No that's too sketchy bro, I'll try and find the site that sent me mine awhile back, just so you know I haven't gotten around to growing them so I'm not even certain they're legit

Nah I honestly can't remember which site it was I'm thinking it was Vancouver seed bank
I was just looking for spore syringes this morning. The wife wants to try micro-dosing. I searched here and did some research on Vancouver Seed Bank after your mention, and went ahead and ordered a syringe from them.

This'll be my first time growing magic mushrooms.

what kind of prints are you looking for? I may know someone that can help
I ordered Koh Samui, which was the only one Vancouver Seed Bank had in stock. Will arrive today. I've done my research, and am about to go on my way to pick up the last couple of things I need to get it going tonight.

I've also done my research as to how to make my own spore syringes. Being a cannabis breeder, taking spores from a shroom seems to be an extremely simple exercise.

Just need to be extra vigilant with cleanliness only apparently.

Nice choice on the Koh Samoi they are great mushrooms. I’ve ran them several times now. Cleanliness is definitely super key with mushrooms. You want a clean work space with all your equipment sterilized or as close as possible, especially when doing spore work. You should look into a flow hood or glove box if you want to get serious about the myco hobby.

Thanks for the tips! I honestly don't know how far this will go. This is all for the wife. If she's happy and wants to continue, then I will definitely expand as you say with better equipment that makes things easier, just like I have over several years with cannabis.

...and yep, just like with cannabis, the wife will eventually start getting her hands dirty (so to speak) with the mushrooms.

Good Vibes on your adventure!

you picked a great one always enjoyed KSS
Thanks! Went to get the syringe from the post, and put it into the fridge for the night.

I turned a spare bedroom closet into my mushroom incubation and grow room. Stablized the temperature to 25C with a portable electric heater which runs about five minutes each hour. Got everything all lined up on the kitchen counter, and am ready to make my mix and inoculate first thing tomorrow morning.

whats your plan of action? grain? brf?
I will use 250mL wide-mouth Mason jars, which will hold a mixture of vermiculite and brown rice flour with distilled water.

My syringe is 10cc, and I'll use 1cc per jar.

I'm pretty much following the PF Tek method for my first attempt.

Understood. I personally love my bulk grains. But I to started with BRF.
Yep. Coco coir and birdseed worked better than pftek.

Make a glove box out of a big clear Rubbermaid.

The hardest part is usually isolating a clean culture from those (dirty) spores.

When I go to steam sterilize my mixture in the jars, it's advised to put masking tape over the holes in the jar lids to prevent moisture from entering.

After the sterilization, should I remove the tape before putting them into the incubation chamber, or leave the tape in place?

Note that I'll be putting tinfoil over the lids during sterilization.

I’ve never seen masking tape used. I’ve always used multipore medical tape. It’s designed to be breathable in one direction. You can get it at a pharmacy. And yes you leave it on after so contams don’t enter the hole in the lid.

Steam sterilize? You mean pressure cook I’m hoping?

Tyvek. From purilator/fedex (can’t remember but got them at post office). The envelopes are made from tyvek. Cut out a square. Put that over your hole in lid. Get that red valve seal. Put a glob on tyvek over hole.

Let dry. Now you have self sealing injection port for spores. Wipe with alcohol before injecting.

Btw. Your goal should be a clean jar full of mycelium. Whited out.
Once you get a clean jar you’re golden.
Take this jar into your glove box and break out a chunk of mycelium from each into a new sterilized jar out moist birdseed.
Wait.
Now you have as many jars as you want with clean mycelium to through into Rubbermaid tubs full of coco and seed.

One jar is all you need. Once you have that you can take that a make as many as you want.

Eventually you’ll want to make live culture syringes.

Have fun.
