taxed by the mile?

Taxing compulsive Items is nothing new, they've been doing it since the inception.
Yeah, and everyday the list of "sin" taxes seems to grow. You happy about that? I just can't get behind letting an out of control government decide what is and what's not a sin. With nationalized healthcare around the corner, how long before the government starts fining you for not putting in a hard workout at the gym? After all, "your" health is part of the collective, (sounds Borg-like) and why should we have to pay for "your" laziness/unhealthy choices? Can't you see where this is all going? They're stripping of us of our freedoms and doing their best to turn society into one like a colony of insects.

"Sin" shouldn't even be in the vocabulary of our elected leaders when it comes to governing the people.

I'm not religious, therefore, for me, there is no sin. So why am I being taxed according to someone else's morals and beliefs?

Right On brother!! The Politicians are the biggest bunch of "Sinners" there is if you ask me.

Yeah, I agree Sin should not be in their vocabulary.
All they should care about is the Facts
Was someone hurt?
Was something broken?
Was something stolen?
Was fraud commuted?
Thats it.

Not was he on drugs at the time?
Who cares, does it really change anything.

I don't mind the Tax on the roads in and of themselves.
I don't like the big brother aspect.
And no I have nothing to hide its just the principle of the thing.
I don't want tracking devices on my shit.

Call me names if you must but it seems we are getting close
to inserting chips in our right hands so we can buy and sell.
And I'm getting uncomfortable with the level of Prophicy in my legislation, LOL.

.

That just reminded me of this garbage I read the other day... some statistics the DOJ came up with to prove that marijuana does contribute to other crime.

They drug tested a bunch of people who got arrested and (amazingly, NOT) found that a large number of those people tested positive for drugs (namely, marijuana).

What's funny is that they completely fail to mention how many of those people were arrested FOR DRUG POSSESSION (which is like, 80-90% of all arrests nationwide).

OF COURSE someone who is arrested for pot possession is going to test positive for marijuana, and someone who is arrested for cocaine possession is going to test positive for cocaine. DUH. It isn't surprising at all that when the majority of people are arrested for drug possession, they're going to test positive for drugs! That doesn't IN ANY WAY link drug use with crime, other than the fact that drug use ITSELF is a crime.

Someone in another thread accused me of hating America.

They're right. I do hate America. It's fucking stupid. Our laws are stupid, and our legislators are even stupider.

And don't even get me started on the law enforcement in this country....

Wait, they're only going to tax liberals?

Fuckin' idiot. You act like you're somehow above this, like it wouldn't apply to you as well?

I believe the proposed tax would apply to everyone, equally. Republicans and Libertarians wouldn't be exempt.
THATS WHAT YOU GET FOR THINKING .
THE TAX'S PROPOSED ARE WHAT IS CALLED REGRESSIVE . I KNOW..YOU DONT KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS..THAT MEANS THE PEOPLE WITH THE LEAST AMOUNT OF MONEY PAY MORE PER PERCENTAGE OF THEIR INCOME THAN SOMEONE WHO IS RICH. IT IS GOING TO DESTROY THE POOR..SUCK UP THE MIDDLE CLASS'S EXPENDABLE INCOME THAT FUELS THE ECONOMY..AND THE RICH WILL JUST PAY IT ANYWAY..AND ADD THE COST TO THE BILL WHEN YOU BUY SOMETHING FROM THEM. dumb shits i swear liberals have no logic at all..obama is raping the poor fool.

You know what's funny? This tax was actually proposed by the US Transportation Secretary.. NOT Obama.

Guess what's even funnier? The transportation secretary is a REPUBLICAN!

Taxing by the mile will ensure the continued flow of YOUR money to the government if fuel economy improves. The present system of tax happens at the pump, the point of purchase. The next step monitoring your mileage and invading YOUR property with electronic widgets is simply the inevitable advancement of the totalitarian state. Welcome to the new brand of "freedom". So what if somebody has an electric non pollution emitting car...will they tax that too?

Well, apparently max420thc can't come up with any more arguments since I pointed out that this tax was proposed by a Republican and not Obama at all.

I think I officially pwned this thread.

Good day, sirs.

