What light should I buy

Has anyone pulled 3 lbs off an LED equivalent to a 1000 watt DE. I have tried top notch LEDs and they do a great job don't get me wrong but these DE 1000s are pretty damn good. I save energy by running them at 600 for the first couple weeks. Just curious I feel the energy savings and maintenance difference isn't enough yet to switch over to LEDs. Besides I wouldn't have anything to hold up my shelves in my grow room if I rehung the LEDs . I can see where heat is an issue and you have to use them but I'm just not sold.

I haven't seen the grow that pulls three pounds from a DE yet at all. And that's 1150W on full blast, just to keep the math right.

I'm betting my own money right now I can do it with 1000W of CXB3590.

Bonjour
After how many hours you have to change a 1000w de? And the reflector?
Cause normaly the cxb underdriven last for 100000 hours...
And cxb 3590 3500k cd 36V @350mA are 2 times more efficient than a 1000w de...
Have a great day ★
About every 2 years I hear the bulb needs to be replaced I haven't used them for very long but am very impressed with there performance so far . Like I said in my earlier post I did try LEDs they just didn't preform like these de 1000s maybe I tried the wrong ones but my output dropped by several lbs with a 10 light set up. From that point i have given a couple away and the rest support shelves just outside my flower room. I was thinking about using one in my mother room but just haven't yet.

Yeah, I've been on the sidelines in the LED game for a long time too- so I get where you're coming from.

This is genuinely new tech and it's already several iterations into improvements in spectrum, efficiency, intensity and cost.

So I'm throwing some money at it. I'll tell y'all what happens.

I was looking at the area 51 and seen the cxb 300 I know I could get one for $600 and get 3 of the new area 51 light for $500 but my limit is 500 maybe 600 for light but if i go for vero diy isn't it much more or are vero light around the same price range and building is out the question not good with tools? Also Im just trying to grow maybe 2-4 plants in a regular size closet.

Not if you count cooling savings as well. It's hard to run a 1000 in a 4x4 area. Alot easier to run 500 watts of cob in there. How many harvests would it take to make up the diffrence of what a 400 can produce vs a 1000? Payback period less than 3 months
1 grow will pay for the light. I get a pound off 4 plants with only 372 watts and this run will be more

Question for you; I'm in big tub RDWC. I ran EC 1.7 under HPS and I'm running EC 2.0 under 860W CDM. What's your recommendation as a starting point for growing under CXB3590 @3500Kelvin?

1kw HPS covers at least a 5x5 area, 500 watts of COBs will need ventilation you will need like forever to recover electrical costs and it will be hard to match yields. You guys must have some expensive electrical costs, here in Colorado they are some of the lowest in the nation and even offer options to buy more power with a solar and wind power option through the local power supply company which will even further lower your electrical bill. I know some places here running 40 one thousand watt duel ended HPS , now that's an electric bill!
No 1 grow and less electricity and I leave my tents open in my grow room. I speak from experience.

Realstyles Ok what light you think I'll be better off I can't build so I can't make it .3 area 51 of the new one or the cxb 300 but there out of stock ?How much you think I'll be able to get out of 2-4 plants with these light if you know?

How big is the grow area?

I know you do...who don't know?!? Lol
But if you want to run them softer in the future (when we gonna have 70% efficient cobs) it will be easier with 36V
Easy to find 350mA driver with good efficiency but a 175mA one would harder to source.JMO

Realstyles it's a regular closet in a master bed room im alway from my house on vacation family trip so don't know exact size? Also found a area 51 150 rw,3 of the new area51 or 1 cxb300 so those 3 lights which one would u think is best in there and how much u think I can get out of 2-4 plants?
