DIY with Quantum Boards

Friday night at the barber ..... Plants getting their hair “ did “.

Quantum QB304 3500k / Citizen Cob 3500k

Normally I resist Defol on my plants - preferring leaf tucking and such , but it’s always dependent on its structure.
But tonight I was re-doing the LST tiedown points and decided to CLEAN THEM UP.
Pinching the really small inner growth and lower fans. This strain has been stout and compliant with my handling so far , so why not ???

The Strawberry Diesel that was bagged up a little while back are really accelerating and they ( 2 ) got topped . The younger KKP got fimmed instead. Minor clean up and flexing the lower branches to spread out.

All are still on water / top feed FFOF / EB Stone mix .... Tomorrow all will get a myco ( great white ) watering to keep the microbe world charged up. Still green after 4 weeks , so it’s doing fine without extra shit. I will be very interested in seeing the rootball when it’s all said and done.

I will probably flip these in about 2 weeks ( give or take ) and leave the younger three vegging
as they grow out like these did . Not bad for 1 gallon bags.

Order all singles. THis way you can space everything accordingly. If you change footprint you can rework the design. I like 3 boards in a row x 2. lean into and out of the canopy. THis would be similiar to that triple fixture I have. Rspec in the middle and 3000-4000 k on the ends ( depending on your preference ). I'm sure however you do this, it will rock. I really like the 6 boards for a 4x4. Better control as you can run the lights easier and still have lots of output. 100 watts each gives you 37.5 watts per sq ft. Great numbers. 120 w each 45 w per sq ft ( crushing it...). hell ya..

Yeah,go hard or go home!!! Im going with 4 304s and a 240w rspec diy kit in the middle in my 48x48x80... Im going with six for a good even number...

1) How does the 288 V2 Rspec board being rated at slightly higher voltage than previous V2 translate to driver choices when building two-board fixtures? Instead of the 240h-c2100, or the 240h-54, could you safely run two Rspecs on a 240h-c2800? Or what about a 320h-c2100?

2) Part of the reason for the first question; how does a "260w Rspec kit/fixture" (that uses a 240h-c2100) compare to a QB Elite 360 / Pair of QB96s using the 'stock' 320w CC driver.

I'm thinking the pair of QB96's have more potential, but ran at "recommended" levels I wonder how they compare (ppfd etc). The spectrum on the Rspec looks nice, more "full" blues. The Rspecs spectrum *appears* to be a slight "improvement" (or at least increase) in a couple of wavelength areas...?

Thanks for any input.

I stripped a dimming screw on one of my drivers, whats the best or easiest fix?
I was thinking an Easy-Out but then not sure how i'm gonna turn it back up..
Any Ideas?

Did you strip it, or did it come out/unthread or something?

I'm not really sure, tried spinning it either way and cant get the light to dim down :( Its a type A driver
240H C2100a
Can you look in the hole with a light/flashlight while putting your mini screwdriver in there to make sure it's in right and that it's (attempting to) turning the screw. I know this sounds obvious but not sure what you've checked yet. I haven't run into this, but I'd think that *maybe* you'd see if the screw/pot of off kilter or on an angle if the threads have come out a bit?

So I got a 3x3x6 foot tent. After much research on here and grasscity, I decided to buy two of the QB288 Rspec single boards with the slate 2's so I can space them out and turn them sideways instead of the double long ways with the prebuilt 260w kit..
I also decided to go with an HLG-320H-54A to power them since each board rated max is 3A and the driver is good for 5.95A. I home-run'd the boards back to the driver with some triple wago's in parallel. This thing (with a kill-a-watt) will pull around 374 watts with the IO pot maxed out..

I did mount the driver outside of the tent on my wall, and wired up a couple 120mm fans to go above each slate2 to keep the lights cool. I also mounted the boards to the slates with some Gelid Extreme thermal paste and that dropped the board temps a good 10 degrees easy. Running the lights at maximum, I can keep the tent anywhere from 75F-85F with my fan running. So far leaning towards the 85 degrees from what I've been reading on VPD and these led's and such..

Think I'm good with this setup for 1-2 plants in a 3x3 or should I add two boards or something and just run them at a lower wattage?

Sounds like your setup great ,2 plants and that much light will work great.... I run 84-88f but thats dwc, if your plants are thriving they seem to handle/love the higher temps better... most people do 82-84f

You'll prob want to dim those lights or have them high tell about the start of flower, as thats a lot of light for a young plant

Great! Thanks for the quick reply ^^
I'm doing DWC as well so will keep those temps in mind. For now I have the light at the top of the tent as high as I can go and turned down the IO pot all the way. Kill-a-watt says I'm at 124watts and still getting around 10k lux at the top of the tote. According to the lux conversion chart from HLG I'm around 150 par.. hoping that's not too strong for seedlings, still waiting on germination at the moment..
