Advanced LED DS XML 350 Question

I've been researching as much as possible into premade LED offerings lately and I've narrowed the choice down to very few options that seem to be both high quality AND within my financial reach, but my question regarding Advanced LED's Diamond Series XML350 is, is it really effective over a 4ft x 4ft core area, as its makers claim? If so, I'd say that it probably edges ahead of the other options I have in mind in terms of value for money. I know the DIY route has to be the best value choice cost-wise, but I simply don't have the knowledge, skills, time or desire to build my own panel. Perhaps someone here who has tested or owns an XML350 would be kind enough to answer my question please..?

Not seen one of them for yeeaars! Yugo nowhere. Yugo but the car doesn't. Something like that? If you could find one of those today, it might have collectability value!

Thanks Yodaweed! I know the Apache Tech's are considered the best. I would spring for 2 x AT600's if I could, but that would mean almost my entire setup budget on lighting. I may end up scaling back my initial plans and going for just 1 of those and half the grow area, with a view to saving for a 2nd later on. The other main contenders I've been considering are the A51 brand and the Budmaster II line. They work out similar in terms of cost, so a lot more viable for my pocket than the Apache Tech option if I want to get fully up and running for my 1st grow. 3 factors making me lean toward Advanced were:

1. Core coverage claims - cost (1 unit per 4x4 would work out cheaper if genuinely the case)
2. Core coverage claims - wiring/convenience (I felt that having to wire up 6 units instead of potentially only 2, was unnecessarily messy and I do tend to be a bit messy at times, so a bonus for me)
3. Customer service - There's a phone number on the site, unlike A51, and when you call it, you speak to a friendly, helpful person and that inspires great confidence in me that if there's any after sale issue, I won't be pulling my hair out trying to resolve it!

However, in light of initial responses to this thread (for which I'm grateful), It looks like I def' have to reconsider. If anyone uses the XML series and can disprove the above posts, or has any comments (for or against), I'd love to hear them!

In that case, SORRY Greengenes!!!

I assumed that the XML models were newer, because it's their only model incorporating 10W diodes but also and mainly due to how they're presented on the site!!! My mistake! I'll wear egg on my face for the rest of the evening! :grin:

Not given them much thought. Might be a great light, but at a price-point of over $2k per 4 x 4, i's not really within my means, or I'd probably be jumping on the AT600.

At this stage, I'm even thinking of trying 2 or 3 different units to spread the risk and give myself a chance to repeat order the one that works best!!! Is that as nuts as it seems to me???

I dunno exactly yet of course, but maybe products from Apache (AT200), Area 51 (XGS190) and something from Advanced (maybe the XTE300 or the XML350). Then after a couple of runs using them, pick up a repeat order of the 1 I like the best to properly fill the remaining space.

I'm waiting on a response from Apache Tech about the coverage of the AT200 units to see whether I feel it would be worth the $1100.

Alternatively, I guess I could just start out with 1 x AT600 and wait until I can afford a 2nd some time down the road. But as that would mean using less than half my space, I'm not keen.

I have a while to think about it and there's no rush yet. Hearing from you guys who've used the units is a HUUUGE privilege and help and will def' influence my choices when the time comes.

I'll be watching Icemud's test grow on a neighbouring forum with great interest to see how these XTE300lights perform and what he has to say about them. It's so voyeuristic watching other peoples' grow videos and journals. Didn't think I'd get so into it, but it's great entertainment!

I know we should be careful who we listen to and that independent testers/reviewers with less vested interests are more credible, but for noobs like me, I thought this vid' was really interesting..

AT200's aren't really worth it IMO...for the price of 2, you can get an at600(4 200's in one). The at200 is for a 3x2. An a51 I'd the same pretty much and cheaper. But the AT600 is worth it...great bang for the buck to get an Apache.
But as you said...top of the budget is hard to commit/take the leap.

I looked at my XML 150 running by itself and it seems to cover nearly 2' x 2' so I can't see why the 350 wouldn't do a 3' x 3' space.

330/9 = 36.6666666667 watts per sq. ft. which is right around where they say you want to be.

@JRayV, are you happy with all aspects of the 150? Have you had it for long enough to form an opinion on it?

I run a diamond series 100w (dont laugh :( ) from seed to finish, and it produced pretty well. Im still very noob, but my first harvest was around 60g dried from one plant with some LST. Looking at upgrading my lights, will be using Advanced.
