Taboo topics...deal with them.

Well it IS a drug. Much in the way that caffiene and tobacco are.

HOWEVER, the potential for abuse and harmful affects to the body are in NO way comparative to heroin or crack.

It's not a taboo subject. It is a DISGUSTING subject.

If you feel you need to talk about your highly addictive and body wrecking addiction, then you need to find a counselor/doctor/priest.

ive lived on both sides of the street and can tell you the life style of an heroin or crack addict is nothing like the lifestyle of a ganja smoker. My life didn't make sense on hard drugs on cannabis it makes perfect sense. Your taking dopefein mentality and mixing it with stoners who just have mentality it's a dangerous mix the two for sure!
How many people today would you recommend pot to?

How many people today would you recommend heroin to?

(not talking to you directly, just using your post as example)

The topic isn't taboo. What you are saying is taboo. Heroin use, not so much, glorifying it or thinking that it or any other kind of addiction is OKAY isn't. OKAY you use, we get it. This board isn't about that though. While I won't call you names and shit like that I will tell you WHY others are. Simply put we understand you are addicted to Heroin, We aren't. Mention it in passing or be happy on mile stones ETC.

There is no need to just dwell on it all the time.
I have never even seen Heroin up close.....The people who assume I have/do are the people arguing alongside you. Misinformed, combative, and simply unwilling to see positive intent in me because they don't read. I am frustrated. How can nobody read?

you can use me anytime lol! But seriously I recommend no one uses crack or heroin. I have a sense of control with my life and using cannabis. I can throw all that out the door in an instant with shot of a needle filled with dope and crack. That's what I see for the most part on the heroin threads and others...people coming to the realization that what was fun and games has now become a ball and chain.

i don't judge or anything like that, seeing as I'm an addict of sorts myself, but I do wish others would know they aren't fucked for life and there is a better way. It's called rehabilitation and willingness to change.

the ones that really get me are the ones who act like they are ok with being addicted, it's never ok I don't care how much you try to tell yourself that.

Certain topics are just dangerous and better avoided.

If a person we all know is raped, they may or may not tell us. That is their choice. Usually when a woman admits to being raped it opens a whole can of worms that makes most decent human being sick to their stomaches at the insensitivity of some members of this forum.

You suggest a race roast yesterday right?

How many bad ideas do you have stored in your noggin?
So you choose to avoid them....dangerous is a few people acting as censors and free speech is now just your opinions of what is/isn't appropriate. That is not ok. Instead trying to cut me to prove a point by default....make your own or walk away. This is amateur hour.

I get that you want people to be able to talk about it.

Noone is restricting them from talking about it in a healthy supportive way.

It's when threads degenerate into unhealthy support and/or straight up harrassment that you see the problem.

It is best not to host these kind of threads because they bring bad publicity to a site.

I am not a moderator but if I was, threads about meth/heroin/crack that were supporting the use of those drugs would not be around long.

Yea it's kinda the last thing I want to see when I first wake up and check out riu. For those of us who have changed our ways it's hard to even see the word heroin or crack somedays without a trip down memory lane:( just have to leave it in memory lane is the secret.

Here is a homework assignment for you.

Go to the Sexuality and Religion subforum.

Look up some rape threads in TnT. Mostly by our own insensitive to rape mod.

Take a glance at ANY of the religion threads.

Do I want to offer support to victims of rape? Sure do! Is it possible to do that without inflammatory comments making the situation worse in threads? No.

Would I like to have a cordial open minded discussion about religion pros and cons? Yes. Is it possible with strangers on the internet trolling and harrassing? No.

I am glad you understand truly. My ambitions are not pro-crack, pro-rape, pro-misery they are the opposite. All I want is to help, in my own way. The people qualified to say if I succeeded in helping almost 100% of the time would. So, the result of my presence is a positive one and I care about that deeply.

Exactly. Same goes for rape threads. They are not fun, they are not necessary.

Keep this forum about pot. AT LEAST keep the shit out of Toke n Talk where people go to relax and share a laugh.

I agree with this.

I'm not against heroin/crack/meth discussions in general (I consumed some fairly filthy substances in my youth), but I agree a Cannabis forum is probably not the place for such discussions.

If I were hosting a movie forum, and members used it as a medium to discuss their addictions to pornographic films, I would suggest they found a more appropriate site on which to continue the dialogue, having nothing against pornography either.

Done. I can and do, but I have the choice to. I value those choices and taking them away makes critical thinking harder.

A person starting a thread there might want / be able to choose the mods for a given subject. Sounds fair *shrugs*

Peeps are too touchy when they believe something that belongs to them, or they belong to, seems "disturbed". Sometimes when you say to someone that the music that they listen to sucks, what they hear is "you suck".

I could see veterans using that maybe. Not my interest, but I would not participate. I have no issue with it existing....it is about real events.
