Clear pots are not bad for the roots. It's the algae that can grow. LOL.

I know it kills orchids pretty fast. Competing plant with higher metabolism. Never had algae in my roots before on the girls.

I have heard it can make the ph swing way too much, probably in large volume hydro

I clone with potting mix in clear plastic cups and sometimes they will stay in the cups for a month or more after showing roots, never had any problems. But mostly use clear cups because I can see where the roots are at and if they need a bit of water.
I did grow one to maturity using Coco in a Coke bottle as an experiment, and one in a white water-canister hempy that let light through and no ill-effects on either.

Just chucked two autos in the 12/12 tent two days ago. DLI of 40-45. See how they do.

Yes .... many will also slip clear cup into a color cup ( double ) , for same reasoning.
Check root growth , etc.......

I used to run DIY SIP grows in cut 2 liter bottles ...
