Hey lumberjack thanks for the response. Another noob question sorry... where can i get the seeds? and do the seeds sold online the real thing? like do they contain thc? are are they like legal buds ?

this is my last question promise, and i couldent find any thread online pertaining to this. What kind lighting does this hempy set up need? natural light ? or ? im confused :{

HPS lighting is best. The size depends on your growspace. 50watts per sq ft of grow area is a good benchmark. HTGSupply.com is my favorite place for growlights.

lightings up to you... if you can do hempy buckets outside great!
indoors i suggest an HID

the more lighting, the better... just don't add light that won't help (incandescants, halogens, etc)

and for seeds... i'd suggest going with mandala seed comp.
they're one of the best prices out there and their genetics are really decent... i'd suggest thumbing through their strains =]

Definitely use a fresh batch each time.

everytime i've reused soil i've had algae problems... would use some h202 if i had it to see if it'd kick it, but didn't get around to that... easy enought to just use new perlite

That would be a great start. Then later, when you buy something bigger you can use it as a veg light. Beats the shit out of the same wattage in CFL.

some type of tray to catch the water
General Hydroponics Grow/Micro/Bloom
hps 150 watt lighting

as far as the bucket should i star in a small one like 2 gallons? or how does that work exctly, i know some people started out in a 16 oz cup? not sure...

Guys thanks a mill for all informative responses so far....

Start in a cup then transfer to larger pots. Or you can just cut off the bottom of the pot and stick it on top of the larger one. Works fine.

Leave out the grow of the GH 3-part. Or even easier, just get the 1 part FloraNovaBloom. It is the same make-up as the 0/8/16 Lucas formula that is so well known. Use 8ml/gal of the FNG.

You can leave out the vermiculite too if you want. 100% perlite will work fine.

The only other thing I see that you may need depending on your setup is some exhaust. Plants like airflow.

also guys i had a question as far getting the seeds, is there websites that sell clones or do i have to start with seeds?

also guys what is better lighting system overall HPS or T5 system? like i said before im going to start w/ 1
3-5 gallon bucket most likely and was looking into buying a 150 watts hps system but im not to sure wouldent 400 watts be better or 150 is good enough for my set up?

Well I hate to make yall jealous but just picked up a combo 400 Watt MH/HPS ballast with both bulbs..the hood and the cord set for 150 new and in the box. Coulda got the 1,000 watter for the same money but figured it might fry my action. Now is that special or whut? 5 year ghurantee on the ballast which weigh 26 pounds. Now whut do a ballast do to make it weigh that much? Let me know. Going for the 3rd havest using CFL's and have formed an opinion on them twin bulb fittings. I think my habs is looking mo betta under a single bulb with a reflector ala Wal Mart work lights than two bulbs on a Y splitter shining off into outter space. Now feel free to correct my thinking here.

400 is always better than 150. It's a matter of space, cash on-hand, and exhaust available. If you can cool the 400W and can afford it .. jump on it. I did.

To answer the question of what you need for exhaust we need more info about your grow space ... Size ... location ... sealed or not ... etc....

I was thinking would this be a problem since it is not the 'correct' color (2700K vs 6500K). I was going to start with a CFL's then move to this for flowering (only doing two plants now, they are germinating now.

Ok my ppl's let me start by saying thanks to all of you who have given advice. I just tumbled acrossed the site and decided to sign up and within couple hrs got responses. praise .LOL.

Alright so basically this is what i have in my list:

I will be building a tent like closet.
Im thinking of getting one those plastic closets at walmart for like 30 bucks, instead buying the dark room tents that are like $100 +. I will then insert panda film all around the inside cutting out the holes accordingly for the intake/exhaust system.
Now the size of this closet will be
2'Wx4'Lx2.5'D so not very big but decent size.

Now guys this is where im a little confused, first link is a 250 Watt HPS & MH
The second link is a 400 Watt HPS & MH as well only difference is the wattage, but why are the prices the same?, i know you guys say 400 watts is better but remeber im only starting w/ 2 hempy (2-4 gallons), so i dont wanna overdue it.

anoter question is will iIbe able to make a cooltube on these lights? reason I ask is because i see that there are two different bulbs in this kind light (HPS & Mh bulbs).

So here comes my question about this part of the project.
How many holes do i need to make in the tent for the exhaust/ intake system?
As far I Understand One 4" on the top for exhaust and carbon filter maybe??, Two 4" inches on the side as well this basically are use for the ducting coming out the light or for the passive intake ?? Not sure; this is where i need help guys, i dont have the shematics on how the ducting is placed and positioned.
