yeah I so cant wait, it's my first true grow, ... I have never really harvested a bunch of buds so I am very happy with the results. Even if the buds were to stay the same size for the next 2 weeks I am happy with what I got so far, next yield won't be as good because the plants were put 12/12 from seeds but next year, I will try really hard to greatly improve my yield in the same space!! anyway, I figured another 12 days for the Afghan Kush, then I will kill it!! a few more days for the other 2!

Yeah harvesting a decent haul can be fun. I usually put on star wars episode one and my fingers bleed by episode 4 haha.

It does get old though, my last harvest moon was quite busy for about a month. A few days each week by the way it worked out including a pretty monster ak that went to 5.5 zips. My roomie (another patient) is only helpful for about the first 3 stems then gets all tuckered out haha.

I would like to very much, but i hear conflicting reports of defoliation during the first few weeks in flower. Some reports suggest that the plant will stretch more(which i cant afford) while others suggest it will reduce yield notably. I have done a little tucking and pruning of above and below bud-sites and fan leaves, but i am waiting until the stretch is 100% stopped before i get too far into leaf removal.

If anyone has first hand experience and can confidently say the above is BS, im always open to suggestion.

I can confiedntly say you will get a better yield if you lolly pop correctly. that being said learning to trim and what not to trim can be a difficult endeavor. my recommendation anything 2 inches under the screen should go. then tuck all the fan leaves. When you flower a plant it always stretches trimimng or not trimming is not going to stop this. if you clear out a lot of it it will stretch more, but its not gonna stop stretching until after it would be too late to lolly pop and affect your yield.

hope this helps, pm me if need it

Right on, i just gave her some water/molasses today, i think i will trim a bit tomorrow, though i might wait a few more days as i imagine i will be busy tomorrow. The plant is looking great, buds are getting minutely bigger each day. I cant wait to see this monster of a room at 5 weeks :)

the buds I have under my screen are doing fine, I had cut everything below the screen early on but whatever made it is doing fine,... the lower buds have more brown hairs!? anyway, since it's your first grow and everything looks really good I wouldnt worry about chopping anything, just let nature do it's thing from now... most of those lower buds will be really nice anyway and the ones that are underdeveloped you can still make hash with them or water cure them. looking good, I know the feeling about yields, I can't wait to see my yield as well,... it's going to be from 3 plants that looked like yours at some point!! good luck!

Looks great. Did you top her in order to branch her out like that? If so teach me how :D
Yes i topped her when she had some decent side branches at about 10inches tall. All i did was pinch off the top right above a branch node.

My plants are all always excessively bushy, I think the reason being because I almost always veg under led and i always have the lights at the proper height. Even my so called full sativa i had was bushy.

You can also pinch the top of your plant with your soft part of your thumb so you don't actually take anything off just crush the stem a bit. This promotes bushing as well.

Updates on Wednesday, three week mark. The bud sites are taking form and becoming little buds more and more each day.

Ok so I am taking pics here of the 3week mark in a minute. Plants are progressing nicely. The leaves are all nicely colored and the buds are developing on a nice schedule. They are really close to plumping up and their stretch has stopped.

I would update more, but unless you all want more mid week pics nothing really to show. No problems to get assistance on, or much else. So just a waiting game now

Yep we're entering the fun weeks here.

Of all the ak48s i have had from the last batch, this plant is definently the healthiest and best. 3weeks and it's very far along with a little frost even creeping around.

I just sealed the cab using the vaselene silicon method, was a little paranoid of light leaks.

Well a bit over a year ago i chose the spectra because it was the only led company that seemed legit. I read a number of journals from people using the light and that was that.

Like i said, i have yet to flower with it myself. Seeing the dead weight will hopefully make a believer out of me as well. I'm still a bit skeptical of LEDs on larger grows, i feel now they ares more suited for small grows. But really a few lights properly spaced could be this grow on a bigger scale. Like i said, I'm excited to see what happens too :)

Thanks for the support.

Small update:

I am considering selling all my lights and gear that i can to start over. I recently (like an hour ago) found a sulfur plasma light that is available on our shores, as always im a bit short of cash, so lets see what my tax refund nets me haha. in any case, unless a very poor harvest, i think i will keep this light indefinitely. I already have the money into it (and would be a tough sell) and i really like how it performs.

In other news, Week 4 is coming! these things are filling out by the day.

Your plant is looking real good. It should be a easy sell, you would get most of your money back if you were to sell your light. the sulfur plasma grow Ive seen looked amazing. They grow plants like their on steroids. But, the issue for me would still be the electricity those pull, the heat signature on them are lower then a hps though.

Thanks!

Yes there are always considerations, but as for power draw not bad. The starter unit im looking at is 270w, while the more expensive, not yet available, unit is variable between 500 and 1300w. So on par with most lights we use today.

You might be thinking of the big sulfur plasma lights that you occasionally see out of china and eastern Europe(in my experience) and yes those are a different scale altogether.

Ok so tomorrow is shaping up to be a busy day... So pics a day early! this essentially marks the 4th week of 12/12. The plant is forming nicely and is even frosting up already. This grow is shaping up to be a solid round indeed. Much much better than the last ak48 batch i had(was temperamental with nute strength.

Karr, your buds look awesome.
Does anyone know what the differences are between the spectra 120's vs. the spectra 100's? I have the spectra 100's but have never seen what the 120's are like.

One important lesson I've learned over the years. KEEP YOUR SHIT!! Nothings worse when you decide to sell your shit for something better and then you realize you shoulda kept what you already had to begin with!!
