typical cheap ass though..during the campaign his wife said when they leave home he turns down the hot water heater and when they come back he has been know to comment that cold showers are a good thing..who the fuck turns down the WATER HEATER?
I know right?

Reminds me of Sam Walton and his truck though. Don't stay rich by wasting money, but damn. How much can that actually save him? A few bucks a month?

First of all, your effective rate on federal taxes (which is where the money will come from to fund ACA) is not even close to 15%.
Be that as it may, the taxes you and I paid years ago or even last year, is already allocated or spent.
And I am not saying you do not deserve an opinion, go back and read my comment you quoted, you rarely voice your opinion Schuylarr, you make demands and become indignant if we disagree.
not to bring old stuff up, calling me names was not the way to win friends or influence people..demands? link, please?

I agree that the rich should pay more....but before you people rag on Romney, I believe Obama took every tax loophole he could when they filed the last five years. He paid nowhere near 35%

He paid something like 11%. Anyone with a couple grand can afford a lawyer that will help you avoid almost all taxes. Spend about 5k, and you'll end up paying about the same as Mitt, and Barry Obams.

I think it depends what people consider rich.
But the vast majority of people that make over $250k do pay more, whether it's the amount they pay or the rate.

Not really Pinworm, guys like Romney make their money from investments and they are taxed at a different rate than wages.
And to be honest, just about everyone I know, rich and not so rich, do their best to pay less in taxes.

Mitt Romney offered a partial snapshot of his vast personal fortune late Monday, disclosing income of $21.7 million in 2010 and $20.9 million last year — virtually all of it profits, dividends or interest from investments.

The couple gave away $7 million in charitable contributions over the past two years, including at least $4.1 million to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Romney’s family has for generations been among the Mormon Church’s most prominent members.
The Romneys sent somewhat less to Washington over that period, paying an estimated $6.2 million in federal income taxes. According to his 2010 return, Romney paid about $3 million to the IRS, for an effective tax rate of 13.9 percent.

For 2011, Romney estimates that he will pay about $3.2 million, for an effective rate of 15.4 percent.

this is where i have issue..just because i am no longer making six figures doesn't mean i haven't paid my share in the past..does that preclude me from opinion now because my effective is 15% on the 7k unemployment i received in 2013?
Hey Schuylarr, no mention of that standard deduction you took that gave you FREE money back from the government, and did you calculate that in with your effective rate?

lots of wealthy people are like this..have you ever read "the millionaire next door"?
I'm very much like that. How do you think some people got financially secure, ahead of others? It's by being frugal, investing, saving. There's a concept missing with many in our society and it's quite evident here. The concept which must be carried out to get ahead is called "deferred gratification". Plan for tomorrow and today will always treat you right. Set yourself for failure and you only have yourself to blame. Give 'me two nickels, they'll rub 'em together and they'll disappear.

Heck, I'll spend 2 hours on the internet to save $5 for some gadget. I've been saving and investing for over 30 years too and consider myself quite well off. I waited for months and spent a hundred hours of research to get my recent HT purchase - an OPPO 103 player/media center. Glad I did...this reference player is unbelievable.

Bush? You did mean to say thank you Obama, eh? The REAL unemployment rate is something like 33%. Folks have dropped out of the market, gave up, quit looking so they're not counted any more. If you want to believe the numbers coming out of this crooked ad-menstruation then you have at it.
