When will we know the fate of Prop. 19?

Same here.. seriously, wtf guys? why the hell would you vote no on this? This will be a major step forward in freedom for the whole world, everyone is watching closely from all over, California will be the first of many imo if this passes. The only reason someone would vote no is out of greed - unless someone can convince me otherwise. You realise if it doesn't pass, that's it, the general public will believe it didn't pass because people do not want cannabis around because it's such a bad drug..
This is only the beginning, not the end, of legalization.

It's kind of interesting that people from other countries want it to pass. Kind of sends a message doesn't it?
The entire world is watching this. Prohibition only works when the people refuse to be governed by it. If California does pass the initiative, it will provide a lot of encouragement to other states to follow.

A no vote is a YES vote on prohibition.

One of the u.k's reasons for not legalizing is pressure from the u.s. If cali passes, other states will follow, and eventually, the u.k.

If the bill passes, it's a major step forward for the cause i'm sure we all believe in, yes it's not perfect, but it's a step forward, and if it doesn't pass... well a huge step back imo.

This is only the beginning, not the end, of legalization.
Yea, definately, it's only the begging, but if it doesn't pass, it's the end for a long while i think.

The problem you have with it only being legalised in one state, but not in others is you create an amsterdam effect, where people from neigbouring areas, as well as tourists come to the area to use pot, and don't give a fuck about anything, becomming a public nuisance. Part of why there has been a big clampdown on dutch coffee shops. The other problem with it being illegal in other states is that it means it is still expensive in those states and thus a valuable commodity, when you combine that with the free availabilty of weapons, you stand to create a mini mexico, with tourists for target practice.

You have a point, i still don't think this justifies voting no though. Also, it's not like all states are ever going to legalize at the same time. But as i say, after cali, chances are many others will follow.

I've been to Orlando fl I've seen this exact thing your talking about. Minus legal weed.

No the mini Mexico with tourists for target practice. Go to Orlando it's already happening there.

People do not need anymore excuses to kill each other, money is already the main reason causing what I believe to be about 90% of all human deaths. Throw weed into the mix and you may see that number decline IMHO.

Too many things to comment on, but I will comment on something that I do know about. The Netherlands (not just Amsterdam) has a relaxed policy on weed. The main pressure on the Netherlands comes from countries around the Netherlands (and a few conservative minded people in some areas.) The pressure to change coffeeeshops in particular has come from an area (or city) called Maastricht. If you google you will see this is like in a little bollock of the Netherlands. The town has visitors from the surrounding countries..guess what, buying shit loads of weed, no border controls, no checks, happy days for all. But some locals didn't like the traffic. Some people forget there is more to weed, or selling it, than just the product. Coffeeshops in places get harrassed because of smell, people hanging outside, undesirables, etc, all the same things bars have. Anyway, I digress, California will NOT complain about people going there and smoking. And if the police there are in anyway in control of tourists, that will remain, Dutch police laugh at the "pissed up, out of it" tourists, but they control them in the right way.
I know a lot of people will suffer if some thing changes, and that is always bad, it is just a shame that people cannot communicate and listen in a better manner, which in turn would mean that the bill would have been better contructed and liked by everyone...I mean, if you smoke, why would you not want what a lot of the peeps above said.

Peace and love to the, No'ers and Yes'ers all the same....

EDIT: Oh, and the one other thing that is a pain in the arse at the moment to the Weed movement in NL, is the Christian Dem0cratic party, a conservative minded govt with religion, oh joy of joys

Here's to the all traitorous fellow minded folks who voted NO on this proposition...

May your buds mold to black goo, may spider mites infest your garden, may Aphrodite herself come down and turn all your plants to herms!

A YES vote on this measure means: Individuals age 21 or older could, under state law, possess and cultivate limited amounts of marijuana for personal use. In addition, the state and local governments could authorize, regulate, and tax commercial marijuana-related activitites under certain conditions. These activities would remain illegal under federal law.

NO A NO vote on this measure means: The possession and cultivation of marijuana for personal use and commercial marijuana-related activities would remain illegal under state law, unless allowed under the state's existing medical marijuana law.

Can someone please explain to me why they voted no?

Some people do it for the $$. The writing is on the wall. MJ will continue to be a great hobby, and for some a profession. But the days of growers charging mega bucks for a plant (because of its legal status) could well be numbered in Calif.

And I say good riddance.

I voted YES!
