So i could come up with an original idea, market it, produce it, but I can't own it?
Not as far as I know, you can patent products, but how would you go about patenting an idea? For example, how would you patent capitalism, evolution, etc.. ? The ideas that lead to unique products that can be patented don't really apply in this context

It's called intellectual property, songs and books come under this.

I think copy-write is the term I'm looking for, not patent, but... big diff?

Yes I learned about indentured servitude years ago. I get it was consensual, etc, it just seems morally wrong to me.

Just my view on it.
I understand your view. My point was there are things you do that other people find immoral. If we based what we did on what everyone thought was moral we wouldnt be allowed to do much.

My viewpoint comes from the aspect that we should own our own bodies and be able to do what we want with them yet the government in many ways prevents us. Anti-drug laws, employment laws, etc. They are couched in a way that the government is supposedly protecting you or upholding your rights but when all is said and done it has become illegal for you do do things with your own body and labor.

So, you are less free but morally superior I guess...

I think I'm just as free, I just choose not to participate in something like that.

I agree in not knowing how to patent an idea like that. I dont think they are able to be patented as it stands now.

At least I have a better understanding of what you meant by ideas.
