The Quest for a Better Aero!

Sometimes the simplest methods are the best. Im not trying to complicate things by getting all complex with HPA. I just want to avoid some of the work that i might run into when i start to plumb this LP rig together. Such as misters, and the pump size, and number of sprayers etc. I know atomizer loves the math side of things , maybe he will chime.

I know it works and puts out some great plants. I just finished a run in the system, but each wall (3 at the moment) had its own reservoir and high volume low pressure pump (1500gph submersible) My next run i want to plumb it all together and use one res one pump. (easier on my back changing one reservoir outside the room that way).

Clones i started with and found to be infested with root aphids. But recovered and made it to harvest.

Im glad i found this thread. Im in the process of setting up a low pressure 60 site vertical run. I was hoping to get some feedback before i start the trial and error process, maybe it will save me alot of work.

Treefarmer recomended i use this pump for my LP system. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&_trksid=p4340.l2557&hash=item1c1b25e243&item=120714551875&nma=true&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&rt=nc&si=Ed1r582usLTscpR2KHskJhfnejk%253D

I want to use the high flow red sprayers beacuse they rarely clog, but i think with these sprayers this pump will probably run almost continualy? I was thinking of going with the DIG misters rated at .8gph http://www.dripirrigation.com/drip_irrigation_parts/602

I know with my design and such a small root chamber that trying to get HP roots will be impossible. But my question is: does it really matter when im just trying to go for a LP run? The .8 DIG misters will serve a purpose to keep from the pump having to over cycle. Even if i put two misters in each bucket (1.6gph) its still less water flow that the accumulator tank would need to pressurize. ?

I will be adding the 4th wall to complete the cube (60) sprayers
And here I thought this thread was dead, lol. First thing I see as a potential problem is those dig nozzles are the same ones I'm going to be using, and I do believe they will require a bit more pressure than a sump pump can provide. I've also got a couple in my greenhouse running from my 60 psi pump. They still manage to make a decent sized droplet, but the coverage isn't as good as 100 psi.

Can you explain why you wanna run the pump 24/7? On my last setup I ran 15 on 15 off, and had great results with that. No real root fuzz to speak of, but still pretty good. I would try to talk you into HPA, but 60 sites is a shitload of solenoids, and I wouldn't wanna buy that many. If sticking wth LPA, I'd just go with whatever LP nozzles you were going to use, but get a decent timer that can let ya go for a few seconds, then rest a few minutes. It only takes a couple of seconds to get the roots wet. Anything more is rather ineffcient. I burnt through a pump in 2 months running 15 on 15 off. That was a diaphragm pump, mind you. Those well pumps are fine running constant, but it doesn't really give any benefit compared to running with pauses.

Your build looks sweet. If ya wanna HPA it out, that would be tits!

Thanks Mike..actually i think you might of read what i said wrong. I dont want to run it constant! I wanna do something like 30 seconds on 4 off. But with my red sprayers (ez clone type) i think the pump will run more then i would want. Not sure what the red sprayers are rated at but i think its like 6gph or something crazy.

Which brings my question of will this system work with the pump i linked and the misters i linked? I would like to do HP with this setup but, dont you think the containers are a bit small to acheive the hp roots?

I don't think the nozzles you posted in the link are gonna work very good, but just about any LP nozzle would be fine. You might try these (img/home depot). I used them in my last run, and I think they work pretty decent at lower pressures. The orifice is big, and I never had one clog, recirculating nutes. I think 30 on, 4 off would be fine with any nozzle you use, to be honest.
