Why are Democratic mayors/governors allowing the violence against peaceful protestors from the police?

This is the sort of 'leadership' you end up with when you don't care about anything but the 'D' in front of their name

Mayor of Buffalo called that 75 year old man who cops pushed down and started bleeding out of his head an "agitator" and tried to justify the police actions (both cops are being charged with felony assault). Shouldn't a Democratic mayor in a Democratic state side with the protestors over the police, especially when the assault was caught on video and the evidence is clear?

I have a lot of respect for most police officers. Yes there are some bad ones, but there are always gonna be a few bad apples. I'm appalled at what happened, but at the same time I don't wanna demonize all police. Most are here to help us.

If you get rid of the cops, I'll just be my own police force. I really don't think you guys want to put us back in Wild West times, but some of you guys are loosing your minds so it's hard to be shocked anymore.

Thats a fucking joke. In 2018, there were 686,665 full-time law enforcement officers employed in the United States. That comes out to $437 per officer. You really think a few hundred dollars worth of training is going to make a fucking difference?

Remember the Andy Griffith Show? One of the biggest points of that show was that if everyone treats each other with respect and decency, there is no need for police and their job is essentially a joke. Act like animals, treat each other like animals, get treated like animals. Change starts with people, not the government. Violence begets violence.

To take it a step farther, that means they might get one day of training because the officers will be paid for that day. So figure about 300$ of it goes to paying the officer for their time. That leaves about a hundred bucks worth of "training material." So some handouts, a powerpoint, and a couple short videos. Yeah. Thats going to fix everything.
