I have a 2005 Dodge One ton w/ a 48RE transmission that no longer shifts to 4th.
It happened on way to LA, I was passing (aggressively) it downshifted never to return to 4th,
I stopped at the dealer to have them take a look at it,they changed filter, speed sensor, ect. with no luck.

So can anybody recommend an aftermarket transmission source ? I really don't want a used one, as I already have one. lol.

depends on the vehicle really something like a range rover defender you could tow a fucking jumbo jet with n it wont complain whereas something like a honda or something would probably brake if you even went slightly over the limits

Also are you towing the car or putting it on a trailer? if a trailer then you will need to factor in the extra weight of the trailer as well

yeah, they got around! Haha there was a couple of caveliers modeled off the old commy! That one you posted was modeled of of the model before mine the VH. The VH had chrome grille and chrome bumpers instead of the black plastic ones.. What engine did they come out with? Starfire 4cyl or a blue 202 6cyl? Or did vauxhaul put there own engines in?

haha yeah, a mate of mine has a turbo VK calais (calais were, the luxury model.. electric windows, electric dash, better interior and they brought them out as an efi not carby fed) it was running a rb25det though.. The black 202 (which was what they came out with, or a 253 or 308 v8) weren't the greatest to turbs, back in the day people laughed at turbos over here, you either worked the fuck outa the 202 (which would blow v8's away, the 202's are you heck of a 6) or you had a v8.. The fuel rail doesn't fit bugger injectors, you could mod the throttle body but once you run higher psi the injectors would fail so its pointless really.. The money you'd spend making it worth running decent psi you may aswell put a rb30/25det, rb25det or a 1 or 2jz then go from there.. Good car as a starting point, you can drop anything from a tiny 4cyl to jap motors to a 355 big block with no dramas, just different engine mounts obviously hahah

engines over here were 1.6, 1.8 n 2.0L all inline 4 cylinder an they also did a very limited run if 1.3`s and an even tinier run (less than 200 i think) with a V6 but cant remember the displacement, think it was either 2.4 or 3.0L

ill have to do some research on this but i reacon vauxhaul would have put there own engines in, i reacon emissions guidlines would be different in UK and wouldn't have,to freight them over.. Holden made a 1.9L 'starfire' which was the only 4cyl they made.. The inline six's though were a different story though, there were alot of variants made of them, all different sizes and 202 was the biggest at 3.3L, they did make a 186 (3L) and a 149 (2.4L) in the inline six's, the 186's made it into a few countries wouldn't surprise me,if it made it over there.. Do you remember what color the engine block was by any chance?

they were all just plain metal, car manufacturers over here dont ever seem to have bother painting blocks, very rare you see a car over here with a coloured engine unless the owner has dont it themselves, only real exception to this was anything tuned by Lotus normally had a red rocker cover n the cyl head was normally black on a normal metal colour block

yeah i thought so, don't see to much extra work on mass produced (so to speak) cars, Holden probably didn't have the demand that some of the euro companies did to have cars off the line and had the time to do the smaller things like that.. Then again if you had a black, a red and a blue 202 with no color next to each other you wouldn't tell the difference so they had to do something quick and easy to tell the difference.. Euro cars are a different bunch all together though haha

anyone wanna buy a nice, some what lightly used, porsche 911 gt3?? never mind the slight fire damage..
damn, so porsche has recalled everyone of the 765 911 gt3s made for fire risk, and each car will be given a new engine.. not a cheap fix to say the least, story here..

yeah, i know, that's a lot of old 911 engines sitting around with no homes.. :D

i'm not sure how a company would handle a situation like this, i mean, would they really risk selling them off to the public knowing that there's a fire hazard with them already? i can't imagine them doing so..

i saw jeremy clarkson talking shit about richard hammond on top gear the other day about his porsche catching on fire, but i thought he was just busting his balls as jeremy tends to call porsches volkwagens, and not in a good way, lol, but damn, i didn't realize it was anything this serious for sure..

that's my thinking at least, as i can't really imagine them doing much else with them, unless maybe they'll fit the new part and sell them off after wards in an attempt to get some cash back, but idk how a major recall like this works tbh.. i could see some potential law suits if they handled it the wrong way..

and yah, you know most of these engines are low mileage as it's only the '14 models that are effected as far as i know, and i'd think most people who have gt3's don't use them as a daily driver..
