I’m trying to decide on my best option. I have access to a nug smasher and a set of bubble bags. What are your thoughts?

You know what. I tried squishing trim in some bags, the old 3x6 bags that Levi at lowtemp used to have, and basically, i didn’t think it was worth it compared to Just making bubble and then squishing it.

I squish nugrun in his new 220u 3.2X7 bags with 30g’s of untrimmed smalls and works great. I rock korlor420 bags when squishing bubble. Which I think comes out better than making dry ice kief and squishing.

Rosin pressing would require you to do an extraction first, pressing the trim won't give you good results.

I've done pressing and bubble bags but recently I bought a dry sift tumbler and it's easier and gives a beautiful product. It may not be quite as efficient as bubble bags but it's a lot easier.

Check it out in post 17 of this thread:

Dry ice is the best. Just add it to any bowl, joint, bong, vape, and enjoy.
I second this, you'll get double the yield doing dry ice sift with a 220micron bubble bag compared to making bubble hash, with waaaaay less effort involved. Then just press the dry sift for all that sweet sweet glorious rosin. or don't and just smoke it. Either way, that's the only thing I'm doing with my trim unless I wanna make budder.

Edit: Dry ice can usually be found at your local grocery store, the one near me sells it at $2/lb and you only need like 3 lbs dry ice per two ounces of trim.

Pro tip- and just the tip. At least until the swelling goes down.

Find a place that sells dry ice pellets. They are so much easier to work with and the grow shop i found that sells it in pellet form is only 70 cents a pound.

Since you have access to bubble bags and press id just use the 220 bubble bag to dry sift through then the 190 bag to clean it up. Then squish the dry sift in 37u rosin bag.

DO NOT make rosin with trim! It makes the lowest grade rosin.

I run everything through my 151u toms tumbler screen. Works perfect for me. Super easy.

Super good idea!! I'll have to check around and see if anyone has this. Only one grocery store in my town sells dry ice at all and it comes in thick sheets, definitely need a hammer or something. Didn't even know these pellets were at thing!

Eh, the rosin still comes out fire though. Much better than a bunch of trim sitting around.. although I guess you could just keep it as hash/dry sift. I just pressed all mine. Its dark but tasty and lit af.

I honestly stumbled upon them at a grow shop i dont go to very often. Got lucky.

You can't really expect to press trim. You can wash the trim with bubble bags into hash and expect a 4-8% return of WET weight (just multiply your dry weight by 5). This should give you a nice hash yield. You can then have the option to turn that hash into rosin at around a 50% return weight.

What I would give to have access to that. I have to get my dry ice by doing a back door deal at the local grocery store after the boys have off loaded freight.
(get yer heads outta the gutter you pervy pervs :bigjoint:)

This is what I get once a week in exchange for some bud or extracts. I have to bash it up in a towel with hammer and its a total pain in the ass.

In my original post in this thread I kinda made it sound like i don’t do dry ice kief, but I did, like ALLOT. I just find that squishing bubble comes out better than dry ice kief. Squishing dry sift better than squishing dry ice kief too.

Anyways, i went through shitloads of dry ice from the grocery store/s. Coming up with lame excuses to the cashiers why I would be picking up so much of it and so often LMAO. Def don’t miss that lol.
I have quite a few 50lb CO2 bottles that survived that I could possibly exchange for ones with siphon tubes and make my own dry ice, but not sure if it’s worth the effort.

Still not sure if I’ll replace the extraction contraption I lost in the fire. I will if I decide to make distillate again. That’s where that thing shines if you ask me. Was a great way to strip off the goods to start the process for making distillate, but like I had said, i Think the quality of rosin it squishes is not as good as from bubble, or from dry sift.

Not to hijack the OPs thread but what do you use for a press? I've had the NugSmasher in my cart for months and cant bring myself to pull the trigger. Its only a 2 ton and I feel like I'd outgrow it soon. Same thing happened when I started making BHO. I invested in a unit that could process around a 1/4 to 1/2 lb for around $450 only to upgrade to a closed loop that could do a full pound a month later.

I know you lost everything in that fire, but you're making a strong comeback. When I see your posts I'm always amazed at the progress you've made in such a short time.

Thank you so much, you’re awesome:hug:
I’m currently using my daughters boyfriend’s old Sasquash V1 press. The thing is a beast, but only has the bottom plate heated which is weird, and no pressure gauge :-( but it works. I feel like Stevie Wonder using it Versus my old setup. I had that shit down by timing the squishes at different pressures before.

I had a 20ton shop press with plates from LowTemp. I’ll probably go the same route as before when I do buy a new setup. I could actually use a shop press in my new shop :-)