You repukes and libtards are so paranoid, it's pathetic. Big brother, big brother, yeah yeah yeah. I'm sorry, but it is already here. You are monitored from cradle to death. If you own a credit card, the Gov. Knows your whereabouts and yout spending habits every time you swipe that card. Make 50K and spend 75K, you're prime suspect for an IRS audit, where did that 25K come from? Your anonimity is much greater with cash, but even then you are not off the hook, cell phones keep you under surveillance at all times. How could you afford all those trips on 50K. It is just a fact of life that in this electronic age, the government can keep much closer tabs on you. If you are that concerned, I've heard tinfoil hats help a bit, keeps the microwaves out of your empty heads, where they'll bounce around in that vacuous space and create havoc. I suppose the revolution will start anytime now, you'll give up your credit cards and cell phones, close down your computers and only watch TV with rabbit ears, well, sorry but you'll not be missed on this site by me. Adios libtards and repukes. May you live in solitude where you rightly belong.

Does it matter who came up with it?

It's still a wretched stupid asinine idea.

Solitude is nice, if you can get it and if "they" allow it. I do live far enough out that trips to the store to buy more tinfoil for my hat are an event.

You bring up a good point, in this electronic age the government can keep an invasive eye on people...doesn't mean we should accept it though.

Your beloved government and big brother are here, another good point. So your solution is to bend over and take it? Oh and concerning microwaves, I don't have one. I fill the vacuous spaces in my head with antiquated thoughts of liberty, leaving people alone and hating the government.

I know this probably sounds like a dumb question but wouldn't this all kind of even out in the long run? If you have a gasoline vehicle you would pay tax at the pump, and probably during the vehicle transition stage (consumers switching to electric or non gasoline vehicles with government monitored GPS) would pay through government billing. The only ones who would lose out are the idiots who buy gasoline vehicles with government monitored GPS. The solution. . . buy a non-gasoline vehicle.

3 day SPECIAL!!!!

WOOT THATS RIGHT FOLKS!

FOR $59.95 you TOO can have your very OWN....

GPS CPU TAXMAN DISABLER.

EASY TO INSTALL! 2 WIRE HOOKUP! SAVE 1,000's OF DOLLARS!

Are you angry the Feds are watching you a lil' too close!????

Well F.E.A.R. NO MORE!

Oh ps. turn off your wi-fi......"they" are listening to us thru our internetz frequency and amplifying it to produce sound. like lil microphones and stealing our ideas............you do know wireless technology is old as hell, works like a broadcast radio, so everybody, watch your wifi. Not only that but I heard you get prostate cancer and stuff when your laptop is actually on your lap. Im sure if youre slick, the ethernet line probly works like the phone line too. Probly guaranteed.

Honey where did you put the tinfoil.......?

The aliens are coming.

Y'know, they say to change your oil every 3,000 miles.

If they friggin made an engine that actually was more, umm effecient, we wouldnt have these problems. y'know, pistons, the engine block itself, aluminum, fuel pumps, alternators, what a joke man. I want new materials, DUPONT!, why dont we go back to steam? The combustion engine is bullshit, but they will keep bringin it if we keep buying it. Haldron collider, ha what a joke.

Why dont they wise up and put money back into humanity, and diagnose less problems, and stop injecting money everywhere, almost like fake ass doctors with no degree and trying to fix a patient who is doomed while we have these so called doctors in our midst.

Sometimes I wonder what is the effective level of eduaction for someone in congress, or supreme court, or legislative, or executive branch. These people should be the most experienced, highly regarded, popular, well known people, but I hate them to bits. Absolutely. These people should be loved by us, but in reality, hated. Hated with such hatred and frustration, I wish more people would get a chance to run government. They stay in power for wayy to long, the stick just gets passes to the next idiot with the biggest lies.

Thats it, simply diagnosing too many problems at once I think, and never really fixing anything, or at least, never come to a conclusive answer. Its always up in the air. I wish we could work on things that acyually have issues for once,

For them to place correction on us, who purchase these vehicles, is definately wrong.

If they want more compliance and less pollution, they should start with what is actually doing the harm, not strap us to death while "they" find a solution by 2020. I WANT ANSWERS NOW! Not in 20 years. WTF man.? Just raping the hell out of us. Now with more transparency than ever.

How do you make the assumption that something is there when it really isnt? Like the gov. Transparency, I donno why I hate that word.

This is disgusting. Really, pull a number out of thier butts and go with it. I cant wait to hear about levels of pollution, and if we go over "THIS" amount were doomed!!!!!!!!!!

Garbage, pure garbage.

I dont know why they dont clamp down onto the actual auto makers, and oil companys to merge together or some kinda scheme they are all to good at then pass it to us to pay our lil 1 percent on.

1 percent over time adds up to astronomical figures, thats how they are playing us, little by little, so we dont feel the effect as an individual, but as a whole.

Even playing field......???
