a little shocked that there were no instructions or manual with the light, especially for the price. I also thought the cord was to way too short, I had to buy an extension cord to get it outside the tent.

Here's your "optic slim 600H"

So that's a random led strips light on Alibaba that apart from also having 8 bars otherwise looks completely different from the actual "optic slim 600H"?

My bad, wrong link.
But if you're thinking the optic doesn't have 8 bars, you're wrong.

You can see the hinges are the same on this model. I know they're getting them from an Alibaba vendor. There's no doubt in my mind. I actually think they used the first link, tweaked the spectrum to the blue/red interchanging monos, and had them use the hinges in this link instead. Also the first link states right at the bottom they'll custom print whatever you'd like on your the frame for your entire order

I said that 8 led strips was the only similarity between the two.

The other link is also clearly not the same. Just because it utilizes perhaps the same hinge, doesn't negate that 37"x37" is quite a different size as 41"x42"

So it all boils down to that you think it might be from the same factory. Just like an iPhone and an Xbox are both made by Foxxconn and are therefore identical?

Sure you can buy Fluence clones and components like led boards directly from Alibaba and if it has the same specs as the lights sold by other manufacturers that could be a fine replacement. It's always a bit of a gamble though.

I was worried about the gamble, especially as someone completely new to growing. It can be overwhelming sifting through all the research and options out there when you're just starting out. I know I could have gotten more value for my money, but, I was more comfortable keeping it local if something went wrong. I don't think Optic is the only company overcharging for lights either.

@TheRealJPeterman Exactly. Airwalker has some beef with this company apparently. Indeed you can buy stuff cheaper if you get clones from China. Still, they won't come with a reasonably warranty or even a guarantee that what you get is as advertised.

To claim that the stuff on Alibaba is identical because the hinge is the same is just silly. You see plenty of pretty much identical looking Gavita and Fluence clones, but that doesn't mean they are the same thing. Or that Gavita/Fluence source them from there.

They might simply have cheap epistar leds on them. Although I saw an argument on youtube where people preferred a Mars TS-3000 with epistar leds over a HLG-550 since it's half the price and not that far behind on build quality or efficacy to overcome the price difference. To each their own I guess.

They have a bad track record. Doesn't .ran their new fixtures aren't putting out a dope spectrum and using new tech. But all I'm saying is the same tech can be bought for far cheaper. I do like the blue they add.

I like my optic slim 600. I might pull 2+lbs off of it this run, out of a 5x5. I pulled a pound+ off my first harvest with an optic 8+ with only 3 plants, really 2.5. One plant was stunted. I like the even spread of the slim tho and how close the plants can get to the light without burning. (Day 43 of 70)

What are the basic settings your using on Optic 8 for veg/flower? Are you going full blast late in bloom? When do use the bloom enhancer? Thanks!
