Not much of a custom spectrum and layout...is it...?

Oh dear...stinkz of re-branded to me....

Icemud....tell the owner he is full of crap from me... :)

Actually if you look at the two images..the layout looks the same, the spectrometer readings and chart are different, as well as the draw.

Look at the blue peaks, and the IR peaks, different spectoral readings...

Thank you for posting that though, you exactly proved my point, same structure, same look, different diodes, internals and other changes. Not just slapping a Logo on it.. now you are starting to see I hope.

Hahaha...Dont worry about that...there are BML reps here... ;)

Are you saying just because I got a light on extended loan from BML, and just because it works really really well, and just because I report on it in this thread with the subject "If you are new to led and want help choosing what to buy" that I am a rep?

Do you actually think before writing such crap?

Oh, hello again! Are you guys still bickering at each other? Wow. We're all here because we like to grow weed….right? I never met a neighbor, while working in my garden, who ever came up to start bickering about my style. I find that my fellow vegetable gardeners tend to be really happy, helpful types of people who love to share their cucumber seeds or bring a bowl or cherries or a peach…something…ya know?

So, anyway….

My Cree bulb Home Depot fixture that I made myself for under $50.00 is working beautifully! I used the 9.5 watt bulbs (2 warm white and 2 daylight) in a 4-bulb cluster. As a reflector, I located a steel utility drip pan, drilled a hole in the center of it, inverted it and used a couple twist connectors and electrician's tape to connect the cord….a few pieces of chain to hang it and voila! It looks kinda like a UFO! Yes, it's pretty low wattage and small-time….but that's what I needed. I'm a small-time grower ….at this point! :)

And I'm really happy with my A51 fixture, too. I still am about 30 days away from harvest, but I think I might make a pretty good yield from just my one Vortex plant. At 30 days into flower, she smells like a bunch of cooked cauliflower! -kind of a funky, rotten smell, actually -I'm loving it! So, I'll definitely be giving my own final report about the light's performance after everything is done. I'll tell you this much…When I was looking for a light, I really wanted to get the Apache Tech AT120….but it was close to $900! The A51 looked to me like it employed a similar color-scheme and I thought it was a little bit more powerful, so I went with the SGS, instead of the Apache Tech.

And now Apache Tech has the AT200…and I'm really tempted to create a budget for one of the all-white versions. But, then, again, I see that A51 is now taking pre-orders on the XGS 190s at a reduced price…..Decisions, Decisions!

:)

Hi,
Noob here, seriously considering this unit: (5watt LEDs / 307 watt total consumption)
http://www.ebay.com/itm/VIPAR-500W-LED-Grow-Light-Hydroponic-5W-Indoor-Plant-Growth-Veg-Flowering-Lamp-/121271694256 . eBay history shows it has sold for as low as US$207.50

◇ Real Power Consumption: 307W ± 3% @ 110V; 300W ± 3% @ 220V
◇ LED Quantitites: 96pcs X 5W (Epileds)
◇ Dimensions: 21.65x10x1.97"
◇ Coverage Area: 4' x 2' ( 8 Square Feet )
◇ Spectrum: Red( 620-630nm / 650-660nm ), Blue( 430-440nm / 450-460nm ) & White( 6000-9000K )

my space is 39" x 22"

I was able to pull 4oz from 4 plants using their 3W (200 watt actual) version (http://www.ebay.com/itm/VIPAR-400W-LED-Grow-Light-Indoor-Hydroponic-Veg-Flower-Spectrum-Plant-Panel-Lamp-/111195105689) and am generally happy. The issue is while the top of the colas and branches did well, a few inches down, the hairs were all still white when the tops were done. I'm thinking the 3w can't punch through the canopy. Please educate me.

Has anyone any real experience with the "ViPAR C500"?

Wondering if I should just keep the 3W unit but add side lighting instead.

If I could sell the 3W LED 200W total version for $120 or so, I could swing this upgrade for < $100. Area51 and SolorStorms are out of my price range.

Thanks~

Bonehead, as a former Vipar owner, I'm going to give you some food for thought.
Vipar is a UK founded company,
http://www.viparled.co.uk/collections/series-b-1
that is a basically a reseller of this company's wares.
http://evergrowlighting.com/product.asp?id=58&class=NOVA LED Grow Lights
Vipar UK sell 2 models and that's it.
VIPARLED-USA is a Ebay reseller, whose connection to VIPAR UK and Evergrow are vague. Maybe Vipar UK would like to say something here? Anyway if one was to look at what ViparUS is selling they don't seem to be selling any models related to the production models coming out of Evergrow, who happen to be a good budget panel maker and who make production parts and/or done some work for other makers including at one time or another A51. Now VIPAR-USA looks more like LG stuff to me, but could be anyone. I just really doubt it's coming from the Evergrow factory and if you really want to be sure your getting some kind of value, you should find out a bit more about ViparUS. Having said all that, you might as well try to talk to Evergrow and get it from them directly. Alibaba perhaps?

Just remember, the extra money you'll spend on electricity running that panel is going to pay for the A51, which will be cheaper to run in the long run, so do your best to get some more cash and grab an A51, which is a purchase you'll be happier about. Plus you can sell an A51 a lot easier than selling some mystery budget panel if ya need to.

And that Vipar panel will not flower weed in a 4x2 IMO. No way.

Good Luck Bone and Be Safe.

First timer here and debating putting a 3x3 gorilla tent in a second bedroom and moving 4 of my girls in soil from patio to Gorilla.. Looking at 2 options for LED, a Solarflare 220 full cycle or an Area 51 190.. Any suggestions or comments?

Stay away from the Solarflare if heat is an issue, but if it's at a great price that's another story. How tall do you want your plants? I ask cause you may need more than a 190 if your trying to grow trees indoors.

Im experimenting with a panel from vipar usa right now. Its 5w x 60, so 300 watts but its pull at the wall is around 200. I have it next to a ti smartlamp probloom 600 that has 150 x 3w diodes actual pull is 330w. And the 5 watt diodes with lenses are definitely brighter than the 3s without them. The plant under the vipar looks super happy so far, ill post pics when the lights come on of the plant.

Well, since it is my first time and they are in 4 gallon pots, I am not looking to get em crazy. Really just whatever they will grow.. They haven't grown very tall at all since I started em last week of March. What are your Thoughts?

Bay Area does not get very hot. Possibility of fire is an issue and that is why I chose LED. The price I found is around 437$ for solar flare and 525$ for Area 51. I earn a good living so paying money for a good and reliable product is ok.

Well they're in 4 gallon pots so they can only get so big. The panels you mentioned max out at about 2 to 3 feet of effective growth vertically, depending on strain and other factors of course, but that should be OK for you. Good venting will take care of any problems with the SFlare giving off heat but I'm a bit more partial to A51 since I've seen some very good grows using them and their diodes are more efficient than the SolarFlare's and A51 is more designed for growing weed than a SolarFlare IMHO. You should just check out the grows of people using them and see what you like. This is a very pro A51 forum so you're going to get a lot of pro A51 answers around here.
