Hi guys,

so my wife and i have found ourselves in a situation. We will be quitting our jobs at the end of fall, moving to maine, and growing marijuana fulltime legally next year. what an awesome situation.

we dont want to waste any time with bad genetics, easily avoided mistakes, ect.

So for all you maine growers out there, whats up? what strains finish in time up there? i know it can be wet and cold early. looking to start early indoors and grow some rows of trees outside. We will be allowed up to 36 plants. along with the trees, we are going to do a couple patches of autos off of our property.

anyone recommend some in stock autos to give a go indoors while we wait?

ive been wanting to try mephisito and wicked pissah but kinda pricey and hard to find.

another question while im here, has anyone ordered bulk seed packs from truenorth? they have feminized packs of 100 for about 400 bucks. seems like its there own genetics...curious before i pull the trigger.

Well that sounds exciting. Pulling up stakes and heading to New England, eh? You in California?

I'm just finishing my first year growing ever, so not exactly a fount of knowledge yet. But shaping up to be a pretty successful season--did all outdoor plants organically and they thrived. The last 2 are finishing up as we speak. I'm about 5 miles from the coast in Knox County. Where you guys headed?

I got all my seeds from Greenpoint in Colorado. Turns out they are a bit late-finishing typically for this climate, but I seem to have managed OK with minimal rot.

There are other Mainers on the forum here that can chime in with some early-finishing strains. I think in general indicas are safer as they often finish quicker. Some of the sativas from Greenpoint are taking wicked long.

Some of the local seed banks here specialize in early-finishers. Be good to make some phone calls at least.

Good luck the market is flooded with med weed now that rec stores are rolling no more need for a card. The gray market is flowing if you know the locals. what part of the state you headed to much of the state is a waste of time growing outdoor.

Guy who opened up a rec. shop in a nearby town says supply this year is short in the rec. market here but thinks it'll catch up soon. Not what you're seeing?

Definitely now that people are starting to harvest. I imagine it's going to be a shitshow rushing everything to market if it's short like you've heard. If the rec market is going to be level to the med quality I've seen, black/gray market won't have too much to worry about. Probably a drop in price tho.

What's the market like for primo-quality organically-grown outdoor?

morning all.

im not particularry worried about the state flooded with weed. more so worried about picking the right strains that will produce quality buds in this area outside. ill be in the south western part of the state.

i met 2 growers up there so far. one last week while visiting. he had a good run last year of 64 pounds off 30 plants but the quality was not there.the other guy has an indoor garden with some great product.

im looking at some heavy hitting indicas right now. still looking at a bulk autoflower run aswell. i get stressed out picking strains.

I grew the Tomahawk strain this year, indica-dominant cross between Stardawg and Gorilla Glue #4, supposedly tests as high as 30% THC. No rot whatsoever, finished on 10/12. Of the 5 strains I tried Tomahawk seemed like the fussiest in terms of care but it did just fine and produced some fine buds. You could probably find some earlier-finishing strains though. Would be ideal to harvest at the end of September growing outdoor here.

I've been to one shop a few times a couple of years ago. Trash. Soft bud that was either that seemed uncured or even dried fully with ZERO terps.

Im not sure of the current prices but any outdoor around here I feel is going to be really hard to move at any profitable price. I knew a guy who was growing for dispensaries towards Saco that was getting 800/lb. This was probably 5 years ago.

yeah lots of indicas im researching this morning.
ill look into the tomahawk. did you trim already? can you pm a pic of what the tomahawk is looking like while drying?

the outdoor i came across in maine was also how you described. soft, uncured, no terps.

Was this year really so great? Seems like things fell apart suddenly the last week of September. I almost lost everything in that windstorm. And after that was a week of dampness which is where I first started to see bud rot in a couple strains (Orange Blossom Special and Cherry Wine, FYI). Looks like we've got another shot of rain coming this weekend (I've still got 2 in the ground not quite ready but no signs of rot yet knock on wood).

On the other hand we haven't had a hard frost here near the coast yet. But in the 20 years I've lived here, the trend seems to be toward later frosts and I imagine that's going to continue as climate change acclerates.

Yes. Beautiful weather. It's not the frost, it's the constant wetness,rain and low light cold days imo. The wind is a great thing as long as its not blowing gusts of 50. Seems to me not only have we had nice dry falls the last two, we've also had nice breezes.

Still drying--I just took the fan leaves off at harvest. Hoping to trim and start curing this weekend. Will send a picture.

The stuff I grew here seems to have plenty of terpenes. Based on research I did I've been harvesting at daybreak which supposedly helps with that.

Did you buy a place yet? Where are you moving from?

Real estate prices are jacked right now--lots of in-migration going on. A lot of folks from the West Coast fleeing the fires, that will only increase. Plus we've seen people hoping to shelter from COVID come here (but of course the virus is here too--just less community transmission going on in some counties...for now. That may change.

Ya rec is short supply its will catch up quick now that stores are up an running, from what i understand med weed cant flow into rec cant even sell both from one store front.

I am in maine as well. For strain suggestion I would say definitely look at some m.o.b. mother of all berries! Word has it's a maine developed strain so its suited for this climate. Best of luck in your endeavors!

Still pulling 12 on outs here. lots of profit even at 8 i can grow 20lbs of tops for less than 200 bucks.

This yr was the best growing weather i have seen in many yrs.

Still pulling 12 on outs here. lots of profit even at 8 i can grow 20lbs of tops for less than 200 bucks.
