Hi Guys, Im struggling with Root rot :(

period: week 6
Humidity: 60–65%
Temperature: 80f / 74f
Water Temperature: 62–68f
pH:5.5 ~ 6.0
PPM:500 (raising PPM very slowly)
nute:Canna Classic A,B ,Canna Rhizotonic, great white (i dont like this)

start roots rot since the water change in last weekend,i think look like mild rot, but leaf drooping , slime(dark Part of root) is attached as shown in the photo..I guess there was a problem with the water level and the air pump.
because Slime is just above the surface of the water, and bubbles are not enough(i using 4Liter/M air pump)
I orderd 65w 4500L/H powerful airpump and cycozyme, hydroguard to solve this problem.
I'm ready to use hydrogen peroxide (I also order 3% hydrogen peroxide, just in case), but I want to solve it with what I have .Before using hydrogen peroxide

(I couldn't transter to net pot because I grew it in a small container for too long.So I cut the net pot half and put it to the side. that's why roots don't come out between the net

all I would ever use was 34% h2o2 for my res. the bigger air pump will increase your water temp so watch that.

4-5 ppm sodium hypochlorite/bleach or calcium hypochlorite/pool shock.

I used sodium hypochlorite for years and it didn't harm the plants at all. Just healthy white roots.

I know some will freak out but that's because they don't understand or are misinformed. It will not harm your plants at all if used properly in small amounts.

This is what I used when doing flood and drain and DWC. I can hear the gasps now. But it's an inexpensive solution and works. People dumping all these expensive products and still getting root issues. If I ever do DWC or any form of hydro in the future I'll use bleach again and I won't get root rot.

Yea the great white isnt good, ditch that.Mix up some bleach as above and dip them in.Perhaps @xtsho could give you a mix of how many ml per.

what a legend! i saw about hydrogen peroxide
i've ordered 3%H202 and i wasn't sure if it's food graded so i ordered again which is food graded 34%H202.
so, how can i use this 34%H202? i mean like proper instruction so i can follow each step. People have so many different ways so it makes me confused. I need a decent, reliable way to follow.
Plus, I'm in Aus so not actually able to use American products.:(
Cheers

Calcium hypochlorite is unstabilized pool shock. I recommend that because calcium. However regular household bleach will work.
Both has sodium in it though. I often find bleach to be a more controlled and cleaner product than Pool shock (calcium hypochlorite). That being said both work and are used as bleach in liquid form and both work well.

When I've mixed Pool Shock to make concentrates I always got precipitates at the bottom of the bottle. Our local bleach looks opaque and almost clear in comparison.

I'm in the US, CA to be exact and I use a lot of pool shock. I have a 25,000 gallon pool. Mine has zero sodium on the list. Even around the US I'm sure pool shock could vary though. Luckily the pool shock I get dissolves completely. That's the key finding something local that works and in the amounts needed for growing some Na wouldn't hurt at all.

Correct. All that separates an ineffective medicine, an effective medicine, or a toxin is the dose!

Master @Wastei !!
This is the bleach ingredient i can get.
-------------------------------------------
4%
Sodium Hypochlorite 42g/L (Available Chlorine 4.0%m/v), Sodium Hydroxide 9g/L.
-------------------------------------------

Apparently it's 4%, so can I put the results from the calculator based on 4% right? and should i add nutrient in the bleach water and put the plant back in? I'm confused if I have to drop bleach in the water as if im giving nutrient.

I'm looking for forward to your reply thx!!!

I had the start of root rot on 3 of my plants in a Rdwc System. I used @Wastei calculator and got my plants back. First time I used a dose that was roughly 6 ppm. My plants reacted at about 3 days apart and began to wilt. The two small ones bounced back as the big one was starting to wilt.

I flushed the system and used the calculator to bring me to 1ppm, which for me was 1.7ml to my 25gal system. The next day I had new healthy white roots popping out of my net pot. Each day they doubled in size and here's what they looked like on day 3.

Once they fully bounced back I removed all of the old roots and new ones began to really take over.

The photos really make them look like they have a yellowish tinge but they are bright white and shiny. I would Use the calculator and not by drops to ml conversion per gallon, that had me way high. What it did however was wiped out all of the nasty shit in my system and on my roots. My system is now the cleanest it has ever been and my plants appear to be healthier than they have been for a long while! I am sold on this sodium hypochlorite solution (bleach)!!!

Awesome to see they're recovering! Good job! Chlorine really does make all the difference for stability in hydro. Just keep at it! Cheers!

Happy I'm able to help! That should work just fine with the calculator. I would add 3ppm to everything going in to the reservoir. The order added doesn't really matter that much, 3ppm is a very small amount.

I add it first because there's less things in the water for chlorine to oxidize to which gives you better sterilizing effect, this is just my theory and in practicality it may not matter at all. Cheers!
