First BHO attempts. WTF did I make?

This is my first two attempts at making bho but WTF did I make? These are two different batches but why were they so different? Was it just because of the product age? Both were vac purged and the temperatures were similar . I thought I made both the same way but...

This was my first batch. I used older nugs around 6 months old. It is hard and breaks at refrigerator temps. At room temperature I can work it with my fingers and stretch it like taffy.


I made this batch the same way as the first one but I used nugs that I recently harvested. It is not gooey or sticky at all even at warmer temperatures. It just crumbles but it is definitely my favorite. Is this wax?

Thanks. I'm learning. It is bho. First pic was made with older weed. The 2nd made with fresh weed is definitely better, crumbly like hash. I run butane through bud, OUTDOORS, into a dish sitting in 120 deg water. Purge in dish until it stops bubbling. Scrap up and put in a vacuum chamber at 120 deg or so to purge the rest of the butane. I have been reading that the outcome depends on the temperature used, age of bud, length of time under vacuum, etc... The 2nd pic is wax, I think. I had the temp a little higher on it than the first batch. I read a lot of people don't like it because it doesn't store for very long and it is hard to dab. Too bad cause I made it with the intention of storage.

Try reducing the temp of your dish to 110F and see what happens.

Like I said you need a vacuum. IE a vacuum oven. Your water bath does nothing. You won't remove any solvents without a vacuum oven. You need a proper purge. If you want to smoke dirty bho by all means have fun adding crystallized deposits in your lungs causing pulmonary fibrosis. Dirty bho is very harmful

To make quality bho. First get high quality butane by the gallon. Lab grade. Never but it by the can.

Distill the butane.

Blast butane through a closed loop system.

After everything. Then purge in a vacuum oven for about 3-5 days to remove all solvents. To get it down to 0 ppm's.

A closed loop system, a distiller and a vacuum oven are a must have for making bho. If you don't have those or can't afford it.

Then make rosin or ice wax.

And I won't touch your bs. I read some the posts you made in other threads hyroot and I just can't image you demanding to see see the test results before using any weed, hash or edibles. Nobody is arguing with you here though so please go troll someplace else.

What I'm telling you will help you make a better product. Bho requires a lab environment with high end equipment and a basic knowledge of chemistry. If you can't do that then have an extract maker do it for you who can.

You need to understand there's too many people in this industry that make half ass garbage like this. It makes the rest of us look bad. All the extract companies in Co tat were shut down were done so for making dirty extracts. And they have had to make recalls too. This is a huge part of why we have such fucked up regulations that keep our hands tied. When we just had medical it was a lot easier.

. I will only touch bho made from 3 other different people. They always get their stuff tested and show me the tests and they have proper equipment and facilities. I prefer ice wax or dry sift anyway


Go make ice wax or rosin pr dry sift instead. It's far safer, cleaner and better anyway. Far less overhead.
